Chapter 90 - [91] : The Witch's Combat Style

Gray-blue house, first floor.

The empty hall had no furniture or decorations, only an altar placed in the room's center.

The altar was covered with various mysterious patterns, and in its very center stood an idol made of white bone.

This idol was roughly the height of an adult woman's arm, its features not finely detailed, showing only that it depicted a beautiful, alluring woman.

The idol's hair reached down to its ankles, the strands thick like serpents or tentacles, with an eye growing at the end of each strand.

It looked densely packed, beautiful yet horrifying.

Around the idol, three candles burned, the only light source illuminating the room.

At this moment, a woman with a round face and delicate features stood before the altar, reverently chanting in a low voice.

The warm candlelight shone on her face, making her look almost saintly.

She was Trissy, who had previously served at Lady Sharon's side, formerly Trissy the man.

Beyond the woman and altar, the empty first floor was filled with massive amounts of resentment.

Countless transparent figures wandered within, their faces bearing expressions of pain and hatred, men and women, large and small.

They circled the central altar, shrieking miserably, cursing the woman within with the most venomous expressions, yet unable to approach the candlelit altar.

They could only remain trapped outside, unable to draw near.

The beautiful Trissy completely ignored the curses of the numerous wraiths, conducting her ritual with perfect composure.

As she chanted, the surface of the bone idol began emitting a faint radiance.

This layer of light lingered on the idol, and the snake-like hair with eyes seemed to come alive, slowly writhing.

"Whoosh..."

Wind howled.

Accompanied by this radiance, the idol generated powerful suction. The invisible transparent figures were drawn to the idol, irresistibly drilling into it.

A fierce wind suddenly raged through the room, the idol like the center of a storm, drawing in all the invisible figures in the house.

Shrieks of extreme misery rang out one after another.

The radiance on the idol's surface disappeared, and bright red liquid seeped out, flowing down the serpentine hair.

Trissy took out a vial and solemnly collected the liquid, ultimately gathering only about half a bottle's worth.

Having collected the liquid, she seemed to relax slightly.

Just then, a crude silver mirror placed beside her suddenly changed, its surface seeping with crisscrossing bloodstains.

Trissy furrowed her delicate brows at the mirror, her expression growing dark.

She first reverently paid respects to the idol, ending the ritual, then picked up the small vial containing red liquid and tucked it into her bosom.

She quickly rose, pulled up her hood, and drew a gleaming dagger from her clothing.

After these simple preparations, Trissy instantly transformed from a pretty woman into a dangerous assassin.

She wiped her hand across her face, making her features blur, then scattered fluorescent powder over herself from head to foot.

Accompanied by whispered incantations, her figure completely vanished, concealed in invisibility.

The invisible assassin gripped her dagger and silently moved to the window, ready to deliver an unexpected attack to the intruders.

Through the window, Trissy saw a handsome man in a black coat climbing over the wall, carefully approaching the house with a revolver.

His emerald eyes sparkled brilliantly in the dim moonlight.

Trissy flipped out through the open window, her body light as a feather, landing without making the slightest sound.

The moment she touched down, she quickly rushed before the intruder, gripping her dagger with both hands and gathering her strength.

As if throwing herself into his embrace, Trissy pressed close to her target, thrusting the dagger forward with all her might.

"Crack!"

Confusingly, she felt no sensation of piercing flesh. Instead, she heard a crisp sound like shattering glass.

Time rewound a few dozen seconds, outside the house.

"Don't go in yet. Let me try to pull the person inside into a dream."

Before the dilapidated garden, Dunn said quietly to the two men.

Once both had stopped, he pressed his brow, bent down, and closed his eyes.

Invisible ripples released from within his body, his coat billowing restlessly.

Tranquil and peaceful power suddenly descended, quietly penetrating through the walls into the house.

Before the altar, the round-faced woman, preparing to counterattack, immediately closed her eyes and fell into a dream.

In the dream, she had already prepared her countermeasures, but in reality, she merely stood in place, doing nothing.

The Captain is really strong...

Watching Dunn's actions, Silas sincerely admired him.

He'd also seen a Sequence 6 "Soul Assurer's" "Dream Entry," and for some reason, when it came to this ability, he always felt Dunn was no worse than those one sequence higher.

As Dunn's ability activated, invisible ripples surged by the first-floor window, and a hooded woman's figure suddenly materialized.

Her eyes closed, she stood motionless, as if trapped in a dream.

It's the witch!

She's already at the window!

Silas was slightly startled but didn't dare make a sound.

Following Leonard's example, he drew his revolver and aimed at the woman by the window.

"Crack!"

A crisp sound like shattering glass rang out. Dunn's dream was shattered, and Trissy slowly opened her eyes.

Seeing several people appear out of nowhere, that pretty face showed a trace of confusion, her small mouth slightly open, looking quite pitiable.

But both Silas and Leonard pulled their triggers without hesitation.

"Bang! Bang!"

Their demon-hunting bullets fired in succession, striking Trissy's head and chest.

With a sharp crack, her figure became flat, ultimately transforming into a shattered silver mirror, while her actual form disappeared once again.

At the same time, Dunn also opened his eyes. He immediately drew his revolver and quickly rushed toward the mansion.

"Follow me!"

Leonard shouted to Silas.

Silas followed close behind, the third to rush into the first-floor hall.

He saw the residual resentment of the dead within the room, along with several wandering deceased figures.

The woman stood before an altar, picking up something wrapped in white cloth. Since it was already wrapped, he couldn't see what it was.

But the instant he saw that object, his ears twitched, and once again he heard the faint, seductive female whisper.

Is that thing making the sound?

Silas thought.

Trissy looked at the three intruders, smiled slightly, and her figure vanished once more.

"Bang bang!"

The bullets Leonard fired struck the floor where she'd just been standing, sending up sparks.

Seeing Trissy was no longer there, Leonard's eyes quickly searched the room while reciting a tranquil verse.

"Wooo..."

Just then, a cold wind seemed to howl through the room.

Several transparent figures that had been wandering inside instantly became intensely cold, shrieking as they lunged at the men.
