Chapter 19 - Chapter 19: I didn't want to agree originally

"I refuse."

Rosaria refused Durandal's proposal without hesitation. Durandal was not angry at his decisiveness; on the contrary, her gaze towards him became more satisfied.

She extended her right hand, and a magic orb continuously condensed in her hand, emitting a fiery glow.

Durandal placed the magic orb on Rosaria's chest. As the orb touched Rosaria's skin, it slowly merged into Rosaria's body, completely disregarding his personal wishes.

The next moment, Rosaria felt a surge of scorching power within him. This power was completely different from the Cryo Vision he possessed; it was the power of [Pyro].

This power continuously condensed within his body. He was very uncomfortable, clenching his hands. He had to release this power from his body.

He summoned the spear he always used, continuously brandishing it as he usually did in combat.

Only this time, what appeared was not the power of ice, but flames, flames that burned everything.

His gaze fell on a few nearby Ice Slimes. He rushed over at an extremely fast speed, and flames accompanied his spear as it sliced through the Slimes' bodies, easily turning them into materials one after another.

But this was not enough. Rosaria continued to brandish his spear. This time, he not only used the power granted to him by the magic orb but also the power of his Vision.

It is well known that elements can react with each other. The two elements of ice and fire can produce a Melt reaction. Whether it is fire reacting with ice or ice reacting with fire is not a big problem for the current Rosaria.

After more than ten minutes, Rosaria finally stopped. At this point, he was drenched in sweat, and the [Slime] on his chest trembled with his heavy breathing.

Although he was very tired because he couldn't skillfully use the power of the magic orb yet, this power made him act unusually. He was stronger now than ever before.

"Very good. To be able to skillfully use the power of the magic orb in such a short time. You truly are a warrior. So, what is your answer now?"

"I'm sorry, but I still have to refuse."

Despite the wonderful power, Rosaria still chose to refuse.

Don't underestimate him. He's not the kind of battle maniac who would give up everything for power. He has his own principles. How could he possibly... [Swoosh!]

A whooshing sound came, and a formidable-looking spear landed beside Rosaria.

"This is a spear I crafted using a weapon prototype and my own power. I don't know its exact level, but it should be better than the one in your hand."

This spear was forged with Durandal's power and her original form's teeth. Its attacks carry a potent poison attribute. While not as intractable as Durandal's own venom, it can cause enemies to die within a short period and even impair their attack efficiency.

Rosaria silently looked at the spear. He tentatively picked it up. The spear was very light, but it was definitely much stronger than his Prototype Starglitter.

He wavered. In fact, he had already wavered when he felt the power of the magic orb earlier.

If Durandal were an evil God, he could insist on not accepting her things, but he understood that Durandal was not the evil God he imagined, and the situation was completely different.

"What do you want me to do? I will absolutely not do anything that harms Mondstadt."

"I have no interest in that. Rather, those who disrupt Mondstadt's peace are my enemies. If anyone dares to disturb Mondstadt's tranquility, I will make them pay the price."

"...I have no faith. Even if you force me to believe in you, I won't pray to you."

"It doesn't matter. The reason I want you to believe in me is just to find an excuse for you to accept what I give you. And then for you to help me with things, that's all. I don't even care for the faith of just one person."

"I refuse overtime."

"I won't disturb your daily life. You just need to occasionally help me with things."

"I... I..."

He couldn't do it anymore; he couldn't find any reason to refuse. Rosaria trembled. His inclination to accept had completely overwhelmed his refusal. If this continued, he would accept this deal.

"There's nothing wrong with this, is there? Didn't you want to understand if I would affect Mondstadt? If so, why not get closer? It's better to understand that way, isn't it?"

Durandal knew very well how to break through someone's psychological defenses. Rosaria just lacked a reason to convince himself, and this reason was best given by Durandal herself.

Durandal also gave him a way out. Wasn't he trying to observe her? If so, then come and help her with some things, agree to become her follower, and he could also come to her normally. Wouldn't such close-range observation be more conducive to gathering intelligence?

Rosaria thought for a moment, and realized, hey! That seemed to be the case! She was doing this for the safety of Mondstadt! She was sacrificing herself, definitely not because she had taken a fancy to Durandal's things, so she agreed. She had not violated her beliefs.

So what should she do now? Could it be that she should break her Meteor Thorn and swear allegiance to Durandal? Although Meteor Thorn wasn't a powerful weapon, that Children was also a spear. With her thighs, she probably couldn't break that kind of thing.

"I... I agree. I agree to become your follower, Durandal-sama."

Rosaria knelt on one knee in front of Durandal. Durandal was very satisfied with her attitude. With a wave of her hand, a bird flew to her hand.

"Usually, it will follow you. If you want to find me, let it notify me."

The bird obediently landed on Rosaria's shoulder and chirped softly at her, as if saying, "Nice to work with you."

Was this considered being monitored? Rosaria couldn't help but think.

But she didn't dislike Durandal's actions. This was actually quite good. At least she still had a way to contact Durandal.

She reached out and teased the bird a few times. Seeing that the bird didn't fly away because of her actions, but affectionately rubbed her fingers, a smile couldn't help but appear on her face.

"Although I don't have anything for you to do, when you're usually in Mondstadt City, pay attention to the Fatui's actions, understand?"

"Of course, those people usually take advantage of the night to act secretly. Especially those Agent, they have the ability to become invisible. Once they enter a state of invisibility, it becomes difficult to find them."

They don't make any footsteps after entering stealth, and have successfully assassinated many people with this method, making it extremely difficult to defeat them.

"In their current state, they can't even become invisible. If they are still as arrogant as before, tell me, and I will let them re-taste the feeling from before."

Re-taste the feeling from before? The feeling from before? Hmm! Rosaria remembered what happened at the Goethe Grand Hotel. So the culprit was you! Durandal-sama!

She didn't expect Durandal, as a God, to actually do such a thing. This was really... an eye-opener.

But she had to say that it was really well done! They should have taught those self-righteous guys a lesson long ago!

They usually flaunted their power in Mondstadt City, relying on their status as Snezhnaya envoy to spout nonsense. Even she couldn't find many opportunities to deal with them.

Now that she finally had a way to deal with them, Rosaria couldn't wait for Durandal to do more of these things.

Durandal finished explaining the precautions to Rosaria, and as she got up to leave, Durandal grabbed her hand and pulled her back to sit on the grass.

"Durandal-sama?"

"Rest for a while. You're not like me, you need to rest well. Your dark circles are very serious. How long has it been since you've had a good rest?"

Rosaria touched her eyes. Because her work could only be done at night, she spent most of her nights working, and she had to deal with church matters during the day, so her sleeping time was extremely short.

If she didn't have a Vision, with her way of working, she would have probably died from overwork long ago. It was a miracle that she was able to live to this day.

"But I still have things to do..."

"Isn't the most important thing for you right now to observe me and collect my information? Now that you have such a good opportunity, are you sure you want to waste it?"

She couldn't be like some platinum miss working a 007 schedule, right? Durandal couldn't let her subordinate, who she finally obtained with great difficulty, die suddenly due to lack of rest. She had to live well.

"... I understand."

Knowing that this was an excuse, Rosaria couldn't find a reason to refuse, so she could only obediently sit back in her previous position, lie on the grass, and close her eyes.

Although there was a God sitting next to her, Rosaria felt unusually at ease.

[It can be confirmed that she is a gentle God.]

Before long, she began to breathe rhythmically, indicating that she was really exhausted.

Durandal stretched out her index finger towards Rosaria, and a stream of energy flew out of Rosaria's body. These energies constantly took shape in front of her, gradually turning into a sphere the size of an average person.

"She has accumulated so much fatigue that an ordinary human would have already passed out, right? She can still manage to stay awake."

Just how long has it been since she had a good rest with that much fatigue? Really, if she really wants to protect Mondstadt, she should care about her own body. If she falls, there will be one less person protecting Mondstadt.

Under Durandal's control, the sphere continued to compress, eventually turning into the size of a lead ball, which she merged into her body.

This was an ability that Durandal discovered when Klee was asleep some time ago. She found that in addition to absorbing toxins, she could even wash out the fatigue in the human body.

Could it be that fatigue is also considered a Virus? This is interesting. This way, she will have more ways to deal with others.

Storing the fatigue of others, or transferring the fatigue to other people's bodies, this fatigue is not just physical fatigue, even how this fatigue was caused, the absorber will feel it.

"How long can this situation of showing mercy last? I need to continue developing this body's fighting style."

Compared to other Vision holders, Klee is strong, but that doesn't mean she won't encounter danger.

Durandal didn't want Klee to be hurt. Even though protecting her would hurt others, she was willing to pay this small price in order to protect the sunshine in her heart.

Just like Rosaria, except that she protects Mondstadt, while Durandal protects only the people she cares about.
