Finn O'Connell, Ian Gallagher's childhood friend and only trusted brother. Finn and Ian had been friends from their diaper days, they were always together wrecking havoc all over admore bay. Finn was a ginger haired with freckles and striking green eyes, which was a rather common look in Ireland. He had a really charming appeal to him and his smile seemed to be able to always brighten up a room.
Ian was more reserved while Finn was outgoing, he could already sweet talk the mothers and aunties in their town at a young age.
When Ian left Ireland, Finn had also wanted to follow along but it had been too dangerous so he had to stay back. They had nevertheless kept in touch for years until Finn decided to join the army. They had always talked about joining the army together, they wanted to be just like their fathers and although Finn's dad died in battle, he was Finn's hero and Finn idolized him.
Finn joined the army at the age of seventeen, a year after Ian and his mom had to go into hiding. They still tried to keep in touch because Finn was stubborn but he finally stopped when Ian strongly warned him that he'd be made a target and he might endanger his own family if he wasn't careful. Finn had no choice but to finally relent and joined the army earlier than his sworn brother. Finn couldn't be used as a weakness to Ian and his family so for the next two years, Finn strived to rise in ranks as fast as he could, taking private missions, taking team missions, anything that could make him pique the interest of his superiors. After his last mission, he was finally made a captain of his platoon and although he still had a long way to go before becoming a major general. He was happy for this achievement and he knew his best friend would also be happy for him.
Smiling as he walked down the familiar path that led to his house, he couldn't help but think of his lovely mother, she was so strong and yet so gentle. She single handedly raised he and his older sister, her ginger hair already had specks of when he left home years ago. Oh how he missed her gentle smile, her kind words and the house that always held a faint smell of cinnamon. Finn could already picture her her familiar baby blue apron and her hair that was always always tied in a messy bun, fussing all over the kitchen making pastries to deliver to her customers
"Ma, I'm back" Finn said as he picked up his pace, almost running as he buried home
.....
Ian looked at his mother fussing over him, with a sigh he held her hands and dragged her to sit by his side. It had been two weeks since the accident and he was already feeling much better, the bruises were almost faded and although he still had a slight limp, everything else was fine. Ian didn't take any action against Jake and his gang, seemingly acting like the fight never occurred. But whenever he came across them, he always noticed they were bruised and avoided him. He tried to ask Irida if she had anything to do with it but she said she didn't
Irida broke up with Jake the very next day after the incident and Elini was always antagonizing Jake and his friends whenever she came across them. His mother gave the principal and earful and made sure Jake and his friends were punished with detention for a week before she finally relented
Smiling softly, Ian looked at his lovely mother and he couldn't help but pull her into his embrace
"I love you ma" Ian said
"I love you too baby" Lily replied "when is Finn coming over?" She asked as she turned slightly to face Ian
"He said he'd be here this weekend" Ian answered "he still has some things to settle at the barracks and his mom had been fussing over him since he got back. Oh, Anna also got married so he wants to visit his older sister and check out the husband she got for herself. You know how protective Finn is over his sister" Ian explained
"He's quite diligent " Lily said with fondness "always so bubbly and full of vibrant energy. I wish you could be even half as enthusiastic as he is then I'd feel rest assured " Lilly couldn't help but complain a bit
"Your other son isn't even here yet and I've already started to loose favour. Don't worry when your precious son comes I'll return to being the unwanted weed in the lawn" Ian nagged as he laughed
His mother always had a soft spot for Finn. Ian couldn't blame him though, Finn was always vibrant no matter what
