Chapter 269 — He Still Wants to Kill Someone!!

Ron helplessly paced at the side.

He checked the time, then said anxiously, "Oh, Harry, hurry! The Quidditch match will start soon!"

Harry hesitated.

He wasn't comfortable going alone.

But Darren smiled gently.

"Brother, you and Ron go to the pitch. Ron, you love Quidditch the most—of course you want to watch.

I'll go find Hermione and tell her what we heard.

I should've told her earlier. She must have thought of the same thing, so she ran to the library to confirm it.

And Ron, don't feel guilty. I don't really like Quidditch…"

[Ding, Father +100]

Darren was being truthful.

He felt Quidditch wasn't as enjoyable as normal football.

Even though, in his original world, men's football sometimes struggled to be watchable, women's football was excellent.

But still—football was better than Quidditch.

He would rather use this time to meet Hermione and maybe trigger a new mission.

But on his face, he kept a soft expression of pity.

"Or… Darren, I'll go instead…"

Ron said weakly, but Darren nudged him.

"Go. Hermione and I won't get lost. We'll be back soon."

Then Darren turned and ran off, leaving Harry and Ron standing there.

Ron sighed.

"Harry, I finally understand why you worry about Darren so much.

If I had a brother like him, I'd be scared every day that someone would bully him.

Even Ginny worries me—let alone Darren."

Harry shrugged.

He wished Darren would be slightly less kind; it would make life easier.

"Okay, let's hurry. If we win first place, Darren will be happy. He loves when I take first!"

Harry said, and they headed toward the stadium.

Meanwhile, Darren walked toward the library.

Accept?

[Accept]

Of course he accepted.

He needed more forged scenes as social interactions became more complicated.

Recently, his "Holy Father" image made it easier to gain Father Points, but his studies also demanded more.

He needed to conserve resources.

---

"Tear… tear him apart… Kill him… He commands me to kill…"

The Basilisk's voice echoed sharply.

Darren immediately ran after the sound.

His expression was anxious and full of panic—perfect for the coming scene.

"Quick… I must hurry… I must save them…"

He whispered until he realized there was no Father Value around.

Then he closed his mouth and sped up.

---

"Hermione! BE CAREFUL!"

Darren shouted as he turned the corner.

Hermione froze, shocked.

She opened her mouth to speak, but Darren had already thrown himself toward her, wand raised—

A shimmering water curtain burst forth.

Through the rippling water, she saw brass-colored eyes.

And through the corner of her vision—the massive Basilisk lunging directly toward Darren.

She panicked, trying to shout—

But her consciousness went black.

Hermione collapsed, petrified.

---

"Hermione…"

Darren stared at her in disbelief, slowly walking toward her stiff form.

A voice slithered into his ears:

"Are you my master?"

The Basilisk.

Darren didn't answer.

He only stared at Hermione, dazed.

"You killed her…"

His voice trembled, hollow and murderous.

"I didn't… She is only petrified… Master, someone is coming…

Master, when will you take me away? I don't want to follow him anymore…

Master, I'll go first… tear… kill him…"

The Basilisk slipped away.

Before disappearing, it flicked Darren's arm with its tail.

Hiss.

This beast was really cool.

Pity he couldn't admire it now.

Darren lifted his wand.

Someone was coming—time to perform.

---

"I'M GOING TO KILL YOU!"

He aimed at the Basilisk's fleeing shadow with dramatic fury.

"INCENDIO!"

"AVADA KEDAVRA!"

"CRUCIO!"

But no spell connected.

The Basilisk vanished into the darkness.

---

"POTTER—YOU KILLED!"

Ernie Macmillan's voice cracked in horror.

He looked at Darren in total panic.

Realizing what he blurted out, he clapped a hand over his mouth.

"I—I'm sorry! I didn't mean— I'll go! I won't tell anyone!"

But it was too late.

His shout had drawn half the corridor.

"Darren… who is it this time… HERMIONE!"

Professor McGonagall arrived, her eyes widening in shock.

Hermione.

This time, it was Hermione.

"Professor— it's him! Darren Potter!"

Ernie yelled, terrified.

"I heard him shouting those incantations—terrible ones!

He killed Hermione—he tried to kill me!

Last time Justin spoke badly about Potter, he was almost killed too!

Now Hermione must have offended him—

I heard him yell Avada Kedavra!

He must have wanted to kill her but petrified her instead because he saw me!"

Ernie's face was pale with fear.

In his mind, the attacker had to be Darren.

Who else?
