Chapter 35 - Zeus

Lucifer looked at the detective and couldn't help but recall meeting her a few days prior—it was also when he discovered his mojo didn't work on her.

"Detective, we meet again."

The detective looked at Lucifer, then at Sigurd, before speaking.

"Mr. Morningstar, why are you always surrounded by trouble? Looking at the situation, you were shot again, but it seems you survived."

"Detective Decker, I told you, I am immortal. They can't kill me."

Sigurd heard Lucifer's words and couldn't help but feel this version had the same distinctive aura as the Lucifer whose soul he had devoured.

Just as Sigurd was enjoying his drink, the detective turned her attention to him.

"And who might you be? If you're a customer, you should leave the premises."

Sigurd turned his head toward Detective Decker.

"Hello. Sigurd Borson. Not a customer; you can consider me a friend of Lucifer's."

Hearing this, the detective looked at him even more suspiciously. After all, a new person meets his friend, and on the same day, a shootout occurs.

"Chloe Decker. What kind of friend are you of Mr. Morningstar?"

Sigurd was surprised by how quickly Chloe suspected him.

"You could say his father introduced us. As for the nature of our business, I don't think you have the jurisdiction or the knowledge to be privy to it."

Listening to Sigurd speak only made her more doubtful.

"Miss Decker, you shouldn't suspect him," Lucifer interjected with a smile. "Even if he wanted to kill me, it wouldn't be by sending small-time ants. You'd be better off looking in a different direction."

Chloe looked at Lucifer with doubt. After all, one could never be sure a close associate wasn't behind an attempt.

"Mr. Morningstar, in 90% of cases, assassinations are orchestrated by someone close."

Sigurd, hearing this, felt she was determined to pin him as the mastermind.

"Miss, you'd better speak with proof. And I don't think you mere mortals can judge me. If I wanted to kill him, do you truly believe any of you could stop it? Look for other clues and do not spoil my mood, or it will not end well for anyone."

Listening to both men, Chloe was bewildered. What the hell is with this rich circle? Everyone acts like they're a god or immortal.

Just as she was about to speak, another voice cut in.

"Detective, he is not the one who sent the shooter. You should look in another direction. He is our esteemed guest, and you should not doubt him."

Amenadiel then looked toward Sigurd.

"Hello, Sigurd Borson. Your arrival has caused quite a buzz. Even Father spoke with us after a long time. This shouldn't be solely about the present situation, should it?"

Hearing this, Lucifer's smile vanished. Mazikeen and Hippolyta also turned their attention to Sigurd.

"Hello, Noble Amenadiel. Do you think those old guys would let me know what is coming? These cunning old beings always love mystery, but I don't care. If anything threatens my family's peace, they will be slaughtered. It doesn't matter what or who they are."

Listening to Sigurd's cold voice, even Lucifer could feel how dangerous he was, but for him, that was a good thing. After all, he didn't need to be the one facing him.

Chloe Decker, who had been focused on the group, shuddered at his words.

Who is this guy? Is something big happening in LA? But they aren't talking about it here. Sigurd Borson?

Amenadiel looked at Sigurd. He didn't know what the supreme creators were thinking; even though he handled much of God's work, he was kept in the dark about this.

"Let it be. We will know when the time comes. There is no point in discussion now."

Sigurd couldn't help but be surprised, observing the devil of this world. In every story, the devil was the ultimate villain, but here he was, following a mortal around. Most curiously, angels and demons seemed to be cooperating.

Different worlds do teach you that everything told or written might not be a hundred percent accurate. There is always another side to the story.

At the same time, in Hippolyta's world...

On Mount Olympus, an assembly was underway, with the gods of Olympus seated according to their rank.

Athena, Goddess of Wisdom, stood in the center of the hall, addressing the mighty God-King of Olympus.

"Great God-King Zeus, I have found traces of Apokolips soldiers in our territory. We interrogated one of them and gained valuable information."

Zeus looked down toward Athena, took a sip of wine from the glass beside him, and then spoke.

"What information do you have? And why should we worry about Apokolips? It is a New God planet that doesn't even have the strength to face Asgard. Where do those barbaric fools get the nerve to challenge us?"

Athena observed Zeus's prideful nature but also knew that Apokolips hadn't previously seemed powerful enough to threaten Olympus. After all, they were the old gods who had survived eons.

"Father, according to the information we obtained, the new lord of Apokolips intends to attack Earth. He has already sent his general, Steppenwolf, and may come personally to capture the planet."

Zeus heard this and grew angry. He looked at Ares.

"A new god comes to our territory, threatens to capture a planet under our jurisdiction, and you, the God of War, didn't even notice which ant was eating away at your corner?"

Ares felt a surge of anger at the accusation.

"God-King, give me the order. I will personally go to Apokolips and slaughter this so-called new god."

Just as Zeus was about to respond, Athena interjected.

"God-King, there is more to the information."

Zeus looked at Athena, displeased.

"Speak clearly."

Athena maintained her composure.

"God-King, according to the intelligence I have gathered, we may be facing a very dangerous god. Many old gods have fallen to Apokolips. The source also claims that Apokolips' new god can devour their power. What we face isn't some newborn god, but a very powerful enemy who has consumed the old gods with whom we warred in ancient times."

Zeus, who had been maintaining a careless attitude, now looked at Athena more seriously.

"What is the name of this new god?"
