Chapter 3 - Warm feeling

- Strange, it sort of feels like I'm… floating?

The lower half of my body swayed in a light current, anchored to my upper half laying stomach side down on a riverside rock. Slightly cold air wraps around me, and, although my eyes are closed, all I can see is white. It's quiet, like, eerily quiet, but feels surprisingly... warm, it sorta feels like...

My hand reached to my temple, feeling for some kind of evidence (hopefully something I could use in court) and felt… nothing?

-did I imagine it?

"Nah, you got beat pretty bad, buddy!" Unto me, a voice said, "But don't worry! You're not actually dead, it's just sort of a prank I like to pull sometimes!"

"Oh… okay," I snuggled my head against the rock, which served as a surprisingly great pillow, it's hard yet soft, slightly warm but not too warm, had great-

-Wait what?!

A flash blinded my eyes as I tried to open them

"Ah, wait! Don't open your eyes!" A hand smacked my face,

"What the hell dude!" He made a wincing sound "What the hell are you doing!"

"Jeez dude, relax with the cursing!" His hand is huge, and try as I may, getting it off was a herculean task. I pushed and pulled with all my might, and when pushing didn't work, I began kicking and splashing around. I managed to roll over to my back, but I couldn't ditch his hands.

"GET OFF M- muhn mmm!" Another hand slammed over my mouth

"Listen! You can't see, I'll get in huge trouble! Just listen to what I have to say!" I bared my teeth, "quit moving or you're gonna fa- OW! WHAT THE FU-"

A blinding white light cut through the darkness, "-DGE… WHY DID YOU BITE ME!" The air suddenly grew thin.

A sea of golden stained white, fluffy, clouds spanned for infinite miles in a circle around me. The horizon was marked by a line of gold that quickly turned sky-blue as it ascended. Right above my head, suspended in the apex of its journey, the sun shined impossibly bright on us.

Although it was bright and warm, I couldn't feel the sun burning me at all. Mist flowing from the clouds caught the light and created thousands of mini rainbows around us.

"It's... beautiful."

What I had thought was a river was a cloud, what I had thought was a current was the wind, and what had I thought was a rock was…

"GROSS!!" I pushed off his naked legs and dropped down the sea of clouds.

Memories flew past me, suddenly one smacked me in the forehead.

-

"Twinkle twinkle litle star," the gentle voice of a piano filled the room, though the empty percussion of the keys when she hit the notes was always my favorite part. The old, familiar scent of dust hit my nostrils, the smell of… Wait… Where am I?

"How I wonder what you are," I turned to see the girl sitting next to me, she's about my age, maybe a little younger. She wears her blonde hair in an elegant bun on the back of her head, something that looks like it took a full staff hours to braid. She sits with sort of a… warm yet commanding air about her, like a queen, and for some reason, when I see her my chest gets all warm.

The feeling of the music chokes out any questions I have, and I find myself staring at her. The sound of the last key faded and I was brought back, she turned to me and me and scolded,

"Pay attention!" Her words were soft, but impossible to ignore, "You have to sing the next part, I can't!"

"Why not? I like it when you sing! Your voice is really pretty!"

"But you said you wanted to learn," she crossed her arms, "you know how I feel about liars, you're not lying to me, are you? If you are, I may never play for you aga-" What!? No way! But I just got to hear it for the first time!

"Fine, I'll sing the song, but only under one condition," you have to play for me again sometime- "you must help me kill daddy."
