Chapter 241 - [242] : Fragmentation

"Hang in there..."

Klein supported Silas as they quickly passed through the East District streets.

The melee between the two forces allowed them to successfully escape the scene.

Mr. A's rage and madness seemed still before their eyes.

If it weren't for the Red Glove elites who caught up later and entangled with him again, they would definitely have had bigger trouble.

Using the dim night and his own magical illusions, Klein stealthily infiltrated all the way, finally carrying Silas back to the front of his rented apartment.

"Cecilia!"

Using the key from Silas's pocket to open the door, he rushed in shouting.

Looking around, the living room was empty.

Only one of the gas lamps on the wall was lit, and the lamplight shrouded the furnishings inside in a layer of dim yellow outline.

Where did Cecilia go?

Klein thought worriedly.

Just then, footsteps suddenly came from behind him. He turned around warily and saw a black-haired girl appear from nowhere, gripping a dagger in her hand.

"Oh, you're here."

Klein relaxed slightly.

So she had hidden in the darkness using "Assassin" abilities. Her concealment skills were really good; he hadn't even noticed her...

"...What happened to my brother?"

She put away the dagger and walked forward, supporting Silas who had a face full of pain and madness and was muttering to himself. She asked calmly.

"Uh... I'm very sorry, our plan had a slight accident..."

Klein made eye contact with those azure eyes and stuttered through an explanation.

When they left here in the afternoon, her brother had been fine, but when he brought him back, he had become this deranged.

This made him feel very embarrassed and guilty.

Facing this girl who had literally dug up her brother's coffin, he felt somewhat numb in the scalp, afraid that she might suddenly pull out a dagger the next second.

However, to Klein's surprise, she didn't go berserk, and didn't even say anything to embarrass him.

She just listened quietly, then helped Silas sit on the sofa.

"I should have gone with Silas at the time..."

She sighed and said.

"I'm sorry, I failed to protect him properly."

Klein said full of apology.

But she was no longer paying attention to him.

She first turned and went into the kitchen, brought out a large plate of prepared fresh meat and fed it to Silas.

The latter instinctively devoured it all, and his condition improved slightly.

After this, she skillfully fed Silas a transparent potion contained in a glass test tube, making him calm down.

Cecilia's methods are really skilled. How long has she been taking care of Silas...

Klein thought admiringly.

After completing these emergency response measures, the black-haired girl took out a cracked mirror from her body.

The frame of this mirror was golden with fine scales protruding, appearing exquisite and antique.

She sat next to Silas, pressing close to him. One hand held his shoulder, the other held the mirror before him.

"Silas, look here."

She said in a gentle tone.

Klein was surprised to see a golden eye emerge on the mirror's surface, its pupil vertical, like a legendary dragon.

With the appearance of this eye, some invisible pressure seemed to spread from within the mirror.

But in the next moment, the mirror seemed frightened. Its aura suddenly retracted, the eye shrank back, and it returned to being an ordinary mirror.

It seemed unwilling to directly face Silas in his current state.

"Come out."

The black-haired girl said with a heavier tone.

Seeing the mirror still had no response, she directly smeared Silas's blood on the back of the mirror.

The mirror, as if receiving a terrible threat, was forced to reveal its pupil and treat Silas's mental condition.

Silas opened his vacant eyes and made eye contact with the mirror, accepting the suggestion.

"Crack!"

Several more fissures appeared on the mirror surface, the shattering sound like some kind of wail.

Accompanying this sound, that golden eye exploded. With a "crash," the mirror completely turned into glass fragments and fell all over the floor.

This Beyonder item was thus completely destroyed, and the Beyonder characteristics contained within slowly precipitated out.

"Cough, cough..."

Silas gasped heavily, coughing, like a drowning person breaking through the water's surface, and opened his eyes.

As soon as he opened them, he saw his sister's face. That delicate, beautiful face was looking at him full of worry.

"Brother, how do you feel now?"

The girl asked with concern.

"Not bad."

Silas smiled bitterly.

Although he had temporarily regained consciousness, that trace of divinity had already deeply merged into his consciousness and his flesh and blood.

The lingering effects it would bring couldn't be determined.

Raising his head, he saw Klein's face full of guilt.

"I'm sorry, Silas."

He said, "I couldn't help you."

"Being able to rescue me from the scene was already very good."

Silas shook his head.

With Klein's current Sequence, if he had really participated in that battle, he would only have been caught in the crossfire.

He was about to say a few more comforting words when anger involuntarily surged in his heart.

The corners of his mouth uncontrollably curved up, and he let out a contemptuous sneer.

"Ha, that's what happens when you're always hiding. Too scared to take on Lanevus yourself?"

Mocking words drilled out of his mouth, full of provocation. "You're already a Magician, do you still need to play the Clown? No, you're simply a real clown!"

Seeing his performance, not only Klein but even his own sister seemed stunned.

What's going on?

I didn't mean to say that!

Silas quickly stopped his mouth.

But in the next moment, an even colder, more cruel emotion dominated his mind. He sneered and looked at Klein, saying, "As an apology, twist off your head..."

As he said this, black goat horns sprouted from the top of his head, showing signs of "Demonification."

Klein retreated in terror. Magma was even spouting from Silas's palm, creating a lava longsword, as if he was about to get serious!

But his sneer didn't last long. His other hand grabbed his wrist, his body trembled violently, stopping the demonification process and forcibly controlling his own actions.

"Sorry, there's something wrong with me..."

He explained with difficulty.

My consciousness is being affected by the sheep souls!

Silas thought.

It was as if his spirit had been split apart. He was sometimes cold, sometimes laughing madly, sometimes mocking sarcastically, sometimes shouting angrily, resonating with those sheep souls deep in his flesh.

The divinity dissolved in his body, allowing his consciousness to have deeper contact and communication with the sheep.

This should have been something experienced only at higher Sequence levels, but he had encountered it here.

My mental state is becoming more and more problematic!

Silas cursed inwardly.

This trace of pure divinity had brought him enormous trouble!

"By the way, Klein. What about my Beyonder item? Did you bring it with you?"

He asked Klein, enduring the torment of mental fragmentation.

"I brought it."

Klein showed him a pristine white rib.

"Huh? What's this? Where's my 'Agony'?"
