Chapter 60 - Chapter 60 Carter's Assets and Vacations

Chris, who had spent the day at school, arrived at the roadside as arranged.

Louise was indeed already waiting there, and Megan had already gotten into the car, instinctively taking the back seat.

"How was your day? Were your classmates enthusiastic?"

Listening to Louise's concerned greeting, Chris replied with a smile, "Very enthusiastic, and I like this atmosphere."

"That's good. You've really changed a lot. It seems hitting your head actually made you more confident!"

"Uh..." Chris didn't respond, as Louise's comment was quite dark.

The three returned home in silence. Louise went to cook, Megan went to listen to music, and a bored Chris found Dumpling.

Since Brian was guarding the factory gate and it wasn't quitting time yet, Dumpling was the only one at home he could play with.

"Wow! Isn't this Chris? You're willing to make up with me so quickly?"

Seeing Chris walk into his room, Dumpling taunted him, clearly not forgetting how Chris had tricked him.

"Hey, don't be so petty, alright! I thought after this morning, we had already made up?"

"Hmph!" Dumpling thought of asking Chris to lift him onto the seat that morning, and his expression became a bit strange.

Could he say it was because he had just woken up that morning and forgotten everything from yesterday?

Obviously not, that would be too damaging to his image as a genius!

So now Dumpling could only snort coldly, allowing Chris to enter his room.

"Speak. What do you want from me?"

"Uh, can't I look for you if there's nothing wrong? Megan is too boring, always watching TV or listening to music. Brian is at work, so I had no choice but to come play with you!"

Facing Chris's blunt honesty, Dumpling sneered, "So I'm just a backup for you? That's really hurtful!"

"Hehe, never mind, let's not dwell on it. I want you to add an active shutdown function to the spatiotemporal synchronization device on my wristband, to prevent me from traveling for too long and too much time passing in the main world."

"Why didn't you just say so earlier, instead of beating around the bush?" Dumpling grumbled as he took Chris's hand, then operated the wristband a few times, and it came right off.

"Any other requests? I'll add them all at once to save trouble!"

Holding the wristband, Dumpling asked Chris again for confirmation, wanting to consider his needs.

Chris, however, looked at Dumpling speechlessly, "You're so smart, and you're asking me? I'd like a time-stop function, too, but do you think that's realistic?"

"Tsk tsk tsk, you really dare to dream. I can't achieve large-scale spatiotemporal stasis, and the energy device on your wristband isn't enough to support stopping time. You can forget about that function for now.

Since you don't have any ideas, I'll proceed with my own. Don't complain if you encounter problems later!"

Hearing Dumpling say this, Chris nodded indifferently. After gaining the bad luck ability, Chris could not only make others unlucky but also manipulate his own good fortune.

Therefore, as long as it wasn't an overly exaggerated disaster, Chris could completely protect himself.

After giving Dumpling his instructions, Chris chatted with him about the beverage factory.

It could only be said that Stewie's ability was indeed powerful, and West's shares were not for nothing.

In these days, the factory's production capacity had reached one million bottles per day, just enough to cover the residents of Rhode Island.

However, because the effect of this beverage was too powerful, many residents hoarded it in large quantities, which prevented everyone from drinking it.

But according to Dumpling's prediction, in about two more weeks, when all residents realized that this item wouldn't be rare, the beverage would be able to circulate normally on the market.

By then, they would have accumulated a large amount of capital and could proceed to the next step: opening their own gyms and then launching a fitness version of the beverage to attract fitness enthusiasts.

However, during their conversation, Chris suddenly thought of a question: the dragon blood beverage would make people energetic and nourish their bodies.

So, as long as one drank the dragon blood beverage, that person could be said to be immune to all diseases.

But if that were the case, wouldn't Rhode Island's pharmaceutical magnates have caused them trouble?

Upon learning of Chris's concerns, Dumpling suddenly burst into laughter, "Hahahaha, Chris, Chris! Don't you know that Rhode Island's largest pharmaceutical company is Carter's industry?"

"Carter also has a pharmaceutical company?"

Chris was a bit surprised, as he really didn't know what industries his cheap grandfather owned.

He only knew that Carter was very rich in the setting, but Chris was unsure to what extent.

Seeing Chris's ignorant expression, Dumpling smilingly opened a projection and pulled up Carter's asset catalog.

"Look, these are the assets under the Peute Schmidt Family's name, and they are also the assets you will inherit in the future!"

Chris didn't think Dumpling was joking about what he said, because in many timelines, Carter's assets were inherited by Chris.

However, those assets, totaling hundreds of billions of dollars, were always easily spent by him after falling into Chris's hands.

It could only be said that the Griffin Family was not destined for lasting wealth!

But that was only the original Chris's fate. For him now, making money was the simplest thing, so even if there was a possibility of acquiring Carter's inheritance again, Chris didn't care much.

But just a quick glance at the projection, Chris also saw an asset catalog that shocked him.

"Does our grandfather have any aliases, like Thomas Wayne or something? This is too ridiculous! Is half of Rhode Island ours? Doesn't the America government care? Is the antitrust law just for show?"

The assets Chris saw now included many essential industries for residents' lives, such as steel, energy, finance, media, technology, pharmaceuticals, and real estate.

It could be said that Carter's companies were involved in the entire food, clothing, housing, and transportation of Rhode Island, having already achieved economic self-circulation in practice.

As long as Carter spent money in Rhode Island, no matter how much he spent, the money would ultimately flow back into his own pocket.

That's why Chris was so shocked, because even with such a vast amount of assets, the original Chris, after taking over, could squander them in a short time.

It could only be said that he was truly incredible!

"Hehehe, look at Carter's full name, and I think you'll know why!"

Following Dumpling's hint, Chris looked at Carter's full name. Translated phonetically into Chinese, it contained words Chris found extremely familiar.

Carter Roosevelt Peute Schmidt!

"...Our family can still be related to that person?" Chris was silent for a moment, then looked at Dumpling hesitantly.

"No relation at all, it's just a very common name."

"Huh?!" Chris looked at Dumpling, his eyes full of confusion, questioning him why he should look at the full name if there was no relation.

"Although there's no relation, don't you think Carter deserves that name? After all, the taxes Carter pays are less than the grants allocated from above, and those grants ultimately return to Carter's hands."

"So..." Chris still didn't understand what this had to do with Carter being able to monopolize all industries in Rhode Island.

"So, if Carter can achieve this, it means he is one of the small group of people at the very top of this country, and he only occupies a tiny Rhode Island, so others won't do anything to him!"

After Dumpling finished his shouting explanation, Chris rubbed his ears and then continued, "Then why would Carter allow the dragon blood beverage to occupy his pharmaceutical field, just because we are his grandsons?"

Hearing Chris's words, Dumpling looked at Chris in surprise, wondering, "Isn't that enough? His current heir, Louise, is the only qualified one, and you are Louise's eldest son, so who else would he give it to?"

"Alright~ then!" Chris thought about it, and it seemed to be true. However, the thought of such a big capitalist like Carter having warmth felt very strange to him.

After chatting for a long time, Chris took Dumpling downstairs for dinner.

At this moment, Peter was sitting at the head of the dining table, excitedly saying, "My pet bereavement leave has been officially approved! That parrot's life was not in vain! Let's all raise a glass to Gonzo!"

As soon as he finished speaking, Peter chugged the beer in his hand.

Chris suspected he was just saying that to drink more beer, as he saw that no one else reacted, which meant that this parrot was probably just something Peter brought back to trick them into giving him a vacation.

"Oh, yes! Too bad I have human rights, otherwise I could contribute to you, Peter!" Seeing Peter's excited look, Brian mocked him, clearly still holding a grudge about Peter wanting to trade his life for a vacation.

"Come on, Brian, don't be a spoilsport! I'm about to announce some good news!" Peter, who was about to have another drink, waved his hand, signaling the sarcastic Brian to quiet down.

Then he heard Peter continue, "To celebrate this vacation, how about we all go on a trip together? I've already booked the location, in the town of Pawtucket, New York."

"That's great! We can finally go out and play again!"

Hearing Peter's words, Megan excitedly raised her hands and shouted, then was simultaneously reprimanded by Peter and Louise:

"Shut up, Megan!" x 2

Louise and Peter exchanged glances, then Louise said softly, "Be quiet while eating, and your father hasn't finished speaking yet!"

"Huh?" Peter looked at Louise in confusion. Hadn't he finished speaking? Was there anything else to say?

"Oh, right! We leave at six tomorrow morning, so you all should get some rest early tonight."

Just as Peter finished speaking, Chris felt a slight fluctuation in his bad luck ability, but it was very minor.

It seemed this vacation wouldn't be so joyful after all!

But since it was a collective activity of the Griffin Family, there probably wouldn't be any life-threatening danger, so there was no need to worry at all.
