Chapter 11 - Chapter 11: Subduing the Goblins

Seeing the leading Goblin chief, Niu Zida squeezed Yor's large breasts hard and gave the order to kill him.

Yor, receiving the command, did not hesitate. She swiftly approached using her stealth skill, and before the chief could even cry out, she slit the Goblin chief's throat with a single stab, ending his life.

The Goblins, who had just been in chaos, were all dumbfounded and frozen in place, seeing their chief collapse before them, spewing a fountain of blood.

After a brief silence, the Goblins on the scene became even more chaotic. At this moment, Niu Zida quickly had Yor go over, pick up the short Goblin Shaman with one hand, and then press a kunai dagger against him:

"Order all Goblins to stop resisting and come over."

It was only then that the Goblin Shaman clearly saw that there was actually another person crouched behind the beautiful woman threatening him, and when he poked his head out, he was also a Goblin, which made him a little stunned.

"Hurry up, if you don't want to die."

Seeing that the other party was still unable to accept it for a moment, Niu Zida commanded the Goblin Shaman in a more authoritative tone, while Yor had already aimed the kunai dagger at the Goblin Shaman's throat, ready to strike at any command.

"I understand..."

To save his life, the Goblin Shaman quickly blew the whistle hanging around his neck. After blowing it several times, the Goblins, who had been running around like headless flies, gradually stopped. Seeing that no one was chasing them, they slowly gathered. Under the faint light of the bonfire, Niu Zida simply counted and found only twenty or thirty Goblins had come.

"Where are the others?"

"I don't know either, maybe they all ran away. The chief is dead, and many people won't listen to me, so there's nothing I can do."

The Goblin Shaman saw that Niu Zida seemed dissatisfied and quickly defended himself. Niu Zida snorted, squeezed Yor's large breasts, and only then did Yor throw the Goblin Shaman into the gathered pile of Goblins like trash, making the Goblin Shaman let out a painful wail.

"I am the leader of all Goblins in this river valley and even the border region. From today onwards, no matter which tribe you belong to, you must submit to me and obey my commands, otherwise, this will be your fate."

Niu Zida pointed at the dead Goblin chief on the ground, then casually sat astride Yor's snowy neck, his small eyes gleaming fiercely as he surveyed the Goblins below.

Because of their eusocial organizational structure based on blood ties, Goblins can be very obedient to the overall command, especially the directives of high-intelligence power holders within the group. They are not only the pinnacle in terms of intelligence and even combat power, but often also the patriarchs of a group of Goblins by blood. This dual ruling foundation makes the internal stability of small Goblin groups relatively strong.

However, this organizational structure also brought problems: once they lose their leader, Goblin tribes are difficult to maintain stability. And because they rely too much on blood ties to form groups, Goblins, despite having strong reproductive capabilities, cannot form higher-level organizational structures. Not to mention nations, they cannot even establish territories or larger city-states.

This is why, even though Goblins are foolish, they are only slow to learn human civilization's achievements, not incapable of learning. After coexisting with humans for such a long time, they should have learned human organizational structures to some extent, yet they have never been able to develop a Goblin nation. Niu Zida's first step was to unify Goblins from different groups, at least to make them obey a single authority, even if this authority was initially established purely through violent terror.

The Goblins below exchanged glances, completely at a loss as to what to do. Goblins formed tribes based on blood ties, and unless they came from the same group, it was absolutely impossible for them to unite, let alone for an outsider to suddenly become a group leader.

Seeing the Goblins below remain silent, Niu Zida didn't waste words. The foot hanging over Yor's shoulder kicked Yor's large breasts. Yor understood, raised her hand, and killed the closest silent Goblin. The bloody atmosphere spread once again, and Niu Zida said coldly:

"Kneel, and submit to me. Otherwise, it will be like this. I only give you 3 seconds. I will count to 3."

"1... 2..."

Before he could count to 3, compelled by such a bloody threat, all the remaining twenty-odd Goblins on the scene knelt down under the leadership of the Goblin Shaman.

"Very good. If you are all so obedient, you can all live, and in the future, you can follow me and live a good life, instead of relying on raids in this cave, living hand-to-mouth."

Niu Zida, of course, was too lazy to explain his future grand plans to these Goblins. He could only temporarily appease them with simple words they could understand. Of course, he also knew that these Goblins could not truly submit to him now; they were merely intimidated by bloody terror for the time being. These Goblins were just foolish, not stupid.

"Chief Adult..."

"Call me Lord Adult from now on. I am not some chief..."

"Lord Adult..."

The Goblin Shaman quickly changed his address, using this title that was only used in the human world and was somewhat awkward for Goblins. As one of the few Goblins with some knowledge, the Shaman always felt that this Goblin who suddenly appeared in the cave was strange. To be able to command such a powerful beauty, and then to speak with an accent so similar to a human, even imitating human nobles to control Goblins—such a thing was truly unheard of.

"Very good. Are there any other Goblin tribes nearby?"

Under Niu Zida's questioning, the Goblin Shaman told him that there were two other tribes nearby, both larger than his own tribe and occupying better locations. Otherwise, they wouldn't have come to this area near the human border, where they could be discovered and exterminated by various adventurers at any time.

"Isn't being close to humans convenient for you to plunder women and breed more Goblins?"

"That also makes it easier to suffer human retaliation, and now the human kingdom is at war, so there are no humans to be found nearby."

He didn't expect this Goblin Shaman to be quite knowledgeable about the outside world, much smarter than he had imagined.

"But how do those Goblins living further away reproduce? Isn't it even harder for them to find human women?"

"Their scale is very large, and they can attack other human villages. A little further north, there's a village with a church, where there are still quite a few humans."

A village with a church, that must be Aponia's village, he thought. Speaking of which, the bandits he encountered before had also set their sights on that village. Aponia truly had a lot of misfortunes, Niu Zida sighed to himself.
