Gwen—no, the Diamond War God—watched Talon's movements, a chilling glint flashing in her eyes.
"Trying to run? Not that easy!"
As a silicon-based lifeform, the Diamond War God could control the crystals on her body to transform into weapons like blades, or launch them from her hands like shurikens.
The Diamond War God suddenly raised both hands, aiming at Talon, who was leaping through the air.
After a series of transformations, her hands became two clusters of crystals.
"Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!"
A whooshing sound filled the air as crystals rained down, each one like a bullet tearing through the air, leaving faint green trails.
Talon heard the sound and instinctively wanted to look back, but the crystal clusters flew too fast.
Of course, the most important thing was that some of these crystal clusters were coming directly at him, while others were aimed at his current position.
He was currently on an external metal fire escape.
The staircase was rusty and had been in Gotham for quite some time.
When struck by the launched crystals, the crystals remained unharmed, but the staircase became precarious.
After taking a few hits from the crystals, Talon drew his blade and began to parry the attacks, not suffering any severe injuries.
But the problem was, he only parried the crystals aimed at himself; as for those aimed at the external staircase… While Talon was still parrying the crystals with his blade, he heard a crisp snap, and one of the metal supports of the external staircase broke.
His rusty mind hadn't even processed what that sound was when two more consecutive sounds rang out.
Immediately after, he felt the ground vanish beneath him, and he plummeted from the external staircase, crashing heavily onto the ground, kicking up a shower of gravel and dust.
The rising dust temporarily obscured the view, and the Diamond War God stopped firing, her hands, which had transformed into crystal clusters, reverted to their normal five-fingered state.
Talon struggled to get up from the ground, covered in dust, his uniform showing numerous tears, but his grip on the blade remained steady.
He silently watched the silicon-based lifeform radiating deterrence before him; through the owl-like eye mask, it was impossible to tell what he was thinking.
The Diamond War God tilted her head slightly, raised her crystal-formed eyebrows, and her voice, with the characteristic hum of crystals, asked, "What are you looking at? Want to fight?"
Talon didn't respond, merely tightened his grip on his long blade, then suddenly pushed off the ground, his figure shooting forward like an arrow released from a bowstring, his blade slicing through the air with a sharp whistle.
The Diamond War God did not flinch, a glint of battle intent flashing in her eyes, her hands rapidly reassembling crystals, instantly transforming into two gleaming crystal blades.
In a flash, the two "people's" blades clashed, metal and crystal striking together to produce dazzling sparks.
Gwen had to admit, Talon was Talon; anyone who could fight Batman with such intensity was definitely no ordinary being.
She saw the opponent's wrist, holding the blade, twisting flexibly, the long blade darting in and out like a nimble snake, each slash coming from a tricky angle.
Relying on his exquisite swordsmanship, he actually gained a slight advantage in the blade fight; out of ten exchanges, Talon's long blade managed to strike the Diamond War God three times, while the Diamond War God's crystal blades only just grazed the opponent twice.
But the problem lay there.
On the surface, looking at the number of strikes, Talon seemed to be winning big, but looking at the results, it was entirely different.
Although the Diamond War God's body was not made of celestial jade, it was harder than diamonds.
Unless your blade is made of lower-realm alloy—*cough, cough, cough*—sorry, got sidetracked.
In short, although Talon's long blade attacked slightly more often, when it struck the Diamond War God's body, it only left a few white marks.
In contrast, even if the Diamond War God merely grazed Talon, it could be described as a strike to the bone, not to mention that Gwen's combat awareness was not bad to begin with.
After all, Alfred was from MI6; by seniority, he would probably be on par with James Bond.
After a few rounds, Talon's already torn uniform was completely ripped open, faintly revealing the grayish-white skin beneath.
Dark, non-human blood seeped from the wounds, staining the damaged clothing black.
The gashes were extremely deep, some even visible to the bone, the stark white bone looking particularly gruesome against the blood.
Feeling Talon's long blade strike her crystal body repeatedly, yet failing to even scratch it, Gwen felt a sense of familiarity.
While striking the opponent with her dual crystal blades, Gwen even had time to let her mind wander.
After a brief recollection, she quickly remembered when she had seen this scene before.
Before transmigrating, Gwen had watched an anime called "Sword Art Online."
There was a scene in the anime where the male protagonist maxed out his healing ability, then stood still and let enemies attack him, but the damage they inflicted couldn't even keep up with his healing speed.
It had to be said, the current situation was quite similar to the one in the anime.
Because the Diamond War God's defense was too strong, the opponent couldn't inflict any actual damage.
The only difference might be that Gwen had to finish the fight quickly.
One thing better about the little watch than Ultraman was that the original watch gave you ten minutes of transformation time.
And as time passed, the Diamond War God's crystal blades became more and more proficient in her hands as she swung them.
Normally, she had only used this thing to cut mannequins or targets; this was her first time fighting a living being.
Once Gwen completely familiarized herself with the Diamond War God's body, her movements became faster and faster, and the power of her blades grew stronger and stronger.
Before long, Talon's body was covered in dense wounds from the crystal blades, bloody and mangled.
If he were a normal person, he would be close to death by now, let alone moving.
But Talon was not a normal person.
If Gwen remembered correctly, these Talons lived a life that Mr. Ying Zheng would envy.
Normally, they'd consume inferior Dionysus Factor and amber gold to strengthen their bodies, and if they died, they'd soak in Lazarus Pit water to invigorate their circulation.
So, even though Talon was severely injured at this point, his body was completely unaffected.
When he confirmed he was powerless to resist, his mode of action instantly changed, like a pre-programmed AI, he chose to flee without hesitation.
After a quick shift, he dropped the long blade in his hand and, dragging his broken body, turned to sprint in the opposite direction.
How could the Diamond War God let him have his way?
In a flash of thought, her hands once again transformed into crystal clusters.
In an instant, countless crystals continuously sprayed out like a torrential downpour.
The fleeing Talon had no time to react; sharp crystals pierced his limbs and torso, pinning him firmly to a large dumpster in the corner.
Talon found himself pinned by something and struggled desperately to break free, but the crystals embedded in the dumpster and his flesh remained unmoving; each twist tore his wounds wider, and blood dripped from the crystal edges onto the ground.
The Diamond War God slowly approached, her crystal body reflecting a cold, proud light under the streetlamp.
She tilted her head slightly, looking at his frost-covered hand, which happened to be pinned to the dumpster, and spoke with a teasing tone, "Oh my God, what happened to you?"
