Chapter 31 - Chapter 31 Everything is fake

The scene returns to Gwen.

A small Dwarf was laboriously pushing a cart, with two body bags on it gently swaying as the wheels rolled.

The wheels rubbed against the ground, emitting a faint "creak" that was amplified infinitely in the silent corridor.

The Dwarf appeared nonchalant on the surface, still pushing the cart unhurriedly, but in reality, Gwen, hidden beneath the Dwarf's disguise, had a forehead covered in sweat.

There was no other way; without her little watch and without magic, Gwen was just an ordinary 8-year-old girl.

Although she exercised regularly, she was still tired in the end.

With great effort, she finally pushed the cart to the door of the morgue. After taking a deep breath, she raised her hand and tried to turn the doorknob, but the door didn't budge.

After confirming the door was locked, Gwen felt a bit helpless.

Taking out a small notebook from her Pregnant and checking the number of pages with magic circles drawn on them, Gwen gritted her teeth and raised her hand to knock on the door.

A muffled knocking sound echoed in the empty corridor, and soon a voice came from inside the room.

"Who is it?" A slightly tired voice came from behind the door.

Immediately after, footsteps were heard, and the door slowly opened, a pungent smell of formaldehyde wafting out.

A forensic doctor in a white lab coat appeared at the doorway. He frowned deeply, his gaze puzzled as he scrutinized the Dwarf and the body bags on the cart.

"It's so late, and you are...?" The forensic doctor frowned and asked.

The Dwarf's face instantly broke into a fawning smile, which looked particularly eerie in the dim yellow light: "Mr. Forensic Doctor, I am here on orders to deliver bodies."

Upon hearing this, the forensic doctor's suspicion deepened. He looked the Dwarf up and down and said with a frown, "I haven't received any news about bodies that have just been processed? Where did you get these bodies?"

Gwen's heart tightened, but she still maintained the smile on her face, unhurriedly taking out the notebook Giovanni had given her from her Pregnant.

"Sir, this is an urgent case. The higher-ups specifically arranged for me to deliver it overnight. You see, this is a report for a post-mortem examination, and there is also an urgent case document."

The forensic doctor opposite looked at the notebook in Gwen's hand and was stunned.

From Gwen's perspective, the first page of the notebook suddenly burst into flames, then turned to ash.

From the perspective of the forensic doctor opposite, he had just finished reading a post-mortem report and urgent case documents.

The forensic doctor frowned deeply, took the notebook, and carefully flipped through it, occasionally looking up at the Dwarf, repeatedly confirming the details on the documents.

After repeatedly confirming that there were no problems, the forensic doctor nodded, with a hint of dissatisfaction in his tone: "Next time, call to notify! Don't bother people in the middle of the night. Go in!"

The Dwarf secretly breathed a sigh of relief, but still maintained a respectful demeanor: "Thank you, I've caused you trouble."

As he spoke, he pushed the cart and slowly walked into the morgue.

Gwen pushed the cart into the morgue, and the door behind her closed with a "clang," completely cutting off the faint light from outside.

The strong smell of formaldehyde wafted over, irritating her nasal passages.

Quickly scanning her surroundings, her gaze locked onto the archive books hanging on the wall.

She rushed over in a few strides and grabbed a book.

On the pages, information about bodies from past cases was densely recorded.

Gwen quickly flipped through it, and after familiarizing herself with the archive format, she used a pen nearby to rapidly write down the relevant information for Martha Wayne and Thomas Wayne, following the format of other archives.

After writing, Gwen turned and walked to the cart, lifting down the two mannequin models.

After placing these two mannequins in the morgue cabinet positions as previously written in the archive, she tore off a large number of papers from the notebook and began to cover the two mannequin models.

Seeing that the quantity seemed sufficient, Gwen put away the remaining paper and began to point at the two mannequin models, muttering, "This is the body of Thomas Wayne, and this is the body of Martha Wayne."

As soon as she finished speaking, the papers stuck to the mannequins glowed faintly, then quickly burned up.

Against the backdrop of these flames, the two mannequins gradually transformed.

Their originally stiff skin became flaccid and took on the color of lividity; their hollow eyes seemed to be covered with a layer of Death's gloom.

Their appearances also became identical to Thomas and Martha.

Even the manner of Death on the bodies was the same: a gunshot wound to the heart.

In a blink of an eye, the mannequins successfully disguised themselves as two bodies.

After pushing the two fake bodies in, Gwen looked around, making sure there was really no one else here besides herself, and then secretly let out a long sigh of relief, pushing the cart towards the door.

The metal door slowly opened, and Gwen successfully emerged from the relatively cold environment.

The on-duty forensic doctor she had just met was lie on the table, his body trembling slightly with his snores, completely unaware of Gwen's actions.

Gwen also didn't want to wake him up, so she quietly carried the cart and walked out of the room.

After walking a distance in the Gotham Police Department's long corridor and confirming that no one was around, Gwen disdainfully folded the cart and placed it by the roadside.

After confirming that placing it there would not affect anyone else, she crouched down and began to swiftly sneak towards the archives.

Taking advantage of her small stature and the fact that most of the Police were out at night, Gwen easily reached the archives door.

Gwen gently pushed open the door, and a smell of old paper wafted out.

Gwen had been here once before and knew the classification standards for the archive bags here.

Based on the archives she had forged, she quickly adapted to the light in the darkness, her gaze rapidly scanning rows of shelves, and soon locked onto the target shelf.

She quickly walked to the shelf and skillfully pulled out a file bag from behind.

This file bag, whether in material, color, or markings, was indistinguishable from the other file bags around it.

To be honest, Gwen was still a bit worried.

Worried that the style of the Gotham Police Department's archive bags had changed in these four years.

But luckily, it hadn't.

The archive bag she had meticulously forged based on her experience of sneaking into the archives four years ago looked perfectly natural here.

This archive contained, in addition to some on-site investigation reports Gwen wrote based on memory and prediction, a detailed autopsy report.

Although the report was unsigned, its content covered various characteristics of the body, examination procedures, and results, with meticulous attention to detail.

To prepare this report, Gwen spent a lot of time learning relevant knowledge.

While actually dissecting a body and writing a professional report was still impossible for her as an elementary school student, she was confident that with her exceptional observational and learning abilities, she could forge a report convincing enough to pass for real.

Gwen carefully re-examined the file bag, ensuring that she hadn't missed any items that could reveal her identity.

Then, she steadily placed the file bag back on the shelf and quickly slipped out of the archives.

Of course, whether it was the archive in the morgue or the one in the archives, all the details were concocted by Gwen through her "I Think So Power."

She also didn't know information such as event codes or serial numbers.

However, even though these things were all made up by her, Gwen wasn't afraid of being investigated at all.

After all, at the end of the day, these reports were chaotic and complex, perfectly fitting the state after the Court of Owls had caused trouble.

If she was lucky, maybe they would even think...hehe.
