Chapter 55 - Chapter 55 The Frenzied Grim Reaper

Days passed in a flash, and during this time, the whole of America was in chaos.

To increase the workload of Death and exhaust that infernal beast, Chris went all out.

In just a few days, he traveled through more than a dozen states in America, helping dozens of large companies restructure their organizations and extend the lifespan of the local economic environment.

Every time Chris cleaned up a company, he could feel Death's hatred growing.

It wasn't until the news of the deaths of these financial magnates and capital bigwigs broke out, and after a few days of fermentation, that Chris suddenly stopped feeling Death's malice.

Standing at the top of the Empire State Building, Chris gazed at the scene often depicted in movies, wondering if Death was brewing something big again.

After finishing a cigar, Chris extinguished the butt and tossed it away, watching it disappear from his sight. He took a deep breath of the cold air, then entered the building.

No matter what Death wanted to do, Chris was prepared to continue with his plan.

The two sides were already in a life-and-death struggle; after what he had been put through, it wasn't something that could be settled with an apology from Death.

No longer pondering Death's thoughts, Chris turned and entered a conference room, then, amidst the bewildered expressions of the old men, casually twisted their necks before floating away.

As he left, Chris glanced at the nameplate in front of the old man sitting at the head of the table and was surprised to find that this person was also named Anthony.

This reminded Chris of that smart person. It was a pity that guy wasn't cautious enough, otherwise, he really would have wanted to keep him to help analyze Death's situation!

Gracefully walking out of the conference room, Chris entered the elevator to go downstairs, then pondered where he should go next.

Now, all the major capitalists in America knew that a monstrous killer had appeared, and anyone with any sense had fled the country.

Those who remained were either high-level employees or some stubborn old men.

They always thought Chris was no different from the gang assassins of decades ago, just scavenger dogs looking for money.

They had endured ninety-four percent taxes, so why would they be afraid of this not-so-famous petty thief of the new era?

What a joke!

This was the thinking of those elderly old men; they were always stubborn, believing it was just a minor issue.

So, for these guys, Chris found it even easier to act. After all, these guys only had small pistols for their bodyguards, and he couldn't even be bothered to dodge when they shot him.

Recalling the old men he had killed in the past two days, Chris scoffed and lamented, "No wonder America's industries have been stagnant for so many years; turns out their brains have already calcified!"

Click-clack, click-clack!

"What the hell is that noise?"

Hearing the sudden sound, Chris looked up at the elevator ceiling where the sound originated, then heard a 'snap' as all the steel cables holding the elevator simultaneously broke.

The sensation of falling instantly reached Chris's brain. Then, perceiving the elevator's descent speed, he chuckled in exasperation, "Even a meteorite couldn't kill me; you think this thing can?"

The moment he felt the elevator was about to hit the ground, Chris jumped with all his might, directly breaking through the elevator ceiling and leaping out of the rapidly plummeting elevator.

The instant Chris jumped out of the elevator, the entire elevator slammed onto the ground with a 'thud,' instantly flattening under the force of gravity.

Looking at the elevator's tragic state, Chris mocked, "Is that all?"

However, in response to Chris's mockery, Death did not make another move, as if this accident was truly just an accident.

Seeing this, Chris climbed out of the elevator shaft, then pried open the elevator door on the first floor and walked out of the Empire State Building amidst the astonished gazes of the people in the lobby.

As Chris stepped onto the street, a road roller nearby suddenly went berserk and charged towards him, and a cement truck pouring cement for the road suddenly overturned, its cement flying into the sky and falling directly towards Chris's position.

"Can't you come up with some new tricks? These methods are far too old!" Chris taunted while dodging the cement.

"Also, are you perhaps exhausted from summoning meteorites? Why is the damage so low? If I wasn't afraid of getting my clothes dirty, I wouldn't even bother dodging, okay!"

Then, seeing the road roller approaching, he simply lifted it and flipped it onto the ground.

This was a road roller used for constructing city roads, weighing at most about twenty tons. Before Chris was hit by the meteorite, his explosive strength was over a hundred tons.

Under the pressure of life and death, more potential was unleashed, and Chris's strength surged again, making it even easier to flip this thing over.

However, before Chris could continue mocking Death, he felt as if someone had suddenly struck him hard on the back of the head with a baseball bat, causing his entire body to sway.

Chris reached back to touch the back of his head, then felt a wet, sticky liquid and a small, hard object.

He brought his hand back to look, and a crimson blood covered his palm, with a deformed bullet in the center.

"Ah, it's a bullet! I really thought someone hit me with a baseball bat!"

At this moment, Chris heard a gunshot like thunder. Before the sound of the gunshot reached him, Chris swayed again, and another deformed bullet fell.

He was just wondering how, with his current superhuman physique, a human with a baseball bat could make him stumble?

Turns out someone was shooting at him with a sniper rifle!

Realizing he had been sniped, Chris turned to look in the direction the bullet came from, and only then did he hear the second gunshot.

Following that, Chris noticed a guy wearing a black knit hat on a distant tall building, staring at him in shock.

Chris could even see the other person's mouth forming 'fuck, fuck' as he cursed.

Looking into the guy's eyes, Chris revealed his set of white teeth, then mouthed, "I see you!"

Then Chris vanished from the person's sight. Seeing that he was targeted by a monster that survived two armor-piercing headshots, the mercenary immediately abandoned his sniper rifle and turned to leave via his pre-planned escape route.

"Monster, an absolute monster! What kind of power did those businessmen offend to have such a monster sent to deal with them?"

"Oh, what did I hear? You were hired by those old men? I thought they only arranged for those bodyguards with small pistols!"

"What?!"

The mercenary turned to look behind him, only to see Chris leaning against the wall, standing there.

'Damn it, how can he be so fast!'

The mercenary's shocked thought had just appeared in his mind when his battle-hardened body already raised his micro submachine gun and opened fire on Chris.

However, the mercenary didn't believe that such firepower could kill a monster that could flip a road roller with bare hands and withstand two armor-piercing bullets without dying.

His current goal was simply to hope this bit of firepower could suppress the opponent for a moment, to create an opportunity for him to escape.

However, his thoughts were beautiful, but the bullets, which weren't even as fast as Chris's hand, were directly caught by him and then returned to the mercenary.

Dozens of bullet heads flew back at a speed faster than they were fired from the gun, and then the mercenary was riddled with holes.

Looking at the fallen mercenary, Chris chuckled and said, "I didn't expect you to even use human forces. It seems you've run out of tricks!

But if you can do this much, why not bring in the National Guard too? Can't do it, perhaps? Hahahahaha!"

Amidst Chris's joyful laughter, Death made no further moves.

Perhaps, as Chris said, It no longer had the energy to do anything else.

Now, including this mercenary in its plan was Its last struggle, but it had clearly failed as well.
