Chapter 11 - CHAPTER ELEVEN: VANISHING SHADOWS

TYLER'S POV

The hunters moved like predators closing in. Faster. Deadlier. Their eyes burned with hunger as they aimed for Emily.

"Emily!" I growled, claws extended, my wolf bristling with tension.

The air around us vibrated—Emily's pendant flaring brighter than ever. Wolves growled softly, circling around her, heads bowed in respect, tails stiff with anticipation.

Before the hunters could touch her, the world shimmered. The silver light pulsing from Emily and the wolves wrapped around us like a tide.

And then… we were gone.

The hunters lunged at empty air. Their curses echoed into nothingness.

When I opened my eyes, we were standing in a small, cluttered room filled with the smell of herbs and incense. Wolves were still at Emily's sides, fanning out protectively, eyes glowing faintly. They were hers. Not anyone else's.

Emily stumbled slightly, disbelief on her face. "W-where… are we?"

I glanced around, keeping one hand lightly on her shoulder. "Your grandmother's house," I muttered.

Emily froze. "My grandma? she's just a sweet old lady. She can't—"

I shook my head slightly. "Not everything you see is what it seems. She has powers. Strong ones."

Before I could say more, a figure stirred from a nearby chair. Emily's grandmother's eyes opened, glazed, trembling. She had clearly overexerted herself.

"Grandma…" Emily rushed forward. "What—what happened?"

"im guessing she brought us here," I explained quietly. "To keep you safe. But it took everything she had."

Emily's eyes went wide. "She… can do magic?". I nodded.

The grandmother coughed weakly, mumbling something under her breath, hands trembling. The spell had worked—but at a cost.

Emily knelt beside her. "Grandma… you need to rest!"

I stepped back, keeping my eyes on the forest outside the window. Somewhere out there, the hunters were regrouping. They wouldn't give up. Not now, not ever.

And now we had a new battlefield—one that Emily didn't yet understand.

But one thing was clear: the wolves, the bond, and her power… she wasn't alone.

And the hunters… they were about to learn that the prey they chased had already vanished—and had allies they couldn't begin to imagine.
