Chapter 61 - Chapter 61: Escaping from Deadly Town?

The next morning, before dawn, the griffin family had already begun to wash up.

As Chris stepped out of his room, he heard Peter shouting downstairs with a megaphone: "Hurry, hurry, hurry! We need to arrive before noon, or we'll miss the free lunch!"

"Ugh! That fat guy is so noisy!"

Chris looked down at the little sprout, Dumpling, who was wearing pink pajamas and hugging a toy bear, yawning.

"Go wash your face, or Louise will cover your face with a towel again."

Dumpling's expression changed, clearly Chris had hit a sore spot, and he immediately cursed: "Shit! That's one of the reasons I hate that woman, she tries to murder me every day!"

But despite the cursing, Dumpling still consciously changed his clothes and then obediently went to wash up.

By the time everyone was ready, it was exactly six o'clock.

Facing the rising sun, Peter drove everyone to the resort town he had booked.

There were no hitches along the way, and after a four-hour drive, the griffin family arrived at a small town nestled by a lake.

"Look, that's Lake Puncouta! It's as beautiful as advertised!" Peter stretched his hand out of the car, pointing at the small lake ahead and exclaiming.

Then the car drove into a side road, heading towards the town.

Soon they entered the town, with residents living in single-family homes on both sides of the road, without exception.

"Oh, look, are those people welcoming us?"

Dumpling got up and looked out the window, finding that, as Megan said, there were people standing in front of every house, all staring intently at the car that had entered the town.

But after a quick glance, Dumpling noticed the abnormality of these people; their expressions were strange, not to mention their exceptionally standard postures.

It was as if these people had all undergone some kind of body adjustment surgery.

Upon discovering this abnormality, Dumpling's mind instantly made several conjectures, comparing which surgeries would make people like this.

But just as he compared a few, Dumpling noticed Chris's flickering eyes, and then stopped wasting his mental energy.

"How boring. With you here, I feel like this vacation won't be exciting at all!"

Chris looked down at Dumpling, who had sat back down, and said with a smile: "What did you figure out? My gut feeling tells me this town isn't as simple as it seems!"

"Tch, so what. Just a bunch of brain-damaged people who've had their brains tampered with, are you scared?"

"Brains tampered with?" Repeating Dumpling's hint, Chris had a guess in his heart, but due to the scarcity of information, he couldn't be sure yet.

As Chris was momentarily lost in thought, Peter had already driven the car into a courtyard, and Louise asked curiously: "Peter, is this the place?"

They saw that the adjacent courtyard was already crowded with people, and there were several barbecue grills set up in the yard, with sizzling, oily grilled meat cooking on them.

"This is it, get out of the car, Louise!"

Hearing Peter's confirmation, Louise got out of the car. She first looked around, finding the environment indeed nice, but she didn't know what the group of people in the adjacent yard were doing.

Were they welcoming them? Or just having a normal gathering?

And when the people in the yard saw the griffin family getting out of the car, they started conversing in low voices, but their words were very strange.

"Is it them? How is there only one family? It's a miracle if even one of them is suitable!"

"It's good that someone came! I still think the old method is better, just promoting it on a webpage, what kind of excellent individuals can that attract?"

"Hey, I don't think so!"

A woman holding a skewer of grilled meat pointed at Louise, who had just gotten out of the car, her throat bobbing, her eyes full of joyful anticipation.

The people chatting nearby were alerted by her and turned to look, then were similarly captivated and couldn't tear their eyes away.

"Looks like we hit the jackpot! This time we actually got such a prime individual!"

"Too bad this woman must be old, and without a doubt, she's had several children."

One person, looking at Chris and the others who hadn't yet gotten out of the car, said with conviction.

The woman with the skewer, however, grew even more excited: "Isn't that even better? If this woman were younger, it wouldn't be our turn to compete."

"Haha, that's true!"

Hearing this, the two women next to her exchanged a smile, in strong agreement.

But at the same time, a coldness flashed in their eyes, because from now on, the three of them had become competitors.

And after Louise was targeted, Chris followed closely, also causing a group of people to exclaim.

"Oh my god! Is this some kind of Hercules descended?"

"I want this body, you all choose someone else!"

"Heh heh, can you afford that price? To dare to speak so wildly! I think that first fat guy is good for you, it's not unusable if he loses some weight!"

"Hahaha, that person should be this boy's father. Since this boy has such a physique, his father's genes shouldn't be bad either. If you don't fancy him, I'm quite satisfied."

A frail man in a wheelchair said with a chuckle.

He was fed up with his own weak body and most wanted a strong body like Chris's, but unfortunately, such a physique was not only rare but also highly sought after.

After repeatedly failing to win bids, he had to settle for a recipient who had the potential to develop such a physique, and it seemed his luck was good.

Just as this thought emerged, such a suitable candidate appeared.

He looked at Chris's physique, which was even more Terminator-like than a Terminator, and then at the obese Peter, already imagining the perfect physique he would develop after inhabiting that body.

"Oh? I didn't expect there to be an intelligent species. Is that a Labrador? Does anyone want to experience the body of another species?"

When Brian got out of the car, an old man with failing eyesight, leaning on a cane, asked in a low voice, clearly he had his eyes on Brian's body.

Seeing no one respond, the old man chuckled: "Then I'll reserve this big dog in advance!"

These people were dozens of meters away from Chris and the others, and their conversations were extremely faint.

But for Chris, such a short distance was no different from them speaking directly to him.

However, for Brian, although he had the blessing of his racial talent, his bad habits meant his hearing was only slightly better than an ordinary person's, and he couldn't hear conversations as faint as mosquitoes from dozens of meters away.

And seeing these people dividing up the ownership of their bodies as if they were commodities, Chris understood what was happening.

If nothing unexpected happened, they had stumbled into the family guy version of Get Out.

Fortunately, Peter saw the advertisement online, otherwise Chris would kill Old Joe when they got back.

Because in a certain parallel universe, Old Joe worked as a human organ broker.

In that world, he had tricked Peter and Louise into going to a senior community for a vacation, intending to steal Peter and Louise's organs.

Luckily, Peter and Louise were the protagonists, so they naturally left safely.

As a result, Old Joe didn't give up and introduced Cleveland, also one of the round clam f4, and eventually successfully replaced his legs with Cleveland's.

However, in this universe, Old Joe was clearly not so beastly, and this was not a trap arranged and designed by him.

Just as Chris dismissed his suspicions about Old Joe, Megan finally dragged herself out of the car.

And this last member of the Griffin Family greatly disappointed those who had been eagerly awaiting.

"Shit! Is this ugly guy really not adopted by them? How can he be so ugly, completely different from the others."

"Hey, you're wrong, this seems to be a girl!"

"What!? That joke isn't funny at all."

"Charlie wasn't wrong, this person really is a girl, just a bit ugly."

"fuck!"

Megan got out of the car and saw the group of people barbecuing, showing a disgusted expression, and asked in confusion: "What's wrong with them? Is the food undercooked?"

Chris, knowing the truth, did not tell Megan the full story, but merely hinted: "Perhaps they saw something they shouldn't have, causing their sanity to drop too low?"
