Chapter 54 - Chapter 54 Lies Don't Hurt

Death God World, Marriott Group Headquarters.

Chris, as if returning home, took the elevator to the highest floor, which was normally inaccessible, then exited the elevator, preparing to climb the stairs.

However, just as he stepped into the stairwell, two security guards who were slacking off looked at him in surprise, then, without even time to discard their cigarette butts, they immediately drew their guns and aimed them at Chris.

Then, the two men shouted, "Don't move, hands up!"

Looking at the rifles in their hands, Chris felt that this was more reasonable.

How could a Fortune 500 company only equip close-protection bodyguards with small pistols, as seen in movies?

In America, it would be considered restraint for those big capitalists not to use rocket launchers; rifles were the norm.

It was just a pity that they were facing Chris, who was already superhuman. With a light tap of his toes, Chris directly slammed into the two of them.

The fierce speed, just a step away from breaking the sound barrier, directly splattered the two men like meat patties against the stairwell wall.

Chris didn't possess martial arts skills that could make people stick to walls like paintings, and these two didn't have Chris's recovery abilities, so they were thoroughly dead.

After dealing with the two, Chris turned and walked upstairs. He hadn't expected anyone to be guarding here initially, so Chris was a bit relaxed, moving at a normal person's speed.

But now knowing that there were guards up here, Chris quickened his pace, moving at a speed beyond human vision.

And for everyone Chris saw, he gently extended a finger and slowly placed it on their neck.

However, this slowness was only from Chris's perspective; for these ordinary mercenary soldiers, that finger was a grim reaper's scythe of death.

They couldn't even react before they all became entries on the Shinigami's pending registration list.

When Chris arrived at the only large door on this floor, he happened to hear the conversation inside.

So Chris stopped his hand from pushing the door, preparing to see what important matters they were discussing.

Then he heard that his own affairs were being discussed inside, and he even heard the term family guy.

However, considering they were all within the same grand multiverse, information exchange between their respective universes was a common occurrence, so Chris was no longer curious.

Then, just as the other party was discussing his insurance fraud, he immediately pushed open the door in a fit of uncontrollable rage and shouted, "Slander! This is blatant slander! Those monies were clearly the compensation I deserved; how can you say I committed insurance fraud?!"

However, everyone in the conference room looked at the suddenly intruding Chris, and their faces all changed drastically. Several senior directors immediately shouted, "Security, security! Quickly, take this man out!"

"Shut up! Can't you see I'm speaking?"

Chris glared, and the might of a transcendent being enveloped the man as if it were tangible. Then the man gasped, clutched his heart, and slowly fell to the ground.

"See, everyone, this man died of a heart attack. Don't blame me!"

Seeing Chris glare a man to death, everyone in the conference room immediately fell silent.

It was the CEO, Anthony, who had a bit of courage. He suppressed his fear, stood up tremblingly, and asked in a gentle voice, "May I ask who you are, sir? And what is your purpose for being here?"

Seeing that Chris didn't reply, he looked at the deceased director and said ingratiatingly, "This is a senior director of our company, holding 1.3% of our company's shares. I can make the decision to give his shares to you, as an apology for his slander against you."

Seeing such a civilized method of 'eating people' for the first time, Chris marveled, "You dog, you really dare to say that! Unfortunately, I'm not here for money or fame this time. I just want to borrow something from you all to disgust some fellow who's even more of a dog than you!"

"Haha, you can borrow it, you can borrow anything!"

Hearing Chris's request, Marriott Group's big boss, David Marriott, relaxed. He had thought that the person in front of him was a ruthless killer who wanted nothing.

In that case, even if he had hundreds of billions in assets, he wouldn't be able to move the other party in the slightest.

But now that the other party had opened his mouth to borrow something, he felt like he was back on his home turf and immediately agreed.

It was the CEO, Anthony, who was more cautious. He carefully opened his mouth and asked, "May I ask what you wish to borrow, so that we may be prepared. Also, if you could inform us of the person you dislike, with the power of the Marriott Group, we should be able to provide some assistance to you."

This man was indeed a professional manager. Faced with Chris's direct insult, he acted as if nothing had happened, even flattering Chris in every way possible.

In recognition of this man's dedication, Chris smiled and granted his request.

"Regarding your question, I can certainly tell you, but the order of this answer needs to be reversed."

Anthony, David, and the others nodded in confusion, indicating that they would follow all of Chris's arrangements.

Looking at their foolish responses, Chris chuckled, "The fellow I dislike is someone you cannot afford to offend. He is an existence that can control your life and death. You generally refer to that fellow as Shinigami."

Hearing Chris speak the name of his adversary, everyone present exchanged glances, all wondering if the person in front of them was insane.

Chris was quite lenient with a group of people who were about to die; he ignored their strange looks and continued, "Of course, I prefer to call him the Hell Ox-Horse, because he once made a mistake... or perhaps more than one, but anyway, it was a mistake that left him in a frenzy."

"To compensate for this mistake, that fellow began desperately planning others' death lists to fill in the previous gaps."

Hearing this, Anthony somewhat understood why Chris called the other party the Hell Ox-Horse, because the work this Shinigami did was no different from his subordinates who embezzled public funds.

It's just that his subordinates needed to fill the financial deficit, while that Shinigami seemed to be filling in human lives... human lives!

Anthony suddenly realized something was wrong, and then he saw Chris smiling at his face and saying, "Wow, you're so smart!"

"It took me several days to figure out that guy's work mechanism, and you actually figured it out in such a short time! I'm almost tempted to keep you to work for me!"

Listening to Chris's unhurried words, Anthony pushed away the chair behind him and bolted towards the conference room's partition.

As he ran, Anthony also shouted, "Run, run! This guy is a madman, he's going to kill us!"

"Buddy, revealing my riddle like this completely messed up my rhythm!"

Chris clutched his head in annoyance, then picked up the pen from the table and threw it at Anthony.

With Chris's strength, the pen in his hand was like a sniper rifle bullet, exploding Anthony's head with a bang.

And his body, following his last thoughts, firmly took two more steps forward before collapsing.

"Alas, the smart one is gone. What are you fools still doing alive? Just go with him! It saves me the trouble of explaining too much to you!"

The moment he killed Anthony, Chris kicked his leg, and the massive conference table, pushing David and the vice president, slammed into the floor-to-ceiling window behind them.

The two were first crushed at the waist, then, along with the conference table that shattered the floor-to-ceiling window, they fell from the eighty-plus story building.

Then, before the others could scream in terror, Chris twisted their necks, preventing them from dying in fright.

The entire process took within a hundred milliseconds, from Anthony being shot in the head to the last senior director having his neck broken. At human reaction speed, they couldn't react at all.

After all, the peak human reaction speed is only a little over a hundred milliseconds, and the youngest person here was David, who was in his forties.

In such a short time, it was enough for Chris to let them pass away peacefully.

When the dust settled, Chris sensed the Shinigami's malice, increased a thousandfold, and his mood grew even more cheerful.

"Your secret is about to explode, isn't it? I wonder what your end will be? Will you be taken by the Great Shinigami?"

Chris speculated curiously, then prepared to look for the next favored child of heaven.
