Chapter 53 - Chapter 53 Gwen: I still have an uncle?

Looking at Alfred, who was calm and composed, the father's rage could no longer be suppressed.

His eyes were bloodshot, like a mad Beast, and he suddenly roared, charging forward.

He raised his right hand high, clenched his fist, and with a heart full of anger, he smashed it towards Alfred's face.

Alfred, seeing this, remained unhurried. Just as the father's fist was about to strike him, he slightly sidestepped, and at the same time, extended his left hand, grabbing the father's wrist and pulling him.

Immediately after, his right leg quickly inserted itself between the father's legs, his body slightly crouched, and using the father's forward momentum, he executed a perfect over-the-shoulder throw.

With a 'bang,' the father fell heavily to the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust.

He lay on the ground, groaning in pain, his face full of shock and unwillingness.

No kidding, the enemy count is one, and Gotham's one-on-one King buff has successfully loaded.

Almost at the same time, the door behind them was suddenly pushed open, and a group of burly bodyguards rushed out.

They moved quickly and were well-trained, instantly surrounding the father and his injured child.

Alfred adjusted his collar, bent slightly, and pulled out his phone from his pocket.

"Miss Gwen, it's all handled here," Alfred's voice was steady and calm, as if everything that had just happened was nothing more than a trivial matter.

Meanwhile, in the Wayne Group office, Gwen stroked Brucey's head and said with a smile, "I'm done here too."

...In the top-floor conference room of Wayne Tower, the atmosphere was somewhat strange.

Around the huge oval conference table, the directors sat upright, their eyes shifting between each other, looking at one another, but all tacitly choosing silence.

The conference room was extremely quiet, with only soft murmurs coming from the main seats.

In the main seats sat two little girls, only 8 years old, a sight that was out of place with the serious environment but inexplicably exuded an aura that no one dared to underestimate.

One of the little girls, with black hair and blue eyes, bore a striking resemblance to Mr. Thomas in her features, and was currently impatiently pushing away another hand placed on her head.

The other little girl, with orange-red hair and green eyes, resembling Mrs. Martha, was the instigator who had been messing with her sister's hair.

It must be said that although the black-haired, blue-eyed girl was relatively calm, compared to the orange-red-haired girl, a slight hint of panic could still be seen.

Finally, a shareholder could no longer bear the suffocating silence and spoke up to break the deadlock.

He bowed slightly, forcing a seemingly gentle smile onto his face, and said, "Gwen, and Brucey, my dears, Wayne Group will one day be yours. This place will always be your home, there is no doubt about that."

Gwen sat in the main seat, and upon hearing this, she didn't even lift her head. She merely stopped teasing Brucey and asked with a gentle smile, "Uncle William, what are you trying to say?"

The shareholder, called William, was slightly taken aback by Gwen's words, and the smile on his face instantly froze.

He had originally intended to dismiss the two sisters, who might be acting childish, with a few words, but he hadn't expected them to be clearly prepared.

However, he quickly forced himself to calm down, took a deep breath, adjusted his posture, and said, "Gwen, Brucey, you are still too young. This is a time when you should have a complete childhood and play happily. You really shouldn't be confined to this conference room filled with business disputes."

As he spoke, he tried to look at Gwen and Brucey with a meaningful gaze, as if he was genuinely concerned for their future.

Gwen's lips curved slightly into a meaningful smile. She looked up, her gaze slowly sweeping over everyone present, her eyes revealing a wisdom that belied her age.

"Of course, no problem," Gwen's voice was clear and melodious, echoing in the conference room, "Brucey and I will not interfere with the daily affairs of Wayne Group until we come of age. But the premise is..."

"Where is the person our father chose?"

The next CEO candidate, chosen by Gwen after whispering in Thomas Wayne's ear, was naturally Lucius Fox.

However, this time, when Gwen convened the board meeting as a director, she did not see the former Chief Technology Officer.

William's brows furrowed tightly, and several deep wrinkles appeared on his forehead.

"Are you referring to Mr. Lucius?"

Gwen nodded lightly: "Otherwise?"

At this moment, a female shareholder couldn't help but stand up.

She cleared her throat slightly and began, "Miss Gwen, Mr. Lucius is indeed excellent, there's no doubt about that. His talent in technical research has brought many breakthroughs to Wayne Group. However, he is, after all, only a researcher in the technical department. Wouldn't it be too risky to have such a research-focused individual serve as the chairman of Wayne Group and manage the entire group's operations?"

As she spoke, she quickly scanned the other directors present with her eyes.

However, these directors kept their eyes on their mouths and their hearts, each remaining silent.

The female shareholder was helpless.

They had coordinated their stories before coming, but once here, they sold her out.

Too much! It's too much!

Gwen raised an eyebrow at this, a subtle sharpness flashing in her eyes.

She looked at the female shareholder and retorted, "Do you have a better option?"

Her tone was still calm, but it carried an undeniable sense of pressure.

She's... she's just a child! How can she have such an aura?!

The female shareholder exchanged glances with the people around her, took a deep breath, and then said seriously, "I recommend Philip Kane as the new CEO!"

She then began to praise him, attempting to use professional jargon, such as "rich experience in the business field, extensive connections, successfully operated multiple large projects, and led teams to achieve excellent results in complex market environments."

Gwen listened, still wearing a faint smile, as if she completely dismissed the other party's words as nonsense.

However, when the name "Philip Kane" entered her ears, Gwen unconsciously raised an eyebrow.

She had heard that name before, but not from the Batman comics or animations she had watched in her previous life. Instead, she had met this Philip Kane at the Wayne Couple's funeral some time ago.

She had to admit that although she watched U.S. comics, she didn't watch many.

In the Batman series, besides Lucius and Alfred, she knew nothing about anyone else.

And if she remembered correctly, Philip Kane should be Martha Wayne's brother, which, in terms of kinship, made him her uncle.

If she hadn't recommended Lucius to Thomas Wayne, would this person have become the CEO of Wayne Group?

She only remembered the one from Nolan's Batman, the "Didn't you get the memo?" guy.
