Chapter 22 - Heart to heart talk 2

This was some of the few times, Ragna and the cursed fragment soul would have a heart to heart conversation, thanks to these conversations their stranger like relationship had grown to that of an older younger brother relationship, at this moment he couldn't help but ponder what the cursed fragment soul had said earlier.

Thanks to their sibling-like relationship growing, he could tell he was gradually becoming less cold, cunning, and misanthropic; maybe it was the fact that he had lived most of his life being lonely.

At the same time, he had once pondered he should get rid of the cursed fragment soul in his mind, but after thinking about it, he decided against it for two reasons, the first was, even if he tried or wanted to he definitely couldn't since this was the price for taking over this body, secondly, he did not want to lose himself to all that power and training thoughts.

Although the cursed fragment soul was naive about the real world and its cruelty, it made him understand there were still good people, and it was because of the bad people he had met in his previous world that had made him biased towards everyone.

There were a lot of thoughts in his head; eventually, he threw them to the back of his mind and started preparing for school; he didn't want to arrive late.

Ten minutes later..

Ragna could be seen jogging to school. Immediately he arrived, he went to the kitchen.

A loud voice could be heard before he walked. The head chef, Gai, was moving around giving instructions; in his voice, there was a bit of anger.

"What the fuck do you think you're doing? Even a toddler could do better than that!"

"Are you using your azz to stir fry or your hands?"

His mood seemed to have a great shift when he saw Ragna, as he had a large smile on his face.

The group of assistants he was giving instructions to, gave Ragna looks of envy.

"You're late kid."

He scolded with a pat on Ragna's shoulder, before throwing an apron at him.

Ragna caught it and instantly wore it with a solemn expression. Even though he had rejected Gai's offer several times to abandon his dream of becoming an awakener and become a galaxy-level chef.

He still didn't treat him badly, or show any sign of anger; rather, the fiery look in his eyes seemed to have increased, and he would sigh out of disappointment, but he could tell he hadn't given up yet.

At the same time, Ragna was grateful for the free food he always got from him, and would always do his best when he came to the kitchen.

"Huh? Wipe that killing intent off your face, you're not here to murder anyone, but to cook!"

Gai scolded Ragna, when he saw the cold look on his expression. Besides that cold look the Ragna always had, it was needless to say he had the skill to become a galaxy-level chef, and that was his only problem, besides the fact that his offer was being constantly rejected, Gai would always think.

'He is right.'

The cursed fragment silently agreed in his mind.

"Shut it kid"

Ragna said beneath his breath, as he tried to crack a smile on his face.

"For real, you called that a smile? That look on your face could even make a ghost shit itself."

Ragna forced himself to smile even more, but it was looking only more awkward making Gai look at him with exasperation.

Again this was the first person Ragna had gotten so close to since his transmigration to this world, at first it was just because he needed food, but eventually, he could tell Gai wasn't a bad person, although it was far from the relationship he and the cursed fragment soul had, nevertheless, it was still noteworthy.

He had expected the punishments in the kitchen to be quite boring, but surprisingly so far it was better than his expectations.

Gai was not only friendly, but he also treated him with respect and did not discriminate against him or anyone. So even without the free food he always gets, Ragna thought it was worth coming to the kitchen.

Regardless of the amount of food that was cooked, Gai would always give him more, scolding him that he was less than a few breaths away from the grave with how skinny and frail he looked.

Ragna could tell he wasn't pretending to be good to him, he couldn't see the scheming and vile looks he had seen in most people.

Meanwhile, thirty minutes ago..

"Chef Gai, what is the meaning of this? Why does it look like the student is having a time of his life, instead of serving his punishments as he should?"

A middle-aged man spoke, he was slightly bald with sunken eyes, behind a thick lens. His voice was tinged with a hint of anger and disgust.

"Chef Gai, you were clearly instructed on what to do. Even showed the footage of how he assaulted his fellow students because of food!"

"Teacher Garrison, I am doing exactly as I was instructed to, he is clearly working in the kitchen, and as for assaulting other students, he was clearly the one who was attacked first!"
