Chapter 58 - 36) Ōkuninushi no Kyōmei, Uzume no Kakuri

The Night the Shinobi World Froze

Everyone around you felt it.

The pressure.

The distortion of air.

The monstrous chakra that bent reality around itself.

Obito's aura—now fused with the Ten-Tails—was something no shinobi alive had ever felt before. Even veteran monsters like Onoki, A, Mei, and Killer B froze for a moment, instinctively realizing:

This was no longer a man. This was annihilation wearing a human shape.

You, however, didn't freeze.

You simply stepped forward.

Not with courage.

Not with loyalty.

Not with fearlessness.

But with clarity.

---

Obito—freshly reborn as the first Ten-Tails Jinchūriki of this timeline—looked at you with faint curiosity.

He had just awakened overwhelming power, and like any man who suddenly stands above gods, he had the urge to test that power on the insects around him.

But you…

You weren't here to fight.

You lifted your eyes, the Mangekyō spinning slowly like a quiet storm.

"My Mangekyō's first ability…

Ōkuninushi no Kyōmei."

Your voice was calm, almost bored.

"Amplification. Of jutsu, of energy, of attacks. With chakra—or life force. Mine or others."

A ripple passed through the ground as the Ten-Tails' chakra brushed against your domain.

"And my second… Uzume no Kakuri."

The air formed a faint distortion around you.

"A domain of concealment. Anything inside becomes invisible, undetectable, untouchable.

Not even time-space ninjutsu can lock onto it."

Obito frowned slightly.

Why reveal your abilities so openly?

Why stand before a god without resistance?

And, more importantly…

When the hell had Akira Uchiha awakened the Mangekyō?

He had known your name since the beginning—Konoha's prodigy, the genius rumored to rival even the Sannin at a young age.

But the ability you described…

This was not a child's power.

---

Obito's voice deepens

"Akira Uchiha…

Konoha's strongest of this generation…

the anomaly even the Great Nations whisper about…"

He smirked faintly.

"…why are you divulging your Mangekyō abilities to me?"

You didn't answer with words.

You answered by pulling him into an illusion.

Not a painful one.

Not a torture.

A truth.

Obito allowed it.

He was curious.

He believed no one alive could harm him now, so he let the illusion unfold.

---

You showed him everything

The illusion began with the birth of Hagoromo and Hamura.

Then the fall of Kaguya.

The birth of chakra.

The war of Asura and Indra.

Hashirama and Madara.

Black Zetsu's manipulation.

Madara's fall into despair.

Then Obito's own life.

Rin dying in his arms.

The cave.

Madara's lies.

His descent.

The truth of the Infinite Tsukuyomi.

The betrayal of Black Zetsu.

Kaguya's revival.

Obito's death.

Everything.

When the illusion faded, Obito stood still as a stone pillar.

On the outside, calm.

Inside, a riot of shock, rage, grief, hatred, and horror.

After a long silence, his voice finally came out.

"…Why show me this?

And why should I believe it?"

You didn't claim truth.

Instead, you pointed to two things.

"Obito Uchiha, two points.

1. Infinite Tsukuyomi does not work on souls.

If you want Rin to be happy, you need to let me cast my 1) Ōkuninushi no Kyōmei and 2) Uzume no Kakuri jutsu with you."

2.

"Even if you do cast Infinite Tsukuyomi alone...

Hagoromo will interfere.

He will awaken this generation's Asura and Indra.

Even if you beat them…

Black Zetsu will betray you.

Kaguya will devour you."

Your voice remained level.

"So you only have one choice.

Take my hand.

With my amplification even Hagoromo and other souls will be caught in the Illusion."

---

Obito stared at you for several minutes.

Then he asked, voice low:

"…Your first ability is amplification.

But what of Uzume no Kakuri?

Why hide yourself from the world?"

You breathed in.

Then said quietly:

"Because, Obito…

Kaguya was not alone."

His eyes narrowed.

You continued:

"There are other Ōtsutsuki in this universe.

And Uzume no Kakuri hides me, you and the Ninja world from them.

A century from now, humans may perish, but animals and nature will remain."

Obito processed this.

And nodded and asked the next question.

"…Akira Uchiha

If you plan to cast a global illusion…

doesn't that make you a genocidal monster?

Killing an entire species?"

You paused.

Then answered honestly.

"I wondered that too.

Why Madara believed in a dream."

You closed your eyes.

"But then I remembered his life.

Born into endless war.

His brothers and relatives died one by one.

He trusted Hashirama and the dream of his but,

Even after the village was founded, peace was temporary."

Your voice softened.

"Madara realized something:

Reality has no peace.

But illusion can create peace."

You looked at him.

"If you asked an orphan child whether they would choose an illusion where their parents exist…

they would say yes.

If you asked a widow if she wished to live in an illusion with her husband…

she would say yes."

A sad smile.

"I'm not a god, Obito.

I can't save everyone.

I can't make conflicts vanish.

I can't erase suffering.

So if illusion gives people what reality never can…

Why stop them?"

The night was silent.

Completely still.

---

Obito asked his last question

"…How much chakra and life force would this take?

To amplify Infinite Tsukuyomi…

and to hide us from the Ōtsutsuki with Uzume no Kakuri?"

You looked straight into his one Rinnegan.

And said calmly:

"Enough chakra to kill both of us."

You shrugged.

"But maybe…

maybe we'll also be caught up with the illusion after physical death."

Obito stared.

Images rushed through his mind—Rin smiling, dying, smiling again, dying again, smiling again…

And finally…

He understood.

A crooked, bitter smile appeared on his lips.

---

"…Alright, Akira."

He extended his hand.

A shinobi who had become a god…

now placing his fate in the hands of a boy who chose illusion over reality.

"Let's use both techniques."
