Chapter 49 - Chapter 49: Another One That’s Not Exactly Pure-Hearted...

With one swift move, Ryuya had already captured the Spirit King's core in his hand.

It looked like a small, silver sphere—soft, pliant, and surprisingly pleasant to the touch.

The sensation… felt oddly familiar.

Hmm… Ryuya's mind flashed back to those nights when he fell asleep with Rias in his arms—

Yeah, when his hand "accidentally" rested on her chest, it felt exactly like this.

…Okay, maybe that thought was a bit wicked.

Zatouji hurried over and, after communicating briefly with the spirit through magic, laughed heartily.

"You're a quick one, boy. You've already passed its test. You can let it go now."

Hearing that, Ryuya released the little thing.

The Spirit King floated back into the air, returning to its original round, silver form. Then, with a soft pop, a pair of tiny metallic wings sprouted from its sides, flapping adorably as it hovered.

Around them, all the surrounding elemental spirits—whether humanoid or beast-like—immediately knelt to the ground in reverence.

Rias and the others ran over, marveling at the sight before them.

"As expected of a Spirit King… its authority is incredible," Rias said in awe.

"Of course!" Zatouji boomed proudly. "Even among familiars, seeing a Spirit King is something that might not happen once in a thousand years! And a metal-type Spirit King at that—one of the most powerful attributes of all! You've got some amazing luck, kid!"

He laughed heartily and clapped Ryuya on the shoulder.

"Thanks for the help, Mr. Zatouji," Ryuya said with a smile. If not for this expert's assistance, he never would've managed to win the Spirit King's approval so easily.

"Ara ara~ such a rare familiar shouldn't be kept waiting," Akeno reminded him teasingly. "Go on and form the contract already. And once you're done, you'll have to show us what it can do~."

"Got it."

Ryuya already had the contract spell memorized. Channeling his magic, he drew the magic circle in the air. The Spirit King immediately fluttered over and settled at its center.

He began chanting the incantation, and as the circle glowed brightly, the contract was complete.

But the moment it was sealed, Ryuya's expression sharpened.

He could feel his magical energy surging out of him at an alarming rate, being absorbed directly into the Spirit King.

"The Spirit King is condensing into its true form," Zatouji warned. "Until it finishes taking shape, you must keep your magic flowing—don't interrupt it!"

…There's that kind of step too?

Ryuya quickly sat down cross-legged, meditating to restore his magic while continuously feeding power into the Spirit King.

Seeing this, Rias suggested that they return to the Occult Research Club's activity room—it was quiet enough there.

So, after bidding Zatouji farewell, they used a teleportation circle to return to the human world. The girls all stayed by Ryuya's side, watching over him as his familiar's transformation continued.

About half an hour passed. Just as Ryuya's magic reserves were nearly depleted, the silver Spirit King finally began to move.

Its tiny wings fluttered weakly as it wobbled into the air—almost like it was dizzy—before it spun rapidly in place.

Then, its spherical body began to shift, transforming into the shape of a square, silver metallic seal, while its small silver wings still flapped on either side.

The result looked… strangely adorable, and kind of weird.

"It turned into a seal?"

Everyone leaned in curiously to get a better look.

Ryuya stood up just as the seal-shaped Spirit King fluttered around him in circles, its wings beating cheerfully—it seemed absolutely delighted.

"Ryuya, what kind of power does it have?" Rias asked with a playful smile.

Ryuya himself was just as curious. He smiled at the little familiar. "Alright, let's see what you can do."

The seal-like Spirit King gave a cheerful spin, and a wave of silver ripples spread out from its body—

A familiar sensation followed immediately.

The anti-magic field appeared once again.

As expected—it really had an anti-magic effect!

"My magic power's being suppressed by nearly sixty percent… what an incredible ability," Akeno murmured in amazement.

The others were just as thrilled. Once this familiar grew stronger, the effect would only become more powerful—it was downright broken!

"There's more," Ryuya said knowingly. He could tell this little guy wasn't done showing off yet.

Sure enough, under the seal's control, countless metallic blades materialized from thin air and shot toward Rias and the others.

"Oh?"

Rias showed no fear; she instantly summoned her crimson flames to intercept the attack, while Akeno raised her hand and unleashed a golden bolt of lightning.

The barrage of flying blades was obliterated on the spot.

"Not bad power for a basic strike," Rias commented with an amused smile.

But their counterattack seemed to offend the seal-shaped familiar.

Its tiny wings flapped furiously, and it suddenly transformed into a streak of silver light—darting straight toward the four girls.

Smack! Smack! Smack! Smack!

In an instant, it stamped each of them on the thigh with a deep violet-red seal mark.

Ryuya caught the pattern clearly— the mark was the Japanese character "正" (Meaning "correct" or "justice")…

…What the hell?

Before anyone could react, the girls' magical power was suddenly bound tight, completely sealed.

Then, with a loud rip—!

their clothing exploded into a flutter of fragments, dissolving back into pure magical particles that faded into the air.

"..."

"...???"

Ryuya stood frozen, speechless, staring at the glowing violet "正" symbols shining on each of the girls' thighs.

What… the hell is this?

"Kyaa!!"

Asia's scream broke the silence. She crouched down, covering herself, her face crimson from embarrassment.

"Ara ara…" Akeno's voice followed—half surprised, half amused.

"This feels… familiar," muttered Koneko Toujou, crossing her arms over her chest, her golden eyes flatly meeting Ryuya's.

Rias sighed, one hand on her hip, looking at Ryuya helplessly.

"So, what exactly is this ability supposed to be?"

"..."

Ryuya waved the little familiar over, and it obediently fluttered back, wings buzzing like a smug little bee. It hovered before him proudly, clearly pleased with itself.

Since he could sense its thoughts, Ryuya understood it was waiting for praise. He could only sigh and explain, half laughing, half exasperated:

"This is its signature technique. Right now, it can seal the target's magic for up to ten hours. If it targets up to ten people at once, the duration drops to about an hour. And if the opponent's particularly strong, the time shortens accordingly."

"And our clothes?" Rias muttered in disbelief. "Seriously, what kind of twisted sense of humor does this little thing have?"

"..."

Ryuya didn't even know how to answer—because she was absolutely right.

This really was the familiar's own perverted quirk.

Honestly, the proof was right there—the glowing "正" marks still stamped across those fair, slender thighs…

Ryuya couldn't help but press a hand to his forehead and let out a long sigh.

Great. Turns out even my familiar isn't a proper one…
