Chapter 51 - Chapter 51: Divine Hearing Test

Kael agreed with what Senzaemon Nakiri had said. Terunori Kuga was the perfect example—if Kuga hadn't reacted during that incident, it wouldn't have affected him personally, but the Chinese Cuisine Research Society would've paid the price.

Of course, there was a simple solution to that kind of problem: make an example out of someone. Once people understood how severe the consequences of reckless provocation were, no one would dare to try anything.

After chatting for a while, Senzaemon led Kael into another room.

"These are the gifts WGO sent you—or rather, the gifts my daughter prepared for you."

The room was filled with ingredients and seasonings, all rare or incredibly valuable. Without deep connections, getting even one of these would've been nearly impossible.

"It's because of the downsides of the God's Tongue, right? Nakiri-san talked to us at the Polar Star Dorm about it," Kael said.

"Alice already told you? That's right. Ever since Erina's mother lost control of her God's Tongue, we've been searching for a way to cure the flaw behind that ability. But even now, we haven't had any success."

Senzaemon looked at Kael with a rare hint of hope.

"Your appearance changed things. Your Special Ability, Divine Hearing, is similar to the God's Tongue. Maybe an ability of that level is the key to solving its flaw."

Since his granddaughter had already explained everything, Senzaemon didn't bother repeating himself.

"I can't make promises. The God's Tongue flaw is something the entire culinary world hasn't been able to solve," Kael said.

He shook his head. As someone with a literal cheat ability, he was confident he could fix the God's Tongue—but he couldn't reveal that yet. This was a problem that had plagued the entire culinary world for years.

Even Mana Nakiri, after becoming a Special-Class WGO Officer with the power to mobilize the entire culinary world's resources, still couldn't fix her own God's Tongue.

"We understand your concerns. These gifts aren't meant as a trade. We simply want your friendship. If one day you can help solve the flaw, we hope you'll lend us your strength. And if you cannot, that's perfectly fine."

Senzaemon smiled gently. They saw hope in Kael—but hope was only that: a possibility. No one could guarantee the God's Tongue could be cured.

Everything they were doing now was to build a good relationship with him. If Kael became capable of helping in the future, great. If not, his potential alone made him a valuable ally.

Kael nodded. Senzaemon truly knew how to treat people. He didn't pressure anyone, and he never made people uncomfortable.

"Oh, right. About your Special Ability… You haven't tested your Divine Hearing yet, have you? Would you like to? The Nakiri family has specialized facilities for Ability testing."

Divine Hearing was something Kael had mentioned himself. They'd verified it once, but there was no detailed data. Senzaemon wanted to know how Divine Hearing compared to the God's Tongue.

Deep down, he hoped Divine Hearing would surpass it—only then might it be possible to fix its flaw.

But Kael had to agree first. If he refused, Senzaemon wouldn't push.

"In that case, I'll take you up on the offer, I'm curious about how strong my Divine Hearing really is."

Kael smiled. He already knew exactly how powerful it was, but he owed the Nakiri family some face. They'd just given him an enormous gift—ingredients he needed to complete the Four Divine Senses. Staying on good terms with the Nakiri family could only benefit him in the future.

And Divine Hearing was an ability he planned to reveal anyway. Testing it was no problem.

"Then allow me to arrange everything. It'll take some time to prepare, so let's schedule it for tomorrow."

Senzaemon was actually able to test it anytime, but he didn't want to seem overeager. Inviting a guest over and immediately dragging him into testing would've been terribly rude.

After showing Kael the gifts, Senzaemon had dinner prepared. A Nakiri-level banquet was exactly what you'd expect—and Kael thoroughly enjoyed himself.

When he left, Senzaemon even arranged a truck to deliver all the WGO gifts to the Polar Star Dormitory.

Once Kael returned, Fumio Daimido heard that these items could help enhance a Special Ability, so she opened several empty rooms to serve as storage. The Polar Star Dorm had few residents and plenty of unused rooms, so she always approved reasonable requests.

Even when Shun Ibusaki used an empty room as a smoking chamber, she only scolded him lightly.

"Why would WGO send Kael-san gifts? And so many? I haven't even heard of some of these ingredients before."

Once the boxes were moved in, the residents, with Kael's permission, began examining them.

Most of the ingredients were things they'd never even heard of. The few they recognized were rare and expensive. And here they were—packed in crate after crate, filling multiple rooms.

"The WGO Special-Class Officer is Erina Nakiri's mother. Since Kael-san's Divine Hearing might cure the flaw of the God's Tongue, it makes perfect sense for her to support him," Satoshi Isshiki said with a smile. It didn't take much effort to figure out WGO's motive.

"These are really useful for me, but a lot of them can't be stored long-term. So once I finish recording everything with my Divine Hearing, we can split the rest among everyone."

Kael didn't need to consume the ingredients—he only needed to memorize them. But there was no way he could use up so many on his own. Sharing was the natural choice.
