Chapter 128 - Chapter 127. Fight!

Chapter 127. Fight!

Stormterror—Dvalin.

Five hundred years ago, the hero who fought the poisonous dragon Durin to protect Mondstadt now appeared once more.

As he looked at Dvalin before him, Venti's eyes were filled with nostalgia. It had been far too long since he last saw his old friend. Five centuries earlier, when Venti and the other gods descended upon Khaenri'ah, he had been unable to watch over Mondstadt. All he could do was entrust his will and blessings to Dvalin, sending him to confront Durin in his stead.

To protect Mondstadt, Dvalin fought Durin to the death—and emerged victorious. He tore through Durin's throat, slaying him atop Dragonspine. Yet in doing so, he was cursed by Durin's poisonous blood, condemned to five hundred years of unending torment.

As for why Dvalin had reappeared now, Venti already knew the answer through the Wind. And so, he did everything he could to soothe him. If it were possible, Venti truly did not wish to fight.

"Barbatos…" Dvalin spoke, Venti's reflection mirrored within his eyes. His voice was low as he continued, "It is already too late. If you truly cared for me…you should have returned long ago."

"You came back for those mortals, didn't you?" Dvalin said coldly. "They told me everything. You allied yourself with the Raiden Shogun's Retainer—to come here and kill me."

Venti froze.

He had never harbored such an intention. Asking Futsu Mitama to come had been meant to prevent interference from the Abyss Order—and to restrain Dvalin, should he lose control.

Kill Dvalin? What god would ever consider killing their own retainer?

"What?!" Venti exclaimed.

"You've misunderstood! The Anemo Archon has no such intention!"

"That's impossible."

Kuki Shinobu and Albedo spoke almost at the same time, trying to explain.

But Futsu Mitama frowned slightly. He had believed that approaching Dvalin with goodwill this time would avert any complications. After all, the Dragon Crisis had only just begun. And although he had been undergoing Raiden Ei's special training over the past few days, he had still made time to investigate the outskirts of Mondstadt.

He had not encountered Lumine.

Which meant that, logically speaking, Dvalin should not yet have been deeply misled by the Abyss Order.

Yet Dvalin's words made Futsu Mitama realize something. While Venti and the others were acting, the Abyss Order had not been idle.

'Are their methods really this subtle?' Futsu Mitama pondered.

He still had not drawn his weapon. Dvalin had not attacked them—or anyone else. If possible, Futsu Mitama still did not want to fight Dvalin. His size alone made the prospect terrifying. If a battle truly broke out—

He even found himself wondering whether he should go all out from the very start.

Though unwilling to fight, a faint excitement stirred within him. After all, Dvalin was a god's retainer. Such a battle was not something one could easily experience.

He could not fight the sly fox of Inazuma. Azhdaha in Liyue was untouchable.

Now, here in Mondstadt, judging by Dvalin's current state, there was a seventy percent chance that combat would erupt.

"Nothing is impossible. I foresaw your awakening long ago."

Dvalin gazed at Venti with disappointment, his voice heavy with anger.

"And that so-called potion of yours—Is it meant to kill me?" he roared. "Answer me, Barbatos!!!"

Faced with Dvalin's furious roar, Venti was about to speak—

But in that instant, flames, lightning, and ice shards surged toward him.

"Whoosh—!!"

Futsu Mitama moved. He had no choice. He blocked the attack for Venti, then lifted his gaze to the three figures that had appeared beside Dvalin.

Three Abyss Mages.

"Indeed." Futsu Mitama's eyes were calm. He was not surprised. "So it was the Abyss Order after all."

Albedo stared at the three Abyss Mages and drew the sword at his waist. Kuki Shinobu also raised her talismans, her expression grave.

The Abyss Order's involvement was something everyone present had already suspected. Their recent activity in Mondstadt had been obvious. Monsters were growing increasingly violent.

If it wasn't the Fatui, then only the Abyss Order fit.

And when one connected their attempt to capture a Primo Geovishap in Liyue with their manipulation of Dvalin here—

Their intent became clear.

"Behind this?" an Ice Abyss Mage laughed strangely. "No. We merely followed the will of the dragon himself."

"This is vengeance," the Pyro Abyss Mage said, drifting around Dvalin with a seductive tone. "Five hundred years ago, he swallowed Durin's poisonous blood to protect Mondstadt."

"He was hailed as a hero," the Electro Abyss Mage continued. "But what did he gain?"

"Oblivion."

"He was forgotten by Mondstadt's people—while he endured unspeakable agony alone."

"When he returned, there was no gratitude. Only fear. They branded him Stormterror. An enemy."

"This," the Abyss Mage concluded softly, "is the reward Mondstadt gave him."

As their words echoed, Dvalin's previously restrained aura grew turbulent. His eyes slowly turned crimson.

"No—! That's not true!" Venti tried to protest.

Albedo remained silent. Because it wasn't entirely false. Freedom had brought prosperity to Mondstadt—but it had also bred complacency.

Most citizens knew only of the Knights' Grand Master and Acting Grand Master.

Few remembered the Four Winds.

Fewer still remembered Dvalin.

Ironically, the surrounding nation—still honored Stormterror's deeds.

Yet Mondstadt itself had forgotten its guardian.

"No more explanations!!!" Dvalin roared, crimson eyes fixed on Venti. "I know what you intend to do!!"

"They are right!! I heard it clearly!! Stormterror! Enemy!!"

"If that is what they desire—then I shall grant their wish!"

"Farewell, Barbatos!!!"

Dvalin turned to leave.

Centuries of torment, Abyssal manipulation, and Venti's arrival with others had pushed him beyond reason.

Yet even now, he did not attack. He chose only to depart.

"Hahahahaha."

"Hahahahaha."

"Hahahahaha."

The Abyss Mages laughed in unison. Their plan had succeeded. But at that moment—

Futsu Mitama finally spoke.

"Even if you resent Barbatos," he said, producing Albedo's antidote, "you should still drink this. This antidote took over three days to develop, specifically to counter Durin's poison. You're not going to drink it?"

Before the Abyss Mages could react, Futsu Mitama vanished. In four days of relentless training, he had learned many techniques from Raiden Ei. Even without Chakra Desiderata, he could now teleport freely—within ten meters.

Any farther, and the risk increased.

Appearing before Dvalin, he hurled the antidote toward him.

He trusted Albedo completely.

Dvalin hesitated—then opened his mouth.

The glass vial shattered harmlessly.

"Hehehe."

The Abyss Mages chuckled.

"Oh no—!"

Venti realized it too late.

"Be careful!!!"

Futsu Mitama retreated instantly, teleporting away.

"Bang—!!!"

Dvalin's claws tore through the space where he had stood.

Then Dvalin roared skyward.

"So it's true!!!"

Pain and fury filled his voice. The antidote had not eased his suffering—it had intensified it. The dark nail upon his back glowed an ominous purple.

"Barbatos!!! You truly intended to poison me!!!"

Tears streamed from Dvalin's eyes as violent winds erupted.

The sky darkened.

Stormterror Dvalin was fully enraged. Though lacking authority, as the Anemo Archon's family, his strength was immense. Even weakened to sixty percent, his aura alone surpassed many Adeptus.

At his peak, he could contend with gods.

Futsu Mitama stared at the Abyss Mages. He inhaled sharply. He should have used purification water.

"What's happening?!" Kuki Shinobu shouted. "Albedo?!"

Albedo's expression was grim.

"My antidote neutralizes Durin's poison," he said slowly. "But—"

"They anticipated this. They likely implanted something else within Dvalin—turning the antidote into a catalyst."

Venti felt it too.

Dvalin's reason was collapsing.

Anger. Grief. Madness.

Even Venti glared at the Abyss Mages now.

"Kill them, Stormterror," the Abyss Mages chanted.

Their scheme was complete. If Barbatos intervened as a god, they were ready.

The trap had already closed.

At present, the only one among them who could pose even a semblance of threat—Kreideprinz—was unable to unleash his full power.

As for the remaining two, they were hardly worth concern: a former Inazuman shrine maiden, and a Raiden Shogun's retainer who had already ruined their plans once before. With just these three, how could they possibly defeat Dvalin?

The Abyss Mage was exceedingly pleased, cackling with undisguised delight.

How could this battle be lost? How could it possibly fail?!

Especially that Raiden Shogun's Retainer—damn him! If it weren't for him and those meddling Liyue Adeptus, the newly revived Primo Geovishap would have already fallen into the Abyss Order's hands!

"Roar—!!!!"

At the Abyss Mage's command, Dvalin let out a thunderous roar, his massive claws swinging down toward Futsu Mitama, Albedo, Kuki Shinobu, and the others.

The last vestiges of his sanity made him deliberately avoid Venti's position. But toward Futsu Mitama—the Raiden Shogun's Retainer who had come to "harm" him—Dvalin showed no mercy whatsoever.

"Baleful Omen!"

Facing the dragon's claw, larger than his entire body, Futsu Mitama swung his hand fiercely. A bolt of Electro elemental power, sharp enough to tear through space itself, flashed forth.

Chakra Desiderata manifested behind him. Musou Isshin took shape in his grasp.

"Boom—!!!!"

The whirlwind coiling around Dvalin's claw collided head-on with the space-rending Electro element. That same Electro power—capable of breaking a Primo Geovishap's defenses and injuring Dottore's segments—crashed squarely against Dvalin's claw. Yet the claw remained completely unscathed.

Its momentum did not slow in the slightest as it continued toward Futsu Mitama.

"Whoosh—!!!!"

Futsu Mitama vanished.

In the next instant, he reappeared high in the air, Musou Isshin held tightly as his gaze locked onto the purple, spike-like protrusions embedded in Dvalin's back.

In a flash, several streaks of violet light appeared around Dvalin, striking precisely at those poisonous spikes. If Futsu Mitama remembered correctly, there were two such spikes. Destroying them would restore Dvalin to his original state. At the same time, they were also his weak points—attacking them would inflict even greater pain.

In this brief exchange, Futsu Mitama had already realized something grim. If he truly fought Dvalin to the death, he would most likely lose.

It wasn't that he was weak. It was that Dvalin was simply too strong and the mass was too great.

No wonder the Abyss Order had invested so much effort into him.

"Boom—!!!!"

The explosion echoed. The poisonous spikes remained intact. Even Electro elemental power was unable to eliminate them.

Instead, Dvalin's cries grew even more agonized. His eyes turned fully crimson as his enormous body twisted with terrifying agility, jaws opening wide as he lunged straight for Futsu Mitama.

"Come on!"

Futsu Mitama did not hold back. He knew Dvalin was pitiful—but pity had no place in this battle. His opponent was overwhelmingly strong, and if he fought with the mindset of "healing" instead of combat, Dvalin could seize a single opening and bite him in half.

To prevent that, Futsu Mitama had no choice but to go all out. Dvalin was thick-skinned and resilient, while Futsu Mitama was comparatively fragile. He had no fear of killing Dvalin by accident.

High above, the two clashed fiercely—one weaving through space with Chakra Desiderata, the other relentlessly pursuing.

For the moment, the battle reached a stalemate.

Below, Kuki Shinobu and Albedo moved simultaneously. The Abyss Mages had to die.

"Two for me. The red one's yours."

Albedo drew his sword, gazing calmly at the two Abyss Mages before him, as though the chaos of recent events had failed to disturb his composure in the slightest.

Yet Kuki Shinobu could sense it clearly. Beneath that calm exterior, a fire burned fiercely.

Helping Dvalin craft the antidote had been a critical turning point. If it had succeeded, this battle would never have happened. Though Venti had prepared many contingencies, and no one blamed Albedo—who could have anticipated this?

They had known the Abyss Order would interfere. They had not expected them to tamper with the antidote itself.

Albedo was upright and kind by nature. And yet, the quiet resolve with which he intended to eliminate two Abyss Mages at once spoke volumes of the fury he suppressed within.

"Alright." Kuki Shinobu nodded slightly. Facing the Pyro Abyss Mage, she drew her tachi and said evenly, "Let's end this quickly. We still need to assist Futsu Mitama."

"Mm."

Albedo nodded in response, gripping his longsword as he charged forward. In the same instant, Kuki Shinobu vanished in a flash of Electro elemental light, reappearing behind the Pyro Abyss Mage and flinging out a talisman.

Just like that, the two were locked in battle with the three Abyss Mages.

Meanwhile, Venti lifted his gaze toward Dvalin in the sky and let out a deep sigh. A complex light flickered within his eyes. Things had ultimately taken the worst possible turn. All he could do now was hope that Futsu Mitama could push himself far enough to forcibly remove the poison from Dvalin's body.

Within the Chat Group, the others waited anxiously for news of the Dragon Crisis.

[Yae Miko: "Urgent urgent urgent urgent urgent!!!! Has the situation been resolved?!!!"]

[Azhdaha: "I know you're anxious, but calm down. It's still early. Futsu Mitama hasn't even started a live stream—nothing serious yet."]

[Raiden Makoto: "Still, everyone has gone silent. Something must have happened. If I had to guess, only Venti is free right now. @Venti, how are things?"]

[Venti: "Not great. Futsu Mitama probably doesn't even have time to reply."]

[Aila: "Is Young Master fighting the Dragon of the East?"]

[Kuki Shinobu: "Yes. It's intense. Dvalin has changed the weather—strong winds are engulfing Starsnatch Cliff."]

[Klee: "Klee saw it!!! Acting Grand Master Jean noticed too!!! They're heading over! But Auntie Lisa stopped them."]

[Guizhong: "They're fighting? The plan failed?"]

[Albedo: "Yes. It's my fault. The Abyss Order anticipated my antidote and turned it against us."]

[Kuki Shinobu: "Fighting two and still chatting?"]

[Albedo: "They're weak enough that I can spare the attention. But that's what's strange. Three Abyss Mages and Dvalin—do they really think that's enough to handle a Raiden Shogun's Retainer and an Anemo Archon?"]

[Venti: "Perhaps they have a contingency."]

[Maha Rukkhadevata: "Better to be cautious. Anything tied to the Abyss is never simple."]

[Azhdaha: "Then where's Zhongli?"]

[Zhongli: "I'm in Mondstadt, drinking tea and listening to music. I thought this would end easily."]

[Raiden Makoto: "How leisurely. Still, I hope Futsu Mitama can resolve this."]

[Azhdaha: "Shame he can't livestream."]

[Venti: "He's fighting at full capacity. I'll narrate instead."]

[Sangonomiya Kokomi: "Is this a live story session?"]

[Kamisato Ayaka: "An Anemo Archon narrating—what an honor."]

[Aila: "…I have a bad feeling."]

[Yae Miko: "Relax. With the Anemo Archon present, nothing bad will happen."]

[Keqing: "I'm dealing with the Fatui and Abyss Order here. But the Abyss has been unusually quiet lately."]

[Zhongli: "…"]

[Venti: "Futsu Mitama is circling Dvalin, slashing at the poisonous spikes while dodging Anemo bombs. Poor Dvalin is roaring in pain."]

[Azhdaha: "Can you be serious?"]

[Raiden Makoto: "Venti, are you sober?"]

[Zhongli: "…"]

[Maha Rukkhadevata: "Truly fitting of the Anemo Archon."]

The chat was lively.

But Futsu Mitama had no attention to spare. After narrowly evading another Anemo bomb, he could feel it clearly—

Dvalin was almost completely losing his mind. His attacks were growing more violent, more chaotic.

And that emboldened Futsu Mitama. Even weakened and buffed by the Abyss, Dvalin was still stronger than him overall. If Dvalin fought calmly, this would become a prolonged battle—one that could last days.

By then, the Fatui and the Knights of Favonius would arrive. The situation would spiral completely out of control. So now—

Now was the perfect moment.

"No thoughts…only severance!"

Futsu Mitama drew his blade decisively. Electro light flared in his eyes as Musou Isshin erupted with dazzling power. Dark clouds gathered. Thunder roared.

"Boom—!!!!"

A bolt of lightning descended, carrying a sword light that illuminated half the sky as it struck Dvalin's body.

"Roar—!!!!"

Musou no Hitotachi tore through his defenses. Blood flowed. Dvalin's crimson gaze faded slightly as he let out a roar filled with agony and fury.

Below, Venti watched in silence, heart aching.

"Excellent."

Futsu Mitama nodded faintly. The training had paid off. Even without using Electro Archon Authority, the effect was undeniable. Dvalin was wounded—

Yet his aura only grew more terrifying. With a powerful flap of his wings, he charged straight at Futsu Mitama. Against such a massive body, Dvalin was like a living fortress. Even so, Futsu Mitama knew—one direct hit, and he would be gravely injured.

"Whoosh—!"

Electro light flashed as Futsu Mitama vanished again, reappearing nearby. The moment he did, several Anemo bombs came hurtling toward him.

"?!"

His pupils shrank. He slashed through them—

Then immediately shifted tactics. He invoked the Anemo Archon Authority within him, his body moving like the wind itself, weaving through the bombardment.

Each flap of Dvalin's three pairs of wings condensed six Anemo bombs.

In an instant, the sky was filled. Teleporting recklessly now would be suicide. Flight was the only option.

Seeing Futsu Mitama soaring freely—and sensing that familiar power—Dvalin froze for a fraction of a second. Then his gaze flicked toward Venti on the ground.

"Roar—!!!!"

His fury intensified even further.

"Tsk." Futsu Mitama clicked his tongue. "What are you still angry about? You know the Abyss Order manipulated you. If Venti truly wanted you dead, do you really think an Anemo Archon would resort to such despicable methods?!"

Dvalin did not respond. His bloodshot eyes spoke for him.

Refusing all reason, he continued forming Anemo bombs as he opened his maw wide once more. Wind gathered within Dvalin's maw, condensing and compressing without pause. The sphere grew larger and larger as he fixed his gaze upon Futsu Mitama, unmistakably intending to annihilate him in a single strike.

"Huh—looks like a Tailed Beast Bomb, does it?" Futsu Mitama muttered under his breath as he observed Dvalin's movements.

At the same time, there was no fear in his eyes. The overwhelming barrage of wind projectiles had to be dealt with first—otherwise, getting close would be impossible. His teleportation ability might seem overwhelmingly powerful, but when he had teleported earlier, Dvalin had clearly seen through it. Otherwise, those wind projectiles would not have pursued him so precisely.

Therefore, he now needed to suppress Dvalin outright and neutralize the incoming storm of wind projectiles. As if sensing his intent, the Memory of Dust floating beside Futsu Mitama drifted closer, emitting a faint golden radiance.

Geo energy surged around him. His aura stabilized instantly, heavy and immovable like the earth itself, instilling an overwhelming sense of security. A subtle golden light flickered within his eyes.

In that very instant, Dvalin sensed danger.

Without hesitation, he abandoned his charge. The massive wind sphere erupted from his mouth, accompanied by countless surrounding wind projectiles.

An overwhelming barrage surged forth, carrying the giant wind sphere as it rushed straight toward Futsu Mitama.

"I Will Have Order."

Futsu Mitama crossed his arms, his expression calm and unwavering. As his words fell, a colossal meteorite, condensed entirely from Geo energy, descended from the heavens. The falling star shattered the wind sphere and countless wind projectiles in a single instant. Its momentum remained undiminished as it continued its descent toward Dvalin.

Gazing at the massive geo construct, a trace of admiration flashed through Futsu Mitama's eyes. His thoughts returned to his battle with Dottore.

Back then, merely using Musou no Hitotachi and a single planet had exhausted him completely. Now, however, his mental state was excellent, and his stamina remained abundant.

This was not only due to Raiden Ei's meticulous guidance, but also because the Chat Group's power was truly formidable. As the group's level increased, his abilities across all aspects had undergone a significant enhancement.

"Roar—!!!"

Dvalin let out a furious roar. There was no way for him to evade the colossal Planet Befall. For a brief moment, confusion flickered through his remaining sanity. What about the Raiden Shogun's Retainer he had been promised?!

Not only did this opponent possess the Authorities of the Electro Archon and the Anemo Archon—he also carried the inheritance of Rex Lapis?!

Dvalin had lived for countless years, yet this was the first time he had ever encountered such an existence. A fleeting thought surfaced within his mind. Had he truly misunderstood something?

Before he could dwell on it further, the massive Planet Befall slammed into him. Dvalin extended his razor-sharp claws, attempting to block the impact with his formidable physique.

"Boom—!!!"

The Planet Befall detonated instantly. An indescribable force spread outward, petrifying the majority of Dvalin's body.

"So strong—"

Looking at Dvalin's largely petrified form, Futsu Mitama couldn't help but voice his praise. He recalled how Il Dottore, empowered by Abyssal energy, had been completely petrified without resistance.

Dvalin, however, was only mostly petrified—and was already recovering at a visible rate. This regenerative ability alone was enough to prove that the titles "Dragon of the East" and "Anemo Archon's Retainer" were no exaggeration.

Despite his admiration, Futsu Mitama knew that Dvalin was temporarily incapacitated. Without hesitation, he activated Chakra Desiderata, teleporting directly onto Dvalin's back.

This time, he did not attack.

Instead, his gaze fell upon the purple, poisonous thorn embedded there. He retrieved the purification water, uncorked the bottle, and poured out the clear liquid.

"Drip."

As the purification water fell upon the thorn, the object that had resisted Planet Befall, Musou no Hitotachi, and even direct physical attacks began to dissolve like snow under the sun—melting away as though it were merely a nail driven into Dvalin's body.

"How…how is this possible?!"

Sensing the change, the Electro Abyss Mage lying sprawled on the ground lifted his head toward the sky and cried out in disbelief.

"The Abyss's curse—it's been broken?! Impossible! This is absolutely impossible!!!"

"That Raiden Shogun's Retainer—he! What did he do?! Damn it!!! Kreideprinz!!! Let me go!!!!"

The Electro Abyss Mage struggled violently, desperately trying to lift himself to witness how Futsu Mitama had shattered the Abyss's curse.

This was an impossible feat.

Why?! Why was this happening?!

Watching the Abyss Mage's frantic struggle, Albedo swung his sword without hesitation, ending the opponent's life.

He then turned his gaze to the remaining Cryo Abyss Mage, his voice calm and cold.

"Tell me. What exactly does your Abyss Order intend to do?"

If the opponent refused to speak, Albedo would simply grant him silence forever—and interrogate the next one.

"How is this possible…that's an Abyss curse. No one can purify it except His Highness the Prince."

The Cryo Abyss Mage seemed lost in thought. He didn't even react to his comrade's death, his gaze fixed solely on Futsu Mitama standing upon Dvalin's back.

The Abyss Order had expended immense effort to turn Stormterror Dvalin into a weapon of war. To prevent the Anemo Archon Barbatos from intervening, they had prepared meticulous countermeasures. Yet now, Barbatos had not even lifted a finger, and this so-called Raiden Shogun's Retainer was already close to resolving everything?!

"… "

Albedo's expression remained utterly calm. Seeing that the Abyss Mage offered nothing further, he thrust his sword down once more, ending his life.

"Give up. They won't say anything."

Kuki Shinobu carried over another Abyss Mage's corpse and tossed it onto the ground. She clapped her hands lightly, her tone helpless.

"Abyss Mages are notoriously strong-willed. At best, they'll give half-truths. Honestly, killing them outright is usually the most effective method."

Even so, one phrase lingered in her mind. The Abyss curse—no one could purify it except His Highness the Prince. Was that Prince the same one who had appeared in Liyue?

A heavy feeling settled in Kuki Shinobu's chest. According to Futsu Mitama, that Prince possessed combat power comparable to the Seven Archons. If the Geo Archon Morax had not appeared at the time, she and Futsu Mitama might have already fallen.

"We'll see what happens next."

Albedo lifted his gaze toward the sky, watching Futsu Mitama continue to use the purification water, uncertain of what would follow.

Venti remained silent as well, watching Dvalin suspended motionless in the sky, quietly hoping that everything would end there.

"Roar!!!!"

But matters were not so simple.

At that moment, Dvalin suddenly began thrashing wildly through the air. From his cries alone, it was clear that he was experiencing unimaginable agony—pain so severe it was heart-rending.

"This?!" ×3

Venti froze.

Albedo froze.

Kuki Shinobu froze as well.

Their shock stemmed from a single question—what was happening?!

Anything produced by the Chat Group had always been of the highest quality. The purification water should have successfully removed the poisonous thorn. Judging by the reactions of the Abyss Mages, the curse should have already been broken.

Then why was Dvalin like this?!

Even Futsu Mitama, riding atop Dvalin's back, was momentarily stunned. Yet as wind projectiles surged toward him once more, he suppressed his confusion and immediately teleported away.

"Roar!!!! Roar!!!!"

Dvalin howled in agony. The blood-red glow in his eyes dimmed slightly, yet the pain within them was unmistakable.

"This…"

Looking at Dvalin's condition, Futsu Mitama suddenly recalled the description of the purification water.

Purification water possesses the power to restore life and dispel evil.

Which raised an unavoidable question. Over the course of five hundred years, how much "evil" had accumulated within Dvalin? Or rather—aside from the poisoned blood, how many curses still lingered within him?

Futsu Mitama didn't know how painful it was to remove all those curses at once.

But now, he could feel it.

Dvalin's aura was steadily recovering. As the purification water dispelled the curses, it was simultaneously restoring his vitality at a rapid pace.

However, there was still one poisonous thorn embedded within him. The purification water poured earlier was not enough to completely eliminate all the corruption.

And now, enduring unimaginable pain, Dvalin glared at Futsu Mitama with bloodshot eyes.

"I say…you can feel that your body is recovering, can't you?"

Futsu Mitama looked at Dvalin, still locked in a red-eyed frenzy, and attempted to reason with him.

"Since you can sense your condition improving, shouldn't you calmly accept the treatment?"

Faced with his words, Dvalin could feel the searing agony tearing through his body. Calm thought was impossible. The pain was so overwhelming that he wanted nothing more than to kill Futsu Mitama.

"Roar!!!!"

Dvalin roared and charged straight at him.

"This has turned into a doctor–patient dispute," Futsu Mitama said with a bitter smile, never expecting his first use of purification water to end like this.

If both poisonous thorns had been dealt with at once, there would have been no issue. But purifying only half of it first—wasn't this just forcing Dvalin to endure unnecessary suffering?
