Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: Shelter in the dark

"Ah, anyways, in this barren land, where do you even survive?" Anne loosened up, "The ecosystem of this place is completely underground" Michael glared at Anne, "where else do you think? Have you been roaming on the surface the whole time?" Michael's eyebrows frowned, he stared at Anne, "Perhaps that's why you look so angered."

"C'mon, let us go to my base, I'll explain later." Michael gestured for her to follow. They walked slowly through the land, Anne looked down at the rocks, some were burnt, yet some were wet, she picked one up, looking down at the space it left, Anne saw water, even in this hellish place there exists water? "Where did this water come from?" Anne looked up at Michael, he sighed, "The origin water had already gotten here? We need to go fast." Michael panicked, his muscles taut, he was ready to sprint, his sole pushed against the ground, leaving a crater. Anne ran towards him, after all, she trusted him.

Anne shouted towards him, "What's the originwater?!" Michael looked back, mouth muttering something, then, he finally answered, "It's the reason we live underground." Michael summoned his blade, with the mobility form, he could soar through the air. "The other me should've taught you this, no?" Michael smirked, "Oh, of course he did." Anne spread her arms like wings, ready to fly through the air majestically. Hells' Dancer appeared, wrapping itself in her arms, creating an artificial wing-like apendage, she soared though the air with this new form, a better form for airborne trasportation.

For how beautifully she was dancing through the air, the barren wasteland had only became a stage for her, building contrast for her preformance. After finally ariving at the "base" she had realized how truly pitiful this world and its inhabitants are. The opening looked like it was about to cave in, like a beast opening its maw, waiting for prey to crawl inside. She tried not to think of it anymore, but the more she looked, the worse it seemed, Michael broke the silence with a bizzare statement, "You might see this as a terrible place to live in, you may pity me, but after all this time, only one will stand on top." Anne was confused, what had happened for him to say that?

"Ah, let me explain about the orgin water," Michael gazed at the floor, tone serious but rushed, "It's the sap of the origin tree, the tree makes life, the sap takes lives. Touching the origin water will carry your soul back to the tree, as nourishment, you're quite lucky the water didn't touch your hand." Michael paused, he looked at the sigil in his hand, then looked at Anne, "Let's go to another place that we could live in for a bit longer, at least, till it arives."

Michael starts packing up, before exiting the cave, he sprinted, Anne followed right behind him, they sprinted for a while, it was almost too much. "Why are we running so much?! Why does the river of the "origin water" even expand?" Anne shouted, demanding an answer. "The second question answers the first." Michael answered calmly, even in this situation "The tree is producing more sap to get more nourishment, because it's malnourished, this one is obvious." Michael explained slowly, "The reason why it's malnourished... I have a prediction, but it may not be correct." Michael's voice softened, in fear and in joy, the emotions swallowed him, before Anne cut the silence, "Just tell me your guess."

"For a new god to rise, he must go through a reshaping of the body, to discard his mortality." Michael said, voice tremoring, "It means a new god had risen, the bark of it was made into skin, the a branch was crafted into a body, and the sap was used for the divination of the new god." Anne glared at Michael, "A god? Are you sure?" Michael stared back at her, "Tsk, you'll believe me after some time."
