The rain had finally stopped. The gray clouds were slowly scattering across the sky, and the scent of damp soil and wet leaves filled the air. GoGo and Yuri walked wearily back toward their shelter.
When GoGo saw that the shelter he had built was almost destroyed, his face fell. Despite his weakened state, he wanted to go and fix it, but Yuri quickly grabbed his arm.
Yuri: "Where do you think you're going? Can't you see your condition? Can you please just stop for once?"
GoGo: "What if it rains again…"
Yuri: "It already collapsed under the rain. How about this — let's rest for now, and you can rebuild it in the morning, okay?"
GoGo took a deep breath.
GoGo: "You're right… I guess."
Walking behind him, Yuri smirked slightly and mimicked his tone.
Yuri (mockingly): "You're right, I gues... of course I'm right."
GoGo suddenly turned around.
GoGo: "Did you say something?"
Yuri kept smiling and shrugged.
Yuri: "Me? Nooo, you must've misheard. Come sit here. You're way more soaked than me. I'll go get some dry wood."
GoGo raised his eyebrows in disbelief.
GoGo: "Dry wood? Are you okay? It poured like crazy — what dry wood?"
With a confident smirk and a touch of pride, Yuri replied:
Yuri: "You're underestimating my intelligence, GoGo. I stored some dry wood for days like this."
GoGo clapped mockingly, smiling, but suddenly sneezed.
GoGo: "Bravo. You actually surprised me for once. Well done."
This time, Yuri mimicked his tone again, silently mouthing his words.
GoGo narrowed his eyes.
GoGo: "I swear you just said something, but I didn't catch it."
Yuri quickly turned away.
Yuri: "Nope, didn't say anything. Just trying to remember where I put the wood. Hehe... You sit, I'll be right back."
Yuri walked off to get the dry branches. As GoGo waited, he sneezed several times in a row. His weakness was growing.
On her way back, Yuri saw him stumble. Her steps quickened. Just as GoGo was about to collapse, she dropped the wood and caught him.
Yuri (panicked): "What happened to you?!"
GoGo's body was ice-cold. His teeth chattered, but his forehead burned like fire. Yuri's heart pounded as she gently laid him on the wooden planks and desperately tried to light the fire. After several tense minutes, the sparks finally caught, and warm orange flames began to rise.
But GoGo's condition worsened. His breathing grew shallow, his shivering intense. In a rush, Yuri pulled out some herbs she had collected earlier, boiled them, and gave him the drink, not even waiting for it to cool.
GoGo's voice came out barely as a whisper:
GoGo: "I'm so cold... I'm so sleepy..."
Yuri's chest tightened. "I won't let you die. Damn it… but what else can I even do for you on this island…" she thought desperately.
GoGo lay trembling, his eyes half-closed. Yuri froze, uncertain what to do. Then a memory flashed — her mother hugging her tightly when she was sick, and how that warmth always made her pain fade away. Without another thought, she lay beside GoGo and wrapped her arms around him.
GoGo's eyes widened in surprise.
GoGo: "You… you…"
Yuri held him tighter.
Yuri: "I know. You'll probably yell at me when you're better. But right now, this is all I can do. Just relax and sleep. Close your eyes."
GoGo obeyed softly, closing his eyes. His breathing slowly steadied. Yuri didn't loosen her embrace. Throughout the night, under the faint glow of the fire and the silence after the rain, they stayed like that — unmoving, together.
