Chapter 27 - The Beginning

I was able to finish this in time, thank god, anyhow, I hope you guys enjoy this part as I was stuck on how to create it.

August 21

"Hu, hu, hu," Panting, North was jogging on a mountain path. Shadows littered the path he was on, only faint light shining through.

He was by himself today, with it supposed to be a break day, but with the race coming up in 2 weeks, he felt restless. The idea of stopping made his hands twitch in response, his body rejecting the idea of resting, even when it knew it was for the better.

"Hu, hu, hu," It usually would be easy to shrug off, but the recent stress was getting worse. The twitching of hands, random moments of stress and dread, it was all becoming more sudden and apparent.

'Oguri would've-' North quickly shook the stray thought away, decided it was a sign to take a quick rest.

Slowing down, he sat on the ground against a tree, his hand twitching from any form of resting. "It's just a race."

He repeated these words, like it was some form of self hypnosis that would help him rest. Yet these words never changed anything.

North brought his legs inwards, instinctively hugging them as he rested his head on his knees. The sun that shined through the gaps of the leaves brought a relaxing warmth, faint words of rest floating in his head like a siren calling to a weary sailor.

'Maybe a nap would be good.' North slowly closed his eyes with the thought, each moment bringing the words of rest.

Eyes heavy from the late nights of staying up, the thoughts of racing against Oguri finally faded away from the sleep invading his thoughts. It was all finally leaving him to rest in peace that he needed.

The world was telling him to rest, Ego told him to rest today, Charles asked if he wanted to watch a movie, and he got a text from March asking if he wanted to meet up. The signs of the people around him telling him to rest were finally being welcomed by his brain, yet the body didn't, the twitching of his fingers to the constant need of moving that was hovering in his mind, it all told him to continue moving, training, a constant reminder of his race.

Getting up from the ground, North shook the sleepiness that was forming before going back to jogging.

"It's been a while, hasn't it?" A purple haired uma said, her eyes glancing to the blonde in front of her.

"It has only been a year, Moonie~." The blonde said, slightly teasing her with the nickname.

"Tch, stop using that strange name, Charles." She said, a faint tick mark appearing on her forehead as she glared at Charles.

Charles rolled his eyes, not caring for her annoyance. "So~, why did you call me for Moon?"

Moon, full name New Moon, looked out the window, taking in the sight of the city. "I just wanted to talk."

"As if, the only times you wanted to so-called talk was when you yelled at me for beating you during the Prix Greffulhe." Charles said with a snark, he purposely exaggerated his body language, trying to embarrass the Uma in front of him.

"I did not yell at you, and stop trying to get me off topic. I've waited long enough for you to arrive here. My patience is great, but even I have a limit."

"...yeah right.." Charles muttered to himself, not caring that New Moon could hear him.

"You piece of…calm down New Moon, you're better than this, he is just a brat that isn't worth your time." She took a deep breath before calming her face down, the migraine that was starting to form softening.

"Anyhow, ignoring your rude comments, I wish to ask about a certain Racer."

Charles looked at her, raising a single brow with curiosity. "I never thought of you as someone to be wary of some Uma from a 'backwater' racing scene."

Moon looked at Charles with a slight glare, letting out a sigh. "While I do believe that I will win even without said information, she was able to beat the so-called 'King of Europe'."

With her voice sounding proudly confident in her self-assured victory, Charles could only let out a slight snort at her response. "If you're going to ask information about Oguri Cap, then I don't have much to say other than she is overwhelmingly strong for a Japanese Uma, she could probably race in the European scene and come out with a few G1 wins."

New Moon stared directly into Charles's eyes, trying to find any information that he might be trying to hide. Charles only stared back, his eyes not blinking once.

They never glared at each other, never showed anything other than a relaxed pose, their eyes completely relaxed despite the intentions hidden in their minds. The air was a steady relaxed feel, but yet, it was a completely wrong sensation in the place, feeling like soft touches on the skin despite no such actions.

"Alright, I'll believe you, but I do want to know something else." New Moon said, her voice cutting the budding atmosphere. Charles raised his brow slightly, motioning he was listening.

"Are you going to participate in these races aswell?" Moon asked softly, her eyes glancing to the window.

"I am." Charles nodded.

"Alright, then I have nothing else for you. You may leave." Moon said, standing up before leaving Charles to his own devices.

Charles said nothing as he watched her leave, he got up from the sofa, stretched and left the room.

September 7th

"HELLO EVERYONE, WE ARE HERE TO CELEBRATE THE GRAND OPENING FOR THE BRAND NEW RACE CREATED BY THE EFFORTS OF TRACEN ACADEMY AND THE URA!"

The sound of cheers followed the voice coming from the speakers, excitement perpetrated the air as the sound of anticipation vibrated the air and stomped against the stadium.

"THANKS FOR THE OVER 200,000 THOUSAND PEOPLE THAT WERE ABLE TO SHOW UP IN PERSON, AND THANK YOU FOR THE MILLIONS WATCHING FROM HOME!!"

"TODAY IS AN UNPRESENTED SHOWING FROM THE PEOPLE AND WE HOPE TO MAKE EVERYONE EXCITED WITH THOSE RACING TODAY!!"

"AS YOU ALL KNOW, TODAY IS THE GRAND OPENING FOR THE BRAND NEW GOLDEN GATES SERIES, THERE ARE 5 RACES IN THIS SERIES, WITH THE FIRST BEING HELD HERE IN KYOTO NEAR THE FUJINOMORI SHRINE!!"

"THE RACE WILL BE HELD SOON AND I HOPE FOR EVERYONE TO BE EXCITED FOR GRAND SPECTACLE THAT WILL BE SHOWN!!"

WIth the announcer taking a small break, the crowd was in a state of constant talk and excitement. In one of the private rooms belonging to North, the sound of their excitement was somehow audible there.

"Are you ready?" Ego asked, his glasses slightly gleaming from the fluorescent light. His eyes looked at the trembling North.

"More than ready." North answered, his eyes that were staring at the floor rose, staring directly into the eyes of Ego.

Ego stared at the clenched fist of North before looking to the sight of a dark aura surrounding his trainee. Dark tendrils squirmed around, as if trying to find a specific target, while dark hands were grasping its bleeding hands around North's legs.

"Alright." Ego closed his eyes, turning away from the dark figure of North.

North simply looked at his trainer for a second before looking at the mirror reflecting himself, his eyes glancing at all the information of the body in front of him yet it was of nothing of importance to him. The knowledge of who was racing being the only thing of importance to him, a certain gray beast he promised to kill.

'oguri, I'LL MANGLE YOU!'

I hope it was alright, this part was rather rough but I think it will work. Anyhow, I am more or less back on the groove of creating, don't know how long that will last but I will try to create as much as possible for future things like what happened.

Hope you guys have a good day.
