Chapter 146 – Can I Give It to My Brother!!
After saying goodbye to Harry, Darren followed Nicolas Flamel and Perenelle through the wide London streets.
He recognized Nicolas immediately—he was the same old man from the vision card.
No wonder Flamel suddenly wanted to "take him in." So it really was because of that scene. Darren had more or less guessed it already.
"Boy," Nicolas said grandly, hands clasped behind his back, "aren't you going to ask me anything?"
Darren almost rolled his eyes. He had literally seen this man topple over in that vision like an exhausted grandpa. This dramatic act didn't scare him at all.
But in the real world, the Flamels shouldn't know about the vision, so Darren forced himself to look respectful.
After a moment he said hesitantly, "You probably want me to be your heir. Maybe Headmaster Dumbledore told you I'm clever."
He swallowed.
"And I defended the Philosopher's Stone once… so you decided to give me a chance?"
His expression made it obvious he wasn't thrilled about the idea, but had no choice but to come along.
Nicolas almost choked on air.
Did this child realize how many people would give decades of their life for his approval? And yet Darren looked like someone had asked him to do chores.
Did he think Flamel only had one Philosopher's Stone? That all he offered was immortality?
Nicolas assumed Darren wasn't impressed by eternal life and felt offended on behalf of all his other inventions.
"I have created many things throughout my life," Nicolas said, chin lifting in pride. "The Philosopher's Stone is only the most famous. Countless discoveries in the wizarding world have my hand in them."
He paused dramatically.
"Do you understand how valuable this opportunity is?"
He waited for Darren to flatter him.
For centuries, people had groveled for his favor. Yet this small red-haired boy had met him twice—and both times treated him like a fussy old neighbor.
"Nic—" Perenelle attempted gently.
Nicolas waved her off like a performer shooing away a stagehand.
She sighed, looking at Darren with sympathy. Nicolas was getting stranger with age. If you flatter him, he gets annoyed. If you don't flatter him, he also gets annoyed.
Darren would lose no matter what choice he made.
Truthfully, Nicolas hadn't intended to choose an heir at all before today. Darren had always been polite but distant, nothing like the gentle child Nicolas encountered in the spiritual vision.
Perenelle studied Darren closely. The old man's temper was enormous despite his centuries of life.
Darren watched them quietly… then suddenly bowed deeply.
Perenelle blinked. That wasn't surrender—it was composure. Calculation. This boy wasn't simple.
Even Nicolas frowned. This wasn't how Darren behaved in the spiritual realm. Something felt off.
Just as they were about to speak, Darren lifted his head and said softly:
"Of course Mr. and Mrs. Flamel are incredible. But… may I ask something?"
They both nodded, curious.
"Could you choose my brother instead of me?"
Both Flamels froze.
"I'm just an ordinary, well-taught child," Darren said quietly. "But my brother… he's the savior. He deserves opportunities far more than I do. I don't think I'm qualified."

"You do know what the name Flamel represents, yes?" Nicolas asked slowly.
He had not expected Darren to change his entire attitude… just to push the opportunity toward Harry.
To most people, this would seem like a small gesture.
But to the Flamels—who had lived centuries and seen every kind of greed—this was enormous.
"I know," Darren said. "Paggie told me. But it still doesn't feel right."
His voice trembled with sincerity.
"My brother saved the world. And he didn't get this chance. But I—who have done nothing—did? It feels unfair to him."

The Flamels grew silent.
Unfair? Did this child know what he had endured?
Was it fair that Darren spent eleven years in an orphanage?
Was it fair that Harry's fans constantly questioned Darren's right to the Potter name?
Was it fair that Darren entered Slytherin and was hated for something he never did?
And yet he talked only about fairness toward Harry.
If the Flamel family had once possessed a child like this, they would not have disappeared into obscurity for decades.
"Hmph. And you think we came here to make you our heir?" Nicolas snapped suddenly.
"What a joke. We can't even find an heir? We're only here to tell you—you have no hope!"
He puffed up in frustration, glaring at Darren.
Perenelle nearly smacked him with her handbag.
Who else could they possibly be looking for? Merlin?
But Nicolas was irritated. Darren reminded him of too many things—things he'd rather not remember. He needed to assert authority somehow, even if clumsily.
Darren suppressed a smile.
So Nicolas was choosing him… but his insistence on putting Harry first had rubbed the old man the wrong way.
He wanted Darren to understand that you can't just hand opportunities away as if they were sweets.
Not if they're yours.
Darren bowed again, calm and polite.
"Thank you, Mr. Flamel, for taking the time to tell me. I'm sorry for troubling you. Then… I'll leave first."
He turned as if to walk away.

Next few chapters will be little bit cringe , i mean allover it is an okay fanfic but the second year part is a bit much
Just like that sniper scene , and attack on malfoy . There will be a lot of completely unnecessary things
And there will be a lot of a things different from canon
