Chapter 28: A Shocking Finale! Stormterror is Purified, Luffy Gets a Pyro Vision!
Traveler plunged the longsword deep into the corrupted, dark purple core on Dvalin's neck!
The sword caused no physical damage.
What it released was a gentle, yet unstoppable, purifying power!
If Venti's song was the tide that washed away the filth, then Traveler's strike was the precisely detonated, purifying core!
"ROAR!"
Attacked from both inside and out!
Dvalin tilted his head back, letting out one last, heaven-shaking roar!
In that sound, the pain reached its peak, and then... it suddenly dissipated.
Visibly.
The ferocious, terrifying dark purple lines coiling around his body, like snow under the sun, rapidly melted and faded away!
A thick, nauseating black gas was forcibly expelled from his body, and then, in the pure wind, it shrieked and vanished into nothingness.
Whoosh
The gales stopped.
The cliff was peaceful once more.
Dvalin's massive body lay quietly on the cliff's edge.
He slowly... opened his eyes.
Those dragon pupils were no longer the scarlet of destructive desire.
Instead, they were an azure blue, as pure and clear as the sky.
The madness and pain in his eyes were gone.
In their place was the exhaustion of a survivor, and... a sense of being wronged.
He turned his head. His massive skull, large enough to swallow a small mountain, gently... nuzzled the small, green figure holding a lyre at the cliff's edge.
Venti released the strings.
He reached out his hand, gently, and placed it on Dvalin's giant snout.
"Welcome back."
His voice was full of laughter, and a trace of an imperceptible, choked-up sob.
"My friend."
The wind had stopped.
The great dragon that had once made Mondstadt tremble was now as docile as a large cat.
It gazed at the bard before it with its sky-blue pupils, nuzzling its giant head against his shoulder, letting out a low, aggrieved, and dependent whimper.
Venti smiled, stroking Dvalin's giant snout.
"Welcome back, my friend."
The cliff top was at peace.
The three brats, Ace, Luffy, and Sabo, along with Traveler and Paimon, all quietly watched this heartwarming scene of reunion after the disaster.
Just then.
A cold, emotionless mechanical voice suddenly rang out in the three brothers' minds at the same time.
[Main Mission: Appease Stormterror's wrath. Completed!]
[Dungeon: Song of Wind and Poem of the Dragon, Cleared!]
[Calculating mission settlement...]
[Teleporting out of dungeon in ten seconds...]
[10... 9... 8...]
The sudden voice stunned the three brothers.
It's time to go back?
Ace and Sabo looked at each other, seeing the shock and reluctance in each other's eyes.
This wondrous world, this unbelievable experience, was coming to an end.
However.
Luffy's focus was clearly not on the same channel as his two brothers.
He jumped up!
He first pointed at the cyan ornament on Sabo's waist, which was stirring a small breeze, and then at the red ornament on Ace's waist, which was burning with flames!
"Why!"
Luffy stomped his feet, his whole face scrunched up, letting out a heart-wrenching wail.
"Why do you both get a shiny thing, and I don't!"
"It's not fair!"
"I want the one that shoots fire! I want the one that makes wind! I want one too!"
He yelled, rolling around on the ground, exactly like a child who had been denied candy.
Veins throbbed on Ace's forehead. He wished he could just knock this embarrassing idiot out.
Sabo's mouth twitched. For a moment, he had no idea how to explain things to his simple-minded brother.
Venti and Amber looked at this rubber-man throwing a tantrum with the curiosity one would reserve for a rare animal.
[3... 2...]
"I don't care, I don't care! I want one too! Blake, do you hear me! I want one too! Or I'm not leaving!"
Luffy's roar was still going.
[1... 0!]
Voom!
Before he could finish shouting, a pillar of pure white light descended from the sky, instantly enveloping the three brothers!
"Ah!"
Amidst Luffy's indignant cry, the three figures rapidly turned illusory in the white light, and then vanished completely from Teyvat.
They left behind the stunned citizens of Mondstadt.
The next second.
The familiar feeling of weightlessness returned.
When Ace opened his eyes again, the azure sky and verdant fields were gone.
In their place was the dim, damp forest of Mt. Colubo, smelling of rotting leaves.
They were back.
"Damn it! I was so close!"
Luffy sat on the ground with a plop, still fuming that he hadn't gotten a "shiny thing."
Sabo looked around, confirming they were back where they started. The excitement from traveling to another world had still not subsided.
And just then.
That cold, mechanical voice rang out again.
[Mission settlement complete!]
[Distributing rewards based on dungeon contribution...]
As the voice fell, a soft, cyan-colored ball of light appeared in front of Ace and Sabo.
The light faded, and two neatly folded, cape-like items floated gently into their hands.
The texture was very light, and they were embroidered with strange, golden patterns.
"What's this?"
Sabo unfolded the item in confusion.
Whoosh!
The item spread open in the air, forming a pair of strangely shaped wings!
"Wings of Gliding?"
Sabo's mind instantly recalled the cool image of Amber gliding over the City of Mondstadt with this thing on her back.
Ace also unfolded his Wings of Gliding. He tugged at it, a curious look on his face.
However, Luffy didn't even glance at the two "stupid capes."
His eyes were glued to a spot in the empty air, his lips pouted so far you could hang a pot from them.
He was still angry about the Vision!
[Contribution Rating: Portgas D. Ace. Awakened Vision, heavily wounded the Abyss Mage with one punch, creating the decisive opportunity to purify Stormterror. Rating: S.]
[Contribution Rating: Sabo. Awakened Vision, assisted in combat, analyzed the situation. Rating: A.]
[Contribution Rating: Monkey D. Luffy... Slacked off the whole time, cheered from the sidelines. Rating: E.]
Ace's and Sabo's reward was the Wings of Gliding.
So what about Luffy?
Just as Luffy's anger meter was about to max out.
The mechanical voice rang out again. This time, however, it seemed to carry a playful tone.
[Detecting Challenger Monkey D. Luffy's strong ambition...]
[Additional reward granted!]
Voom!
A brilliant crimson light, identical to the one on Ace's waist, suddenly lit up in front of Luffy!
The light condensed into an intricately patterned red ornament, the flaming totem on it more dazzling than the midday sun!
Pyro!
A Vision!
The fiery red ornament slowly floated in front of Luffy.
Luffy's anger instantly vanished.
He stared blankly at the "shiny thing" in front of him, and blinked.
Then, he snatched it from the air and fastened it to his waist!
"Wahahahaha!"
Luffy put his hands on his hips and let out a deafening, wild laugh!
"I got one too! I got one too!"
He looked at Ace, proudly puffing out his little chest.
"Ace! Look! We're the same!"
Ace pouted, turning his head away with a look of disdain, but the unsuppressible arc of his lips betrayed his current mood.
"Idiot."
