Chapter 129 — Did You Forget Something?!!

Dudley was still cheering, clutching the motorcycle key like a newborn treasure.

Darren smiled warmly, then opened the large gift bag Harry had been carrying.

Inside were two designer handbags and two dazzling diamond necklaces.

Each necklace was made entirely of diamonds—beautiful, perfectly cut, perfectly set.

Naturally, they were made by Paggie.

Ordinary jewelers needed tools, polishing wheels, workshops…

Paggie needed nothing but a drawing.

As for the diamonds—there were far too many of them.

Paggie had taken the profits from selling diamond jewelry and exchanged them for shares in several large Muggle companies.

The car Darren had given Uncle Vernon, the motorcycle he gave Dudley, and the designer gifts for Aunt Petunia?

All of them were produced by companies where Paggie held major shares—so the items essentially cost nothing.

To the manufacturers, this was like giving a free car to a major shareholder.

So although Darren looked like he was handing out small fortunes…

The most expensive thing he'd given away today was actually the slimming potion in Dudley's hands—worth over twenty Galleons.

Extremely precious.

But Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia knew none of this.

They were delighted, touching the gifts, comparing them, discussing which one they liked best.

Just an hour ago, they were furious about taking in a second magical child.

Another "monster," as Uncle Vernon had called him.

Vernon valued order. He wanted nothing to do with the wizarding world.

And Petunia—Petunia had feared this more deeply than she ever admitted.

Two children to feed, two children to raise, on one salary…

And Dumbledore never considered her reality. He simply dumped Harry on her doorstep with a letter.

No money.

No help.

Not even Lily's body.

Just "take him in," and then he vanished.

And now another letter, informing her Darren would also be staying in her house.

Petunia always felt Dumbledore looked down on her—looked down on Muggles.

But when she saw Darren earlier… she went quiet.

Because Darren looked so much like Lily.

That polite smile.

That gentle voice.

That soft, thoughtful expression.

For a second, it felt like Lily had come home again.

Back then, Lily went off to Hogwarts while Petunia stayed behind—ordinary, overlooked, always the less-special one.

She loved her sister, but there was jealousy too.

When Lily died, no one explained anything.

They just told her, "Your sister is dead. A dark wizard killed her. You must raise her son."

And Petunia had children of her own.

She was terrified.

Terrified the killers would come to her home.

Terrified she couldn't protect Dudley.

Terrified of magic—terrified for Harry.

She told herself not to love Harry, so his death wouldn't hurt like Lily's had.

But years passed… and feelings grew anyway.

So when the Hogwarts letters came, she panicked.

If Harry went to that world, he could die there, just like Lily.

So she forbade it.

But Hogwarts insisted.

Harry went anyway.

And now—he had returned with another child.

Another reminder of Lily.

When Petunia overheard Darren speaking earlier…

The words about losing their parents—their sister—made tears spill down her face before she could stop them.

Now, she still didn't exactly like Harry…

But she suddenly understood she had been unfair to him.

As for Darren…

Such a polite, soft-spoken little angel—how could she not adore him?

And if he brought her more designer dresses next time… she wouldn't complain.

"Alright," Petunia said at last, smiling stiffly, "it's time to go. Darren, come along. I want to speak with you."

Uncle Vernon quickly pulled Dudley toward their car—well, one of their cars.

He was already thinking that tomorrow he might trade his own in and upgrade.

After so many years, he hadn't lost a thing.

If he added up the money they spent raising Harry… surely they were owed more than this.

And Darren had given Dudley a motorcycle and a rare potion worth who-knows-how-much.

Plus Petunia's designer bags and the diamond necklace—worth more than a year or two of his salary.

Darren was such a polite boy.

Harry's share?

Vernon assumed Harry had nothing to do with these gifts.

Harry didn't have the mind for thoughtful gestures.

And Harry hated them—and they hated him back.

This boy would never give them a penny.

But Darren?

Darren was good.

Like Dudley.

Vernon even considered giving Darren the second-floor bedroom.

Harry could stay in the cupboard or share with Darren.

He didn't care if Harry hated him more—he was already used to it.

Even Dudley was trying to impress Darren, rolling down the window to give him fresh air and loudly praising how handsome and polite he was.

Harry watched the whole strange, warm, bizarre scene unfold as the Dursleys piled into their car.

He stood alone outside King's Cross Station.

Watching the very same family—who had never been warm to him—drive away in a strangely cheerful mood.

And then it hit him.

After a long moment, Harry blinked and whispered:

"…Did you forget something?"
