On a large stone boulder, a small figure sat cross-legged, his eyes closed. This figure wore simple, plain clothes; his deep black, shoulder-length hair fluttered in the air. After having sat still for such a long time, the young boy's body had already begun to ache, and at this time he opened his eyes.
His jade-black eyes stared at the sun as it slowly descended, vanishing beyond the horizon. Opposite from the sun was the moon; it slowly rose in the sky, signaling the beginning of night.
The fourteen-year-old boy Ming Sheng sighed. Who knew cultivation was so strenuous? To think a day's worth of time brought such little gains!
However, it was to be expected. With his D-grade spiritual root, his speed of cultivation was naturally slow compared to other talented youths. Shaking his head, Ming Sheng tossed aside this thought; right now he needed to head home quickly.
Getting off the large boulder almost three times his size, Ming Sheng walked to the edge of the cliff. Nearing the edge, Ming Sheng stopped. Standing still, he looked downwards, toward Dong Hai Village.
Below the cliff was Dong Hai Village, a medium-sized village with slightly over a hundred people in it. From the cliff's edge, Ming Sheng was able to see the entire Dong Hai Village and even far beyond it, the vast desert that stretched toward the horizons—endless and without limit.
After a short while of looking at Dong Hai Village, Ming Sheng turned his back and walked away. Walking down the mountain cliff, Ming Sheng headed towards Dong Hai Village.
A few minutes later, at the entrance of Dong Hai Village stood two guards wearing leather armor and holding thick steel spears. They were the protectors of the village, in charge of defending and guarding the village. Seeing Ming Sheng approach, one of the guards smiled and greeted, "How are you, Ming Sheng? Still wanting to become a cultivator?"
Ming Sheng smiled and nodded, "I won't stop trying."
The entrance to Dong Hai Village was big, able to fit five people simultaneously passing through, and above the entrance was a signboard written 'Dong Hai Village'.
Ming Sheng walked past the guards and into the village. By this time, night had fully arrived, and all the homes in the village glowed with a yellow light. Walking past a few houses, Ming Sheng arrived home.
Standing in front of a wooden door, Ming Sheng lightly knocked before pushing the door open.
inside, the first thing he saw was his father. Ming Tao, a middle-aged man with a short beard, wore plain clothing like his son. Compared to Ming Sheng, however, his build was far sturdier—no doubt shaped by years of labor and physical work.
Ming Tao was seated at the table, finishing his meal. When he heard the door open, he turned sharply.
"Ming Sheng! Where were you? Coming home at this hour—your mother was worried sick!"
Immediately getting scolded upon arriving Ming Sheng nodded sheepishly, looking away.
''Get I plate and serve yourself. Your mother had worked a lot today she already fell asleep.'' Ming Tao said, gesturing for Ming Sheng to get a plate and serve himself the food that was on the dining table.
Their home was small; the dining area and kitchen were one space. Ming Sheng bent down, grabbed a clean plate from the drying rack, and served himself some food before sitting down.
''How is your cultivation going?'' Ming Tao asked.
''It's fine, in a week I might be able to breakthrough to the Martial practitioner realm.'' Ming sheng Said.
''So you really want to leave the village don't you? What's so good about the outside world that would make you want to leave so much?'' Ming Tao asked.
''Father, I wish to travel beyond Dong Hai village and see the outside world. Master Lu Ping said that there are great things beyond this village, even beyond the Southern Plains. I wish to see all of that!'' Ming Sheng said.
Hearing his son's words Ming Tao sighed, he could not force his son to give up on his dream. ''Fine, it's not like your leaving anytime soon. You haven't even reached the Martial apprentice. Quickly eat your food and go to bed.'' Ming Tao said, turning to continue to eat his food.
Hearing this, Ming Sheng stopped talking and began eating his food. several minutes later, after Ming Sheng and Ming Tao had finished eating supper they both went sleep.
…
In a quite room, a figure stood silently gazing out the window. His deep black hair was shoulder length and his pitch-black eyes gazed at the stars and moon. This figure was non other than Ming Sheng.
Looking at the big moon and endless stares, Ming Sheng's thoughts wandered to his origin home 'earth'. Before being born in the 'Martial world' Ming Sheng had lived in a distant world called 'earth'. There he was an ordinary human who traveled the world, a traveler of sorts.
Then one day, as he was climbing that world's tallest mountain. He died and woke up in this world.
This world was known as the 'Martial world' a much more vast and wider world compared to his previous one. Here the strong ruled, the bigger and stronger you were the more people would respect and admire you. In summary it was the rule of the jungle, you either hunt or be hunted.
Dong Hai Village was located on Tai Mountain, one of many mountain's in Southern Plains. A side from Dong Hai Village there were also two more similar sized villages. Called the Hei Ji Village and Wu Tian village, every village in southern plain was named after it's strongest person. For Dong Hai village it was master Dong Hai, the same went for the other to villages.
All three villages lived in Tai Mountain and a bit far away from Tai Mountain was the 'Dark Forest' a place filled magical beasts, aside from hunters of cultivators no one ever dared to go in.
After being born in this world, Ming Sheng promised himself to fully live his dream. He would travel to every corner of this 'Martial world' seeing what it had to offer, being given a second chance at life he would not waste it.
Shaking his head and tossing aside this thoughts, Ming Sheng smiled, ''living my life to achieve my own dream and goals, this is truly living!''
Turning his back and walking away from the window, Ming Sheng climbed into bed and fell sleep. Tomorrow he still had to wake up and cultivate, if likely he would ask Master Lu Ping for pointers.
