"That means, I need to increase my level, that's the only way you can increase yours. Hmm... your max skill has surely increased your strength. And Master system, what else can you really do?"
{I can reveal anything to Host... for example.}
WHOOSH!
Mirabella looked at the holographic map that unfolded before her, a detailed, topographical view of the starting zone. She blinked in shock.
"Is this?"
{Yes Host, Map of Galaxy Fall beginner round.}
"In my past life, none of us received a map," Mirabella said, a new resolve hardening her expression. "Venturing to the City was difficult. We lost almost all our teammates to monsters, and Monster Bosses, simply because we didn't know where we were going."
The map in her hand was a massive advantage—a way to bypass the chaos and bloodshed that had defined the game's beginning.
Cupcake shrunk smoothly, the massive tiger condensing into a sleek, winged version of its feline form, landing silently on Mirabella's right shoulder.
"Look here." Mirabella pointed to a prominent cave icon on the map. "This is a Boss's hideout... The Wolf King."
"Master, did you figure that out from the name and the red skull on the map?" Cupcake asked, its deep voice quiet now.
"I didn't face this monster before, so I don't know how powerful it is," she confessed, a nervous chuckle escaping her. "But the red skull must mean something, right?"
{Yes. The map marked with a Red Skull is indeed a Boss, but this boss is a lot stronger than Host, and can easily kill Host.}
"Ok... What about the other colours?"
{The ones with the yellow skulls are at the same strength as Host, but can still Kill Host if Host isn't careful.}
{The ones with the green skulls are weaker Boss... Elite monsters, and are weaker than Host.}
"What about their levels?"
{Red Skull: Lv20 To Lv100.}
{Yellow Skull: Lv10 to Lv19.}
{Green Skull: Lv1 to Lv9.}
{Color and Levels will change as Host advances in levels.}
Mirabella sighed, noting the density of green skulls. "I am a Level one, but thanks to my maxed skills, I can face a Lv10, easy," she calculated. Mirabella stared at a quickly moving red dot on the map, zipping past ruins, heading towards the cave.
"I hope I don't run into this Boss, it is so fast… maybe it's flying," she muttered. "At least we can farm without getting near it."
CLANG!!
The sound of metal clashing resonated from the map. Mirabella and Cupcake turned their heads to the southern side, where two crossed swords in the shape of an "X" appeared over a Yellow Skull.
{Before Host asks... whenever there are double swords on a Skull, it means that Boss is in battle... If the Boss is killed, the skull will disappear from the map.}
"This is just like a CCTV camera on earth... I can monitor everything in this forest," she observed, a predatory gleam in her eyes. "Well then, why don't we go and watch the show?"
She turned to Cupcake, who simply nodded its head.
SHRIEK!!
"Finally decided to reveal yourselves."
The two turned right, seeing ten small Critters walking out from the bushes, their red eyes fixed on them.
{Information.}
{Lv2 Critters...}
{Weakness: Weak against Elemental attacks.}
{Difficulty: Very Easy.}
{Attack: 20.}
{Health: 100.
{Defense: 50.
{Agility: 10.}
"Thanks to my boosts, I am a lot stronger than a Lv2 monster," Mirabella smirked, dismissing the map with a wave. Her legendary staff materialized in her hand with a flick of her wrist.
"You guys would be a good test subject for my new bloodline."
WHOOSH!
Cupcake, with a beat of its wings, shot toward the three-foot-tall monsters.
"Hey! Leave some for me!" Mirabella yelled, and raised her staff high.
"Arrow Storm!"
WHOOSH!
Five arrows of pure magical energy appeared above her, flying forward with intense accuracy. They collided with five Critters. The creatures dropped instantly with a thud.
"Oh? I forgot these guys are just level two... But I am in a hurry... A boss is waiting to be killed! Now... Let's test the main strength of these Arrow Storms."
BOOOM!!!!
Five blood-red arrows, now measuring two meters long, materialized above her. With a single command, they shot forward simultaneously, tearing through the remaining five Critters.
In less than five seconds, Mirabella had vaporized ten monsters. Even a Level 10 monster wouldn't survive that level of power.
"These guys are weak," she muttered, walking toward the scattered carcasses. "Ok then, let's take your soul fragments."
She tapped her Galaxy Fall bracelet. A light shone over the carcasses, and they dissolved into particles, forming ten green cards imprinted with the monsters' images.
"Monster's Soul fragments can either be sold in the city, or absorbed to increase your level... For now, I don't need Galaxy coins, so I'll just absorb all of you." She stretched forth her hand.
WHOOSH!
The cards dissolved into trails of light, flying into her body and merging with her core.
{EXP: 50/300.}
{50 more Low grade fragments to enter the next level.}
"Soul fragments are divided into three stages: Low, Mid, and High grades," she recited from memory. "System, what's your conversion rate from Fragments to EXP?"
{One Low grade soul fragment is equivalent to 5 EXP.}
{One Mid grade soul fragment is equivalent to 20 Exp.}
{One High grade soul fragment is equivalent to 100 EXP.}
"So one low-grade soul fragment is 5 EXP, while 10 is 50 EXP... Okay," she calculated.
"But four low-grade is only 20 EXP, while a mid-grade is 20 EXP. And five mid-grade is 100 EXP, the same as one high-grade. This is stupid, whoever set this is wicked, right, Cupcake?"
"Master wants to kill the bosses?" Cupcake prompted.
"Yes! But these Bosses in this round will also only give me low-grade fragments, and that's too slow," she complained, exasperated by the low yield.
{No, Host… Bosses have their own exchange rate.}
"Oh?! Then show me!"
