Chapter Ninety-Four

Expulsion?!!

Darren silently cursed the system.

This thing really isn't human.

But he still obediently collapsed to his knees, letting his legs buckle as if he had no strength left.

The little girl flinched.

A moment ago she had thought he was incredibly strong… now she looked unsure, as if realizing he must have only been strong for a moment.

"I—I'm fine," Darren said gently, forcing a weak smile. "You run first. They're not after me, but if you stay, they'll catch you."

The girl stared at him, stunned.

Darren braced himself for the usual drama — maybe she'd insist she wouldn't leave him behind… maybe she'd cry…

She turned around and sprinted away at full speed.

Darren blinked.

…Wow. Tough kid.

[Ding! Stage 3 Mission Released:]

Keep up with the girl. When she collapses from exhaustion, carry her on your back for one kilometer.

Darren stared at the sky.

This system is sick.

He wanted to refuse — but he'd already come this far. Sighing, he jogged forward.

When he spotted the girl lying on the ground with a look of complete despair, he paused and splashed his face with water from a roadside bottle to make it look more dramatic.

The entire scene felt like some low-budget film set. No people. No shops. Just him, the girl, and that unconscious thug.

When Darren approached, the girl stared at him, confused.

She had been certain he'd collapsed… yet here he was, walking.

"Hurry," Darren said anxiously. "Climb on. I'll carry you."

She hesitated, then slowly climbed onto his back.

[Ding! A hundred Father Points may be used to simulate the host traveling one kilometer instantly. Use?]

[Use!]

Darren didn't hesitate.

His body in this scene card was only three or four years old. What if this girl was heavier than she looked?

The world blurred — and suddenly they were a kilometer away.

[Ding! Stage 4 Mission Released:]

Block the girl with your body and protect her from a spell attack, then pull her through the railing.

"…What spell attack?" Darren whispered.

There wasn't a soul around.

But, dedicated Holy Father actor that he was, he widened his eyes and threw his arms out dramatically in front of the girl.

The girl gasped.

Then, following the system prompt, Darren grabbed her wrist and yanked her through a low railing — as if saving her from imaginary danger.

[Ding! Stage 5 Mission Released:]

Walk a distance, then collapse slowly. Tell the girl:

'I'm fine… keep running… you'll be safe…'

Darren wanted to hit the system with a stick.

But he still walked forward, slowed, stumbled, and finally fell to his knees.

In a soft, trembling voice, he whispered:

"I'm okay… don't worry… just keep running… you'll be safe…"

[Ding! Scene Card Mission fully complete.

Projecting scene into reality.

Projection successful. The individuals involved will recall the scene within one day.]

Darren covered his face.

Wonderful. I've produced a full melodramatic childhood trauma movie for a stranger. Brilliant.

He exhaled—

—and snapped back to reality.

Malfoy was still in front of him, clutching his bruised eye and trembling with fury.

"POTTER, YOU'RE FINISHED!" Malfoy shrieked. "I'm telling my father! You'll be expelled!"

He spun and bolted toward the dormitory, muttering furiously about mother, father, punishment, and Darren being too "big for his boots."

Darren watched him go.

Child… even your father can't save you from Dumbledore's judgement.

He turned — and Neville burst into tears.

"D-Darren… Malfoy's going to tell his dad… W-Will they expel you?" Neville sobbed. "I'll explain everything to Professor Snape! He won't let them expel you! And if he still expels you, he can expel me too — I caused all of this!"

Darren sighed internally.

As if Lucius Malfoy could stroll into Hogwarts and fire someone under Dumbledore's nose.

But as the Holy Father, he couldn't say that.

So he put on a gentle, pale, self-sacrificing expression and whispered:

"Neville… don't be afraid. Even if I really am expelled… it's what I deserve."

Neville shook his head violently.

"I hit Malfoy. Violence is wrong. If the Headmaster expels me, I won't complain."

His green eyes shimmered with unshed tears — tolerant, kind, too selfless for his own good.

[Ding! Father +50]

[Ding! Father +30]

[Ding! Father +40]

[Ding…]

The Father Value flooded in like applause.

Just then, the stadium roared.

Ron and Hermione leapt up cheering — Harry had caught the Snitch. Again.

Finally noticing Darren's pale face and Neville's panic, they rushed over.

"Darren? Darren, what happened? Who hurt you?" Hermione demanded, frantic.

She always worried someone was bullying him — even when it was the opposite.

Darren opened his mouth.

"No, really, I'm—"

Neville burst in, full of fury.

"Hermione! Malfoy is going to tell his dad and get Darren expelled!"

"What?! Expel Darren?!" Hermione gasped. "Absolutely not! I'm going to find Headmaster Dumbledore right now — he'll fix this!"

She pointed like a general issuing orders.

"Neville! Go get Professor McGonagall! She adores Darren — she'll definitely speak for him!

Ron, go find Professor Flitwick—"
