Chapter 56 - Chapter 56 Even Death Can Crash

"Nice! They finally targeted the guys in the medical industry. These money-grubbing bastards, it's best if they all die!"

Next to a hot dog stand in a park, Chris, who had just increased the burden on Death, was enjoying local delicacies when he heard the hot dog stand owner shout frantically while looking at a newspaper.

Chris glanced over and saw that it was precisely the guys he had worked overtime to kill last night.

He didn't know what these people were thinking; they had clearly escaped Chris's pursuit range, but after discovering their company's stock price had fallen, they rushed back at full speed.

They even grandiosely published a clarification in the newspaper to salvage the stock price.

Although it was only in a small corner of the newspaper, Chris still saw it when he was bored.

So, what more was there to say? Since the other party was so cooperative, he certainly couldn't disappoint them.

On the very night the newspaper was published, Chris snuck into their homes and expedited their delivery to Death.

What puzzled Chris was that ever since he killed that mercenary, Death had completely disappeared.

From two days ago until now, Chris hadn't encountered a single accident, and even through investigation, the number of accidental deaths across America had significantly decreased.

This made Chris suspect whether he had given Death too much work, directly exhausting it to death.

But after calculating his kill count during this period, it was just over a thousand, at most.

Although these people were all big shots whose words could influence the fate of a city, it shouldn't be enough to cause Death to crash, right?

If it could crash so easily, Chris could only say that Death was too low-tier.

So, to be safe, Chris decided to randomly select a few more targets, and then wait to see if Death was truly overwhelmed by the massive workload.

Thinking of this, Chris swallowed the last bite of his hot dog, then asked the hot dog stand owner, who was still reading the newspaper, "Hey, uncle! Can I ask you a question?"

"Oh, of course! I'm in a great mood right now. If you hadn't already paid, I'd even give you a free meal!"

The hot dog stand owner laughed heartily, put down the newspaper, and then said something he absolutely couldn't do.

Chris knew this well, so he completely ignored the other party's casual promise and directly asked, "Uncle, which industry's bosses do you hate the most? It would be best if you could mention which city they live in."

"Hmm? Why do you ask that?" The hot dog stand owner frowned, then relaxed, and said casually, "Forget it, it's none of my business. If I had to say which industry's bosses I hate the most, it would definitely be the oil companies. Those Vampires who shift environmental damage to the local area!

My hometown was destroyed by them; otherwise, I wouldn't be here trying to make a living. If the mysterious guest's next target is them, that would be great. Then I really would give away a hundred hot dogs for free to celebrate."

The hot dog stand owner made a praying gesture as he spoke, then recalled, "As for the city they live in... it seems a few are in Houston, but I don't know the specifics."

"Mm-hmm, that's enough."

Chris got the information he wanted, turned to bid farewell to the owner, and then set off for the target's location.

And the hot dog stand owner, looking at Chris's tall back, muttered, "What a strange person!"

By the time Chris arrived in Houston, it was already afternoon.

Following his usual routine, he went to a newsstand to get a city guide, and a quick flip through would reveal information about local major taxpayers.

Indeed, several oil giants had settled there.

After confirming his targets, Chris began to investigate their organizational structure, then set off for their companies.

His previous operational areas were all near New York State, so even if the capital bigwigs here knew about him, they would never flee the country to hide.

After all, in their minds, Chris might still be lurking in a county or city near New York State at this time, and it would be impossible for him to travel all the way to Texas.

One must know that company CEOs running around casually can greatly affect the company's stock price.

Otherwise, those pharmaceutical bosses before wouldn't have turned back to save their stock prices right after leaving the country.

As for whether doing so was foolish, Chris had already shown them with his actions that it was utterly foolish.

But this was unavoidable; for those guys, the cost of company bankruptcy was even more tragic than losing their lives.

Lamenting humans alienated by money, Chris had already arrived at the target company.

The next steps were extremely simple: first, confirm whether the main executives were present; if they all were, then walk straight in, twist their necks, and then leave, and it would be done.

If a significant portion of the executives were absent, it would be a bit more troublesome: directly coerce the highest-ranking executive present to arrange a meeting and discussion, then wait for all of them to arrive, and then repeat the neck-twisting step.

Chris had proven this method to be extremely effective through more than a dozen successful practices.

Even after Chris's reputation as a capitalist hunter spread, the method of calling them back for a meeting was consistently successful, never failing once.

One could only say that this strongest overt strategy, passed down through the ages, was indeed effective.

While pondering, Chris had already entered the headquarters of this oil company and began to follow the steps.

Fortunately, all the executives of this company were present, which made it easier for Chris to proceed to the next step.

He directly barged into the conference room, then, following his usual standard, sent them off one by one, and Chris was ready to leave.

The whole process took only about 2 seconds; one could only blame the excessive number of executives in this company for it taking so long.

However, when Chris noticed the content of the meeting on the PPT, he understood what was going on.

"Plan to Annex New York Capital"

Well, well! So, everyone present were influential figures from Houston!

He wondered why an oil company would have hundreds of executives; it turned out that executives from several other companies were also gathered here, and not just from the oil industry.

Knowing this, Chris pulled a cigarette from the pocket of a peacefully sleeping old man, lit it, and savored it.

'Has his luck turned? Why are things so coincidental? Could it be that Death is trying to curry favor with me, wanting to reconcile?'

Such a coincidence made Chris fall into self-doubt, and then, as the cigarette burned out, a red stream of energy merged into Chris's body.

Seeing this familiar life essence, Chris could already confirm that Death had indeed died of exhaustion.

After all, even the other party's life essence had been devoured by him; with his multiverse-level talent certification, Chris couldn't imagine how the other party could still be alive!

And after acquiring Death's life essence, Chris didn't feel an increase in his own power, but he did perceive an unprecedented ability appearing in his mental domain.

However, Chris temporarily didn't understand what those abilities were.

Instead, Chris had already found the reason for the current coincidence.

In Chris's perception, within the nation of America, a vague and ethereal concept flowed, which governed the fate of everyone on this land.

And the part of it that managed life and death was exceptionally dim compared to the concepts managing other fates, so dim that it seemed to have disappeared.

This was indeed because the part of the concept related to life and death had been caused to crash by Chris, directly freezing it.

Then, under the judgment of Chris's talent, its life essence was plundered, which led to this scene.

In reality, this part of the life essence should have been devoured by Chris two days ago, but due to the obstruction of the main body of that fate concept, it wasn't immediately devoured by Chris.

It wasn't until today that the main body of fate could no longer stop it, thus releasing this fate concept related to life and death.

To even curry favor with Chris, the other party even gathered so many people through other fate concepts, so that Chris could kill to his heart's content.

Understanding all this, Chris laughed self-deprecatingly, "Lunatic, I'm not a serial killer! If it weren't for dealing with your brain-dead subordinate, I wouldn't have killed so many people!"

He explained to that main body of fate, regardless of whether it had self-awareness or believed him.

Anyway, after Chris finished speaking, his figure completely vanished from this world, just as he had suddenly appeared, now he suddenly disappeared.
