"mama..." Irida screamed from her sleep "I guess I'm gonna be stuck with these nightmares forever, just like a f*cking pimple that refuses to just go away" Irida grimaced as she held her head. She picked up her phone to check and couldn't help but curse "and I'm gonna be late on my first day of senior year" she sighed and got up from the bed.
It had been thirteen years since Maria died, Leo was charged with a first degree murder amongst other things and was executed, Andres retired from the force Three years after Maria's death, ensuring he wiped out the rest of Leo's men.
Irida's older brothers, Demeter, Nikolaos and Theodore barley came home anymore. Demeter got married to a sweet blonde with blue eyes who has the most amazing smile, her name was Ingrid and with her they had three adorable daughters. They settled in France where Demeter worked as a doctor and Ingrid and arts teacher.
Nikolaos remained in the military after his wife died of cancer leaving a little girl Maria who was named after their mother.
After Theodore got discharged from the hospital, he became quiet, almost lifeless barely saying a few sentences each time. He joined the force and became an Air Force pilot, never having a girlfriend and always spending whatever time he had to spare with Irida
Irida, now age seventeen has grown up to look almost like a replica of her mother, ste had a small frame, barely 5'4 in height with lush chestnut hair that always seemed to glusten in the sun and a pair of amber eyes.
"Irida we're gonna be late" Elini yelled from the gate
Elini and Irida had been friends since they were seven when Elini's family moved in, Elini was a tall brunette with eyes so green it seemed to draw one's soul in and she seemed to have a really huge crush on Theodore which made Irida confused. Asides from Theodore being a little handsome, he was a bloke who barely even spoke most of the time, it seemed mismatched for Elini who had a lively personality.
"I'm coming" Irida yelled back as she picked up her lunch "I love you daddy, see you tonight" she said as she ran out
"Soooooooooo, how does it feel to finally be a senior?" Elini asked as she buckled her seatbelt
"No special feeling I guess" Irida replied nonchalantly "it's gonna be the same old people, the same old problems"
"Ugh..... Irida you don't have to be a kill joy you know" Elini said as she rolled her eyes before driving off
Acs Athens, one of the most prestigious private schools in Greece, housing both local and international students. A school filled with the rich, famous and the most self entitled set of kids in the town.
"I really can't wait to graduate" Irida muttered as the walked I to the school building "I'm tired of dealing with the drama. Ugh..... Why didn't I skip grades when I should have" Irida whined, turning to Elini she couldn't help but glare at this best friend of hers
"It's all your fault, what exactly is there to enjoy about highschool"
"You know I just didn't want to be alone peach" Elini said pouting. She grabbed Irida's hands, swinging it as they walked to class "just one more year and we'd be done okay?"
"Yeah, sure" Irida said rolling her eyes
"Hi babe" someone called from behind them
Turning their heads, they saw Jake, Irida's so called boyfriend
Jake, an American jock who just seemed to be all brawns and no brains, he was also a part of their basketball team and a ladies man.
"Can you not call me that. It's uncomfortable" Irida said with a sigh. Honestly, she wondered why she ever agreed to be with someone as stupid as this, I mean she didn't even like him. In the one year that they've been together, the most she could condone was him walking beside her. Irida touched her nose helplessly, in avoiding problems she seemed to have brought more problems to herself
"I'm sorry Irida" Jake apologized with a smile "would you like to come watch my game later today?"
"She's busy" Elini retorted in disgust "let's go peach" she said as she pulled Irida's hand for them to walk faster. The quicker they got away from that pest the happier she'd be
Irida turned around and muttered a silent sorry to Jake who was still standing still
"That wasn't nice elle" Irida said as they got to class
"Why are you even with him?" Elini questioned " anyone with a brain can tell you don't even like him"
"He's easy to control" Irida said as she massaged her forehead "I got tired of turning people down after Ian left, so I just agreed to someone that listens to me" Irida explained
"I'm sure there's a reason for his disappearance peach" Elini comforted
Irida looked at Elini and just smiled, it's been so long already she truly hoped he had a good reason for leaving
