Chapter 63 - Chapter 60: I Refuse

"You guys are too much! You went out and ate delicious food behind my back last night! Aren't we companions?"

Early in the morning, Paimon, having learned that Durandal and Lumine went out together last night, started to clamor.

These two were truly too much, sneaking out to eat while she was asleep. Did they forget that she loved delicious food the most?

"But you were still asleep then. According to Lumine, you were even drooling."

Durandal adjusted her headpiece and continued, "Since you were resting, we didn't disturb you and just went out."

"So what if I was resting? If you had just called me and told me you were going out to find food, I would have gotten up immediately."

Whenever it came to going out to eat, no matter what she was doing, Paimon would always put it aside and go out with them, because those other things weren't as important as eating.

"Oh? It seems you have a lot of opinions, Paimon."

"Hmph! Of course! Paimon is angry now, the kind that can't be appeased no matter what."

Paimon crossed her arms, wearing an expression that said, "No matter what you say, I won't forgive you," which made Lumine and Durandal exchange glances.

Lumine chuckled a few times, and under Paimon's gaze, she took out two large bags from under the table, filled with various packed foods. These were what they had brought back last night.

Although they were cold, after heating them in the kitchen, they would become tempting delicacies again. Paimon watched, drooling, completely losing her angry demeanor from earlier.

"Since Paimon is angry with us, we'll just eat these ourselves. What do you say, Durandal?"

Durandal nodded, "It's fine if she doesn't eat. Originally, to maintain the food's freshness, I extracted all the bacteria near the food. Since she's angry, I'll deal with it."

The two spoke as they walked towards the kitchen with the food, completely ignoring Paimon, who was constantly swallowing.

Facing her two teasing companions, Paimon finally couldn't hold back and rushed over, shouting loudly.

"Don't forget Paimon, you bad guys!!!"

And so, breakfast was completed amidst laughter.

Lumine and Paimon went to the Adventurers' Guild together, ready to see what new commissions they had for the day.

Before they completed their commissions, Durandal planned to take a good stroll around Liyue Harbor and, by the way, continue her business from Mondstadt, to see if anyone needed her treatment.

The news of Young Master Chen's recovery had spread throughout Liyue Harbor. It was unknown whether it was spread by people within the Chen family or by those doctors.

In any case, everyone now knew about Young Master Chen's recovery and about Durandal, the divine doctor of mondstadt, arriving in Liyue Harbor.

Liyue Harbor was in an uproar. Both the poor and the Regrator hoped to find Durandal. The poor wanted medical treatment, while the Regrator, while seeking treatment, also wanted to try to win her over.

The current known news was that Durandal had accepted the property gifted by the Chen family. To avoid troubling Durandal, they also handled the relevant procedures for her, so she wouldn't have to worry about a certain legal consultant bothering her.

Now that the Chen family had a connection with her, other Regrator in Liyue Harbor also wanted to do the same, but they had already missed the best opportunity, and the difficulty of achieving this goal had increased several times over.

Durandal found a spot at the same place where she met Zhongli yesterday, and prepared to receive people who came to her for medical treatment.

The waiting time was not long. The first to approach was an old man who had been observing her from the side since the beginning.

He probably hadn't realized Durandal was the divine doctor of mondstadt, or perhaps he didn't know about it at all. The only reason he came over to talk was out of curiosity as to why Durandal, a girl, was sitting there.

Durandal briefly explained the situation, and the old man chuckled a few times, thinking it was a Children's game.

He didn't think much of it; he just wanted to play with the Children, so he was willing to act as a patient and let Durandal examine him.

As people age, problems easily arise, and the fatigue from his youth had left him with many chronic illnesses.

These were old ailments, and since his family wasn't wealthy, he wasn't planning on seeking treatment. After all, he was already so old, so he shouldn't trouble his family.

But what happened? Durandal spent just over ten minutes curing all his ailments. Whether it was the old hidden injuries or the diseases, they were all gone. He could even stand up without a cane, a transformation that shocked him.

Only then did he realize how powerful Durandal, whom he had treated as a Children, truly was, and how fortunate he was to have encountered such an existence.

But then he became troubled. The fee for treating such a person must be very high, and his family didn't have that much Mora. Even if he gave all his savings to Durandal, it probably wouldn't be enough to pay her back.

While he didn't know what to do, Durandal shook her head, stating that she didn't need much, just one hundred Mora.

What could one hundred Mora do? It could do quite a lot, but for medical treatment, that amount of Mora was useless. At most, it could buy medicine for a cold, let alone treat so many illnesses.

But Durandal insisted on only accepting one hundred, no matter how much the old man tried to persuade her to take more, he eventually had to give up.

Because of this, Durandal's reputation spread rapidly throughout Liyue Harbor.

The difference in consultation fees for the poor and the Regrator received a lot of praise. The only regret was that she didn't treat all illnesses. If it was a common illness, people should go to Bubu Pharmacy to see a doctor. If it was something Bubu Pharmacy couldn't solve, or a very urgent condition, then they could come to her.

In just one morning, Durandal received quite a lot of consultation fees, even many one hundred Mora payments, even though she didn't need that much Mora.

"Hello, Doctor. I am Zhu Yu, and this is my wife, Qinglian."

At this moment, Durandal met a very special patient. The man in front of her was strong, and his wife was very thin.

"Her cough has never gotten better. No matter how many doctors I've taken her to, or how many methods I've tried, none have been able to cure her illness. Please examine her, I beg you."

He was a sailor, working at sea before his wife fell ill, and had not been by her side for many years.

It wasn't until his wife contracted the illness that he realized he had neglected her companionship. He resolutely resigned from his job as a sailor to stay by her side and find a way to cure her.

Durandal listened to Zhu Yu's narration and then focused her gaze on the woman named Qinglian.

She was very nervous, her hands on her lap visibly trembling, and her eyes darted about, not daring to meet Durandal's gaze.

Durandal silently looked at the woman. She found no [Poison] on her, and even very little fatigue, which meant she was actually perfectly fine.

If so, why did her husband still say her illness was incurable? He didn't seem to be lying, so the one lying must be the woman.

Why would she lie to her husband? Durandal couldn't understand her reason for doing so.

Qinglian's gaze showed Durandal that she already understood the truth. She took Durandal's hand, shook her head slightly, and her eyes held a hopeful expression, wishing Durandal wouldn't tell Zhu Yu about this.

Did she hope that she wouldn't tell her husband that her illness was cured? Or that she had been deceiving her husband all this time?

Durandal couldn't understand. She didn't want to lie, nor did she deign to lie. Facing this woman who had no illness at all, Durandal merely extracted the slight fatigue from her body.

"She's better."

She didn't tell him that Qinglian wasn't sick, only that she had cured Qinglian's problem.

Did she lie? Of course not. She didn't say she cured Qinglian's cough. She only said that Qinglian's problem had been resolved. This answer shouldn't count as deception, right?

Zhu Yu was very satisfied with the result, and Qinglian was very grateful to Durandal for helping her conceal the matter.

Watching the two walk away, Durandal still didn't quite understand Zhu Yu's reason for doing what he did.

Their relationship was very good. If so, why would Qinglian still make her husband worry about her? Was there some hidden truth within?

She couldn't figure it out. Human emotions were truly complex, so complex that she hadn't understood them even after all these years.

She would ask Lumine when she got back. Lumine knew much more about this than she did, and she should be able to clarify the relationships involved.

The consultations continued. There were indeed many patients in Liyue Harbor. Even though Durandal had set restrictions, many people who met the requirements still came to her for treatment.

It wasn't until the afternoon that the number of people coming to her for treatment decreased slightly.

But after watching for so long, Durandal was a bit tired. After seeing the last patient, she announced that her consultation for the day was over and she was leaving.

This naturally caused those who had been waiting to wail endlessly, wanting to keep her but having no way, and fearing that forcibly keeping her would displease Durandal, causing her not to treat them.

They could only watch as Durandal left, heading towards the market.

She hadn't really walked around the market yesterday, so she decided to go there today. Maybe she would encounter something interesting.

However, on her way to the market, someone blocked her path.

This was a very beautiful person, and what was most striking were the two horns on her head, which were clearly not something a human should have.

...What do you want to do?

I'm very sorry to disturb you. I am Ganyu, secretary of the Sea Moon Pavilion. I'm here at the request of Miss Ningguang to invite you to the Jade Chamber for a gathering.

Ningguang, the Tianquan Star among the Liyue Qixing. She had heard about this yesterday from Old Master Chen. She seemed to be a very formidable person.

Many merchants wished to meet her, and to do business with her, they racked their brains to secure the qualification to meet her.

But... "I refuse," Durandal said coldly. "I have no interest in meeting her."
