Emily evaded the mid-range attacks from the girl, and the ones she could, she blocked with the lance she used.
Her lance was a very resistant and versatile model for use, apart from the thin attack tip it had, she could press a button that deployed different blades on the tip or even on the lance body.
These variants ranged from a trident, the thin blade or even a war mace with spikes across almost the entire body.
"Come on girl, you'll have to do better than that"
The girl's attack was relentless, throwing her fragmented sword and using it as a whip. Her tempered, sharp blades could easily cut flesh and strike at the speed of sound, making Emily's grip tremble.
Jumps, spins and flips in the air while attacking and evading; a reckless, creative and deadly form. If it weren't for her excellent handling of the different lance forms, she would have been in trouble already.
The whip-shaped sword moved in curves difficult to predict, it could extend from 2 meters to 5 meters with handle control, giving more space between each blade, but providing greater range.
Besides, she didn't know how, but at certain intervals, the sword stopped undulating like rope and became solid 2 meters long. It was thin and shiny, very resistant and the cord inside was made of material difficult to identify, but that accomplished the main task of making the sword flexible or solid when the user wanted.
The battle continued without a clear winner
'Lies', it was clear she had all the advantages, after all she wasn't alone.
In the middle of the fight, she realized there were several hundreds of subjects waiting from the shadows in the forest's darkness.
"Why don't you just stop playing with me and tell me what you want?, with those soldiers you have waiting, you wouldn't make me waste time"
Emily could well wait for Caleb and Ethan to arrive to help her with the other men, but it would still be risky with this woman present. Her best option was to get information and retreat before she got injured.
The girl's gaze fell on Emily's face. There was no emotion on the girl's face, it was neutral, beautiful and without evident imperfections, she could well be considered an idol or a doll for her beauty.
But her words didn't show the same beauty, they were elegant, but very cold.
"That's because if you weren't in trouble, he wouldn't appear, it also wouldn't be fun. Seeing the face of a codex while you torture their companion is something I haven't been able to appreciate in my life, Ha, although those monsters don't even have feelings"
'Codices?, what is she talking about?'
"I don't know if #13 told you, but he was very special, very special to me"
Emily began to think about the boy from the mission they came for.
"Seeing your face I suppose you don't know anything, another pawn for him to survive, he was infected by the other codices and went astray, so different from his past self"
Moving her hand to her back, from her backpack, she pulls out another whip-shaped sword.
Emily's gaze pales.
"I'll give you a quick death so you don't suffer anymore at their hands"
The attacks that before were a kind of tactic to hit, drag and cut; became a siege on any careless part of the body, evading Emily's defense, cutting and tearing her equipment clothing and sometimes deeper her skin and muscles.
Trying to avoid she did several backflips, but it was in vain because the girl threw an attack with her left sword, binding the lance, then with the button on the handle she hardened the sword and snatched the lance from Emily, releasing the sword with the lance she hardened her right sword and launched it toward Emily.
Throwing a downward slash toward her neck.
Emily pulled out her weapon and shot at the girl approaching, however, she released her sword and moved downward evading the weapon, then with a kick she hit the weapon she was holding and threw it far away.
Flexing her leg quickly downward, she dealt a kick in horizontal direction, taking advantage of the first attack and then finishing, doing a flip that hit Emily's head leaving her incapacitated for 3 seconds as she fell, when she regained consciousness she was on the ground and her opponent was looking at her with sorrow.
Emily's abilities were good, but physically she wasn't at the level of Cloe, Ethan and Caleb.
She didn't even know if she could enter the zone in this situation, her mental state wasn't the best from Cloe's disappearance, and even less from the soldiers waiting for the end of the fight.
"Maybe it doesn't matter, but I didn't introduce myself, my name is Rhaelle, I hope we'll be friends in another life"
Rising slowly, Emily answered
"I won't die for someone like you, I'll only leave when I get my companions to safety and can be satisfied with the result"
Tilting her head, Rhaelle answered.
"Someone like me?, Companions safe'?, don't you know what loss is?, what pain is?, what does tragic destiny mean?; You outsiders who don't belong to the district think everything in an idealized and unrealistic way, that's why you won't be able to protect your countries or your people. They're just empty promises, to sum up, you're a bunch of hypocrites"
Rhaelle's words were loaded with hatred and contempt. No one would understand the pain of someone who was in the district, and they wouldn't need them to understand, because it would be the districts that would change the way the world works.
"…", the words left a strong impression on Emily, she couldn't afford to think, still, one sentence remained impregnated in her mind 'You outsiders who don't belong to the district'.
That already gave her a vague idea of who she was facing, no wonder she was losing miserably.
Putting her hands in a defensive position, Emily prepared to give her all, even if it didn't work entering the zone, she would try to concentrate even more on her opponent and complement it by relaxing her body until it felt very light.
"Come"
With a hand gesture, she indicated to Emily to attack.
Her hands tightened for a moment, then flattened, her hand shot like a projectile at her opponent's face.
Rhaelle barely blocked with an arm movement, but then came a rain of blows toward what some would call the solar plexus.
In this world there was much theorized about pressure points, some doubted their efficiency, but others studied them with different purposes than doctors, combat.
Although it could delay, if Emily pressed certain points on the chest and arms correctly, she could take her out of combat, if it was a leg then make her limp.
All until her opponent decompresses the points and can slowly return to normal.
Rhaelle realized this.
"So pressure points, interesting"
Instead, she defended with some difficulty, she decided not to let the fight extend any longer.
Taking advantage of a kick going toward a pressure point on her calf, she received the blow, and hooked pulling Emily.
She tried to defend herself by hitting directly Rhaelle's neck, but was taken by the girl's hand to finally receive a fist to her stomach.
Holding her hand she pulled toward her left, Emily lost her balance, then was dealt a blow to the lower back, where the kidneys are located.
"!!waa", a groan was expelled from her mouth, then she rolled in intense pain.
Rhaelle distanced herself and took the weapon Emily had kicked away.
Crawling across the ground, intending to get out of her line of fire. But in an instant she came to her side and delivered a powerful downward kick to her back.
"!aaaaaaah!", a loud scream, was heard throughout the area.
Raising her foot, she flipped her over and kicked to turn her around.
She aimed her weapon at Emily's head.
"Goodbye"
But just as she was about to shoot, a whistle was heard, jumping to the side, a bullet impacted where Rhaelle had just been.
Rising instantly, she looked in the direction of the shot.
There she saw 2 figures, one was a girl with white blonde hair with clear blue eyes, so clear they were almost transparent.
She was holding the rifle Emily had set aside when starting the fight.
The other was a subject in military clothing and a somewhat terrifying mask.
