Chapter 7 - You Are Here and So Am I: Part 2

Closing the door to his room and sitting down at his desk chair, Izuku let out a sigh of relief. He wasn't sure how often he would go on trips like that with his mother, but he would like to do it more. Their distant connection wouldn't stop him from bugging her, even if he felt a little guilty about it. If it would amend that rift between them, he would keep it up.

Having grabbed the comic from the kitchen table, he set it on his desk for later and opened up several internet tabs on his computer. They consisted of various websites containing data and research into support components for Heroes and how the field was developing. New technology was being discovered, and he was currently reading up on it. His own personal folders were also pulled up, as he recorded his own notes and research on the subject for his own purposes.

One of them being what he considered most important and what he was currently working on - the invention of Condenium.

The material was the same creation that built his old Mid-Gauntlets, and Izuku was researching the components to learn more about its versatility. It was lightweight, yet retained harder armor more durable than high-grade military tanks and fighter jets. Flexible and comfortable, with the ability to expand and compress. The facets of Condenium have always sparked his intrigue, and now he could delve into and explore its innerworkings.

He was never bad at schooling, but the science and concepts going into it were far beyond the knowledge he held previously. His nearly six years of studying and preparing were yielding their results, as he could competently comprehend and apply the intricate physics.

Getting to work, Izuku's fingers typed away as he picked apart every important piece of information and added it into his folder. He couldn't read up on any blueprints or schematics because of the patents protecting Condenium, which was why he was attempting to reverse engineer whatever he could learn.

Condenium was incredibly new, and even in the coming years from now would still remain expensive. An even bigger hurdle than price was scarcity, and the small amount created was being monopolized. Unless he had an in, he wasn't going to get his hands on it anytime soon.

There was a small knock on his door. "I'm making dinner now. I'll call for you in thirty minutes."

"Okay, mom," Izuku answered her through the door as he pulled up another tab. Hearing her footsteps move away, he collapsed the online video game he kept open. He'd hardly played the game at all, but it served as a good excuse to be on his computer a lot.

A ten-year-old boy analyzing and writing material equivalent to rocket science would get him in some hot water. His mother had already caught onto the fact he was a child genius. He aced all his assignments and got perfect grades. Outside of school, he was able to understand concepts beyond his age and act with greater maturity.

If not for the fact he was Quirkless, he might've been considered a prodigy.

What kept him from showing her everything he was working on were mostly concern and worry. Izuku didn't want to freak her out more than he typically did with everything he would get up to, and he didn't want her to possibly try stopping him from researching weapons and defense for Heroes. Her worry was earnest and he loved her for that, but it only got in the way. It took him forever to finally regain enough trust to be on his own without fear of running away again. He didn't want to fight and argue with her or anyone else.

He was trying to accomplish something serious. He couldn't be stopped again.

Shigaraki and Touya were already lost by now. He would have to try a different method if he were going to save them, and there are still many others out there who needed him. Time wouldn't wait, and neither could he.

Izuku wanted to get into the testing phase soon. He had several ideas he wanted to experiment with. Whether or not they all failed didn't matter as long as he learned from it and could push further. His bedroom wasn't ideal for conducting them, vividly recalling Hatsume's own trial and error that would have her blowing up the support student's lab on a weekly basis. Doing them at school would get him caught, and he doubted he could get permission. His bad luck would wind up getting him harassed and found out all too quickly.

Taking his phone out, Izuku read over his virtual banking balance. He had several million yen stashed away in a few accounts from investing in Hero Stocks. Turns out you could make a very good profit when you already knew which Heroes and agencies would become massive successes in the future. A little bit of saving up and converting his money into cryptocurrency had then spiraled into loads of spending cash.

The account pulled up was the one he could use for purchases, as the others were for reinvesting into even greater profits down the line. He hadn't touched it at all for obvious reasons. He would get caught in no time if he suddenly appeared with things no ten-year-old should be able to afford on their own.

He considered renting a studio or lab, which was contingent on whether he could remain anonymous or not. If the landowner found out the renter was a minor, that would backfire right in his face. The idea was saved as a last resort, in which he was slowly approaching. He didn't have any other alternatives to access and would soon hit a wall. There were some other ideas he wanted to test out for support, whether it would be used to aid his own Hero work or not.

He had to come up with something, and preferably without involving anyone else.

Hearing his mother call him for dinner, Izuku closed the apps on his phone and hid away his computer tabs. He could get to work sketching some more schematics on his tablet later.
