Chapter 4 - The Price of Survival

The seven foxes circled around Kaelion.

Though the reason was still unknown, instead of all attacking at once, the foxes seemed to choose one among them to go forward.

Kaelion: So you're next, huh? Come on then!

The fox leapt forward this one seemed… different. As if it had learned from the mistakes of the previous one.

Without repeating those mistakes, it dashed toward Kaelion at full speed.

Kaelion swung his sword, but the fox jumped back a step, then lunged forward while the blade was still in the air, sinking its teeth into Kaelion's arm.

[-50 HP]

Kaelion: Agh! That hurts! (tries to pull his arm away) Let go!

The fox refused to release its grip.It hadn't expected Kaelion to strike blindly, without hesitation.

Kaelion: So you're stubborn, huh? Fine then!

He drove his sword upward through the fox's throat.

[-100 HP]

System Message:[50 HP] remaining.

Kaelion: I had to make a sacrifice with that attack…Otherwise, I could've lost my arm.Since this is a newly released game, I don't yet know the consequences of losing a limb…So I couldn't risk it.I thrust my sword into the fox's throat and in doing so, I ended up slashing my own arm slightly.

as well. It felt like a risk that had to be taken.

The remaining six foxes had learned from the mistakes of the two that had fallen before them. They had studied Kaelion's movements, his weaknesses, and the points they needed to strike.

Just as they were about to attack, a sudden, piercing howl echoed through the mist. The foxes froze, then, frightened, ran into the storm and disappeared.

Kaelion didn't understand what was happening, but his instincts told him one thing the strongest creature he would ever face was now approaching.

Even the foxes had fled from it.

Inside the storm, two red eyes appeared.
