Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: A long night

Diamond stood in front of an extravagant building filled with people. The loud buzzing of music was enough to deafen someone.

She was so lost in her gaze that she didn't notice Tanya talking to her. Though she had missed most of what Tanya had said when she was lost in her thoughts, she just nodded.

"Shall we?" Tanya said, beckoning to her.

She nodded and followed Tanya into the club. She kept avoiding bumping into people and trying not to lose track of Tanya in the crowd. They walked for a while until they came to a corner of the room that was filled with couches and sofas.

She sat on one of the couches while Tanya went to order drinks.

Her eyes wandered around the room. She couldn't help but feel alert.

There were so many people dancing, drinking, and talking. She couldn't help but notice the dim disco light which gave the room a chill, moody feeling. She had never been to a place like this.

Her gaze fell on Tanya, who was now done ordering drinks for them and approaching the sofa.

She made room for Tanya as Tanya handed her the glass of wine.

She took a sip of the wine. "What an interesting taste. I like it," she said and was about to take another sip when she heard a voice.

"May I have this dance?"

She turned toward the direction of the voice.

It was a young man in his mid-twenties.

"Uh," she swallowed, caught in the moment.

She glanced at the man's outstretched hand before glancing at Tanya.

Tanya gave her a reassuring smile, and she nervously placed her hand in the man's hand. He briefly led her to the dance floor.

They were surrounded by lots of people who were busy dancing with their partners.

She danced by herself, trying to avoid the awkward moment when the man finally broke the silence.

"You are such a beautiful young lady."

She cursed inwardly. "Well, thank you."

"What is your name?" the young man continued.

"Diamond Rodriguez, and you?"

"Stanley Henshaw," he replied.

She could guess that he was a very pompous person, as he was now talking about himself and how many properties he had acquired.

Not wanting to hear all of that, she politely excused herself and went to look for Tanya.

She quickly remembered the sofa where they had sat and navigated herself toward the corner filled with sofas.

She stood puzzled when she couldn't find Tanya there.

Her eyes darted around the room in search of Tanya. She then decided to go look for her, and with that, she ventured out in search of her friend.

She moved quickly, all while avoiding bumping into people. She wondered how people could come here to spend their leisure time.

She preferred reading, cooking, and engaging in indoor activities when she was free, but alas, she came to the conclusion that not everyone was like her, and perhaps she was just some introvert freak.

A smile spread across her face when she caught sight of Tanya's thick dark hair and her black gown.

"Tanya," she called out, placing her hand on her shoulder. Her face quickly turned to one of horror when she realized that wasn't Tanya.

"I'm... I'm so sorry," she stammered. "I thought you were someone else." She apologized and left.

She breathed a sigh of relief once she was away from the scene she had caused. She felt embarrassed and awkward, and most of all, she was angry at herself for concluding too soon.

She now walked aimlessly, not knowing where to go or what to do.

The scene of how she embarrassed herself replayed in her head so much that she didn't realize when she ran into someone.

"Hey," she said, looking up only to meet one of the world's most handsome men. His eyes were like two pretty blue gems, his skin so fair and unblemished, and his dark hair was nicely combed. Her gaze moved further to his neck and then his ear — he wore a stud earring — before going down to his chest. He had left some buttons loose, revealing half of his nicely toned chest. His once white shirt was now covered with wine.

"Oh no!" she said, covering her mouth when she realized that she had spilled his drink on him.

"I'm... I'm so sorry," she stammered, looking terrified, only to be more terrified at the sight of his face.

"Are you out of your mind? Can't you see?" he said, his face red with anger.

She felt her blood boil with anger.

"Hey, it was a mistake and I already apologized," she said.

"I don't have your time. You must be one of those petty attention seekers."

"Excuse me? Who the hell do you think you are?" she snapped. "I do not know who you are and neither do I care. You are just an ill-mannered, self-glorified monkey."

And with that, she stormed off.

She could finally relax once she was away from yet another scene she had caused.

This could be her worst day, she wondered while thinking of other worst things that could possibly happen.

She walked exhaustedly until she found a counter where she ordered a few glasses of champagne, crashed on a sofa nearby, and began to gulp them down until she became tipsy.

Everything suddenly became blurry, but she could recognize a face she knew very well.

"Tanya," she said in her drunken state. "I have been looking for you everywhere. Where have you been? You made me worried sick."

"Oh, Diamond, we need to get you home," Tanya said while pulling her up.

"Gosh, you weigh a lot," Tanya exclaimed in a strained tone as she leaned onto her for support.

Tanya helped her out of the club and into a cab. "I guess this is the price I have to pay for forcing you here," she said to her, who was now screaming words she couldn't understand at the top of her voice.

Tanya breathed a sigh of frustration when she realized she had to carry her upstairs and to her room. She gently got them out of the cab. Struggling now and then, she carried her into their apartment and to her room.

Tanya let out a sigh of relief as she entered her own room and collapsed on her bed, knowing full well that she could finally rest, and in no distant time she dozed off.
