Chapter 41 - Chapter 41 The Night Before the Race

"Are you nervous?"

Kagura sat on Rudolph Symbol's bed, massaging her as she asked.

"Not really. Much calmer than I expected."

Perhaps it was because she had been practicing the new running style lately, like a student who has thoroughly reviewed for an exam and knows the questions will only come from the question bank. Rudolph Symbol felt less nervous today than she had anticipated.

"That's good. It's just a relaxed race anyway. You just need to run according to your feelings, young lady."

"Hmm… I'm really sorry to have troubled you to come all the way to my dorm."

"I told you, there's no need to be so polite."

Kagura came to Rudolph Symbol's dorm tonight specifically at Rudolph Symbol's request. Originally, Kagura was in the Ritto Dormitory helping Excellent Quality with her homework. After all, school had started, and Excellent Quality now had daily assignments. She would save up the problems she encountered in her homework and resolve them all at once when Kagura had time to tutor her.

So when Kagura had to leave temporarily today, Excellent Quality looked very disappointed. Kagura could only hug her to comfort her and promised to bring her some radish cake, which she loved, tomorrow.

Kagura's massage techniques had improved considerably during this time. Rudolph Symbol seemed to be thoroughly enjoying it, her ears happily wiggling while she was lying down. Kagura rarely saw her show such an expression in front of others, indicating that she was indeed in a good mood now.

Actually, for Kagura, it would be more convenient to sit directly on Rudolph Symbol to apply pressure, as her hands weren't very long, and a small child like her sitting lightly wouldn't be felt much. However, Kagura didn't do so because she felt it would be too disrespectful to Rudolph Symbol.

"Kagura… have you ever thought about home? Do you miss the feeling of home?"

Rudolph Symbol, who was lying down, suddenly asked.

"Why are you suddenly asking this question?"

Kagura actually had no feelings for the word 'family' now. After all, she couldn't return to her original world, and she was living quite well without a family in this world, so her attachment to home wasn't that strong.

"I just remembered something a friend mentioned before… I was just curious, so I asked casually."

"No, I haven't thought about home. After all, I can't remember anything, and I'm living perfectly fine on my own now."

"I understand…"

Seeing Kagura answer almost without hesitation, Rudolph Symbol nodded. The question she had wanted to ask for a long time finally had an answer, and she no longer intended to bring it up.

Rudolph Symbol had to admit that Kagura's technique was indeed excellent, and her strength was perfectly controlled. Rudolph Symbol felt that her grandmother was truly lucky to have found a child like Kagura at her doorstep, and she believed that if luck was a real thing, then this use of it was worth it.

Feeling Kagura's comfortable and peaceful aura, Rudolph Symbol, enjoying the massage, gradually began to drift off. She felt Kagura's pressure start to lessen.

"Goodnight, young lady…"

Kagura noticed that Rudolph Symbol was getting drowsy, so she gradually reduced the pressure to avoid waking Rudolph Symbol. Tomorrow was Rudolph Symbol's second race, and it was the first race Kagura was supporting Rudolph Symbol in. She naturally hoped Rudolph Symbol would perform well, which would also help her improve her daily work content in the future.

Stopping the massage, she quietly turned Rudolph Symbol over to let her lie down normally and rest well. Then Kagura softly left Rudolph Symbol's dorm, closed the door, and returned... After returning from Rudolph Symbol's dorm, Kagura pushed open the door to her own dorm. She had planned to go to bed early and wake up early tomorrow to watch Rudolph Symbol's race, but when she returned to her dorm tonight, she smelled a faint fragrance, and that scent clearly didn't belong to her. This meant that someone other than her had been inside.

Kagura immediately cast her gaze towards the other bed in her dorm. Sure enough, the bedding and other bed supplies, which had been untouched for several months, had been disturbed.

Looking closely, Kagura also found a note on the table:

'Thank you, Kagura. You've been cleaning my bed while I was away, haven't you? You've gone to so much trouble! Thank you very much! Here's a small token of my appreciation, please accept it!'

The handwriting on the note was elegant and graceful, looking like the script of a well-bred young lady. It was evident that the sender must have practiced calligraphy.

—Oh, your Roommate is back? I wonder what kind of child she'll be.

Eclipse had been curious about Kagura's Roommate for quite some time, but unfortunately, for so long, from summer all the way to the start of school, that mysterious Roommate had never shown up, not even returning to the dorm. If Kagura hadn't been cleaning it constantly, that bed would have been covered in dust long ago.

Besides the note, there was also a small pink gift box pressed under the paper. The delicate gift box was beautifully wrapped, and its pink appearance was very pleasing. Kagura could vaguely smell the scent of cream and fruit wafting from inside.

'This smell… it's cake, isn't it? So this is the welcome gift from my Roommate?'

As an experienced foodie, Kagura was very sensitive to the aroma of various delicacies. She immediately identified what was inside. She curiously opened the package, and as expected, it was cake, adorned with strawberries, yellow peaches, mangoes, and other fruits. The entire cake also emitted a faint durian aroma, and by its appearance, it certainly wasn't cheap.

Curious, she took a bite. Kagura was even more certain that this was definitely not the kind of mass-produced cake one could buy at an ordinary bakery. The price of this cake was undoubtedly far beyond what one usually saw, definitely the kind of high-end product Kagura usually wouldn't even dare to look at. It seemed her Roommate's family background must be quite good.

Unfortunately, Kagura still hadn't met the mysterious Miss Roommate tonight. Although she should have returned today and even left a gift, she didn't seem to have much time to stay at Tracen and socialize, leaving these things behind before hastily departing.

"How strange… What exactly is this classmate doing every day? She hasn't returned to school for classes in so long, even if it's just to slack off in PE."

After contentedly finishing the cake she received, which was an unexpected surprise for Kagura, it was a pity that she still hadn't seen where the other person was, nor did she understand why the other person kept not returning.

However, this situation today also indicated that her Roommate hadn't left, but simply couldn't come to the dorm due to certain reasons, only occasionally showing up like today.

'Who could it be?'

—Alright, alright, child. You'll have plenty of opportunities to meet your Roommate later. You still have a race to watch tomorrow, so be careful not to oversleep.

Eclipse's reminder quickly appeared on Kagura's phone. Kagura thought that was a good point. Kagura, who had to wake up early tomorrow to go to the Racecourse, decided to put this matter aside for now. After quickly washing up, she turned off the light and went to sleep.
