Chapter 643 – He Is a Relative!!
They looked at each other and laughed.
For a long moment.
Hermione said, "Well, anyway, Harry, you and Darren already know what classes you're going to take next year, and I still don't know anything!"
"It won't be long," Ron said.
"It's already been more than a month…"
Harry suddenly thought of something.
He hurriedly said, "Dumbledore said he would send the results today."
"Oh my God, am I going to fail? Why didn't you say that earlier?!"
She jumped up.
Then she shouted, "I'll go see if there are any owls! And Mrs. Weasley told you to hurry downstairs too!"
Harry and Ron looked at each other.
But when the two of them went down ten minutes later, Hermione still hadn't received her owl.
She was helping Mrs. Weasley clear the table, her eyes constantly glancing out the window.
"I'm sure I got my Defence Against the Dark Arts question wrong last semester…
And during the Astronomy practical, I was paying attention to Hagrid…
And then there's History of Magic… oh my God, I must have failed every subject!"
Harry suddenly felt his stomach churn.
He quickly asked, "What if I fail every class?"
"Then you discuss it with your Head of House and retake some courses," Hermione said.
"If the professors agree. I asked Professor McGonagall about it last semester."
Fleur said proudly from the side, "I think Darren must have full marks. His grades have never been a problem."
Her words were interrupted by screams.
Three owls appeared outside the window.
One of them was clutching an extremely thick envelope and flew crookedly, as if it might fall at any moment.
Mrs. Weasley quickly opened the window.
The three owls landed on the windowsill and dropped the letters in front of Harry and the others.
Harry received the thickest envelope.
He opened it quickly and saw that Darren's letter was inside as well. He let out a sigh of relief.
This was clearly Dumbledore's arrangement, helping Darren prepare things in advance.
However, Harry didn't open Darren's report card first.
He was completely confident about Darren.
What worried him was himself.
He hurriedly opened his own results.
Outstanding (O), Exceeds Expectations (E), Acceptable (A), Poor (P), Dreadful (D), Troll (T)
Harry James Potter – Results:
Astronomy – A
Care of Magical Creatures – E
Charms – E
Defence Against the Dark Arts – O
Divination – P
Herbology – E
History of Magic – D
Potions – E
Transfiguration – E
---
Harry read the results from start to finish several times.
He soon realised that only Divination and History of Magic were failures.
Divination was normal—he had always been making things up anyway.
As for History of Magic, he had only stayed for half the class before leaving, so it was natural that his grades were terrible.
What pleased him most was that Defence Against the Dark Arts had received an Outstanding.
The only thing that disappointed him slightly was Potions.
Although he had expected it for a long time, his Potions grade was still not Outstanding.
That meant he was not qualified to train as an Auror.
Snape only accepted students with Outstanding grades.
Aurors, after all, had to take advanced Potions.
But still—
This was already good enough.
Harry put his report card down and opened Darren's.
Darren James Flamel Potter – Results:
Astronomy – O
Care of Magical Creatures – O
Charms – O
Defence Against the Dark Arts – O
Divination – A
Herbology – O
History of Magic – O
Potions – O
Transfiguration – O
Sure enough, aside from Divination—which was merely an Acceptable—all of Darren's subjects were Outstanding.
Or rather… perfect.
As for Divination, Darren had once said that he did not plan to take it again anyway.
He thought he simply had no talent for it.
"Come on, let's exchange!"
Ron laughed as well.
He handed Harry his report card and reached for Darren's and Harry's.
But before he could even look at Darren's grades, Hermione snatched them away.
"So eager to see? You did well too, didn't you?"
Ron glanced sideways at Hermione's results.
…All right.
Except for Defence Against the Dark Arts being Exceeds Expectations, everything else was Outstanding.
"So what," Hermione said happily.
"I like Darren's results. Even though mine are excellent too, Darren's 'excellent' has more weight. I'll keep his for him!"
Harry almost said that he was Darren's family.
But when he saw Hermione's expression, he swallowed the words.
Harry did fairly well over the next few weeks.
Mrs. Weasley planned to wait until Darren woke up before holding a joint sixteenth birthday celebration for Darren and Harry.
A week before school started, Lupin brought good news.
Darren had finally woken up.
Harry and the others were overjoyed and immediately wanted to visit him at St. Mungo's.
Mrs. Weasley refused again.
"No. You can't go. The situation outside is getting more and more dangerous."
"Ollivander is missing. Karkaroff is dead. There are many others too."
"You all know how dangerous things are now. Wait two more days—Darren will come back directly from St. Mungo's."
"But… will You-Know-Who really ambush St. Mungo's?" Ron muttered.
"Disguised as a patient, waiting to catch us?"
His words made Mrs. Weasley furious.
Fortunately, the arrival of an owl delivering Harry's Quidditch Captain badge interrupted her scolding.
After that, Ron became extremely careful.
For several days, he barely spoke at all, afraid of angering Mrs. Weasley again.
Two days before school started—
Mr. Weasley finally brought Darren back.
Darren hugged everyone.
Then he smiled awkwardly.
"Oh, brother, I must have made you worry all summer… I didn't expect to be pulled in like that back then…"
[Ding, Father +100]
[Ding, Father +100]
[Ding, Father +100]
[Ding…]
"Don't say that," Harry said, wiping his tears.
"That wasn't something you could control. Anyway… I'm just glad you're back."
Harry had thought he would stay calm.
He had thought he would pat Darren on the shoulder and joke that he had scared everyone half to death.
But when he saw Darren's pale face—still showing signs of blood loss—his tears flowed uncontrollably.
He couldn't stop them.
Mrs. Weasley cried quietly as well.
It was obvious that Harry was not the only one who had been worried about Darren.
The calmest person among them turned out to be Hermione.
She said that she still had unfinished homework and went back to tidy things up.
In reality, she had finished everything days ago.
But her words reminded Darren of something.
Darren froze in horror.
"I—I didn't do my homework!"
In truth, he had barely done any.
He had only stayed in the space–time corridor for half a day, but more than a month had passed outside.
Then he had slept in St. Mungo's for weeks, completely unaware of anything.
"I'm not going to be expelled… am I?"
