Chapter 259: Spy
Getting Ameyuri Ringo to join Akatsuki wasn't a sudden whim for Masahiko; he had long thought about planting a spy inside Akatsuki.
Over the years, Akatsuki had always been in the dark, while Masahiko was in the light. He had considered hiding in the dark himself, or even faking his death, but that always felt foolish. Faking his death to stay hidden, waiting for the enemy to appear before striking with the force of a thunderbolt—heaven knows how long he would have to wait.
By taking the initiative to attack, he wouldn't have this concern.
He had also hesitated for a long time regarding the candidate for the spy. He had considered Obito, or even Konan, but ultimately couldn't make the resolve because being a spy was simply too dangerous a job.
As for disguising himself... he was very self-aware. If he could disguise himself successfully, it would be a miracle.
Catching Ameyuri Ringo this time, he originally hadn't thought in this direction, but after taking a strike from her just now, he suddenly discovered a certain "trait" of hers.
Her identity issue was even easier to explain. Masahiko's identity in the Hidden Mist Village was never exposed in the end, and Ao probably wouldn't reveal it either. Ameyuri Ringo "disappeared" in the chaos. Even if people knew she was captured, the rumor would only be "some ninja who knows Space Ninjutsu abducted Ameyuri Ringo." When she reappeared in the ninja world, she only needed to say she escaped.
"You mean Akatsuki? That organization that controlled the Third old man?" Ameyuri Ringo asked weakly.
She hadn't eaten or drank water for over three days.
Masahiko smiled and threw a sealing scroll from his coat to her, containing food and water. He didn't believe she could run away.
Watching her unseal the scroll and begin to wolf down the food without a word, Masahiko smiled and said, "That is right, it is that Akatsuki. I need you to join them and gather intelligence for me, preferably finding their leader's hideout."
She didn't speak, just kept eating and drinking.
Masahiko wasn't in a hurry either, waiting for her to recover her physical strength.
His sealing scroll stored a month's worth of food, and she had eaten about a tenth of it. It seemed she was truly starving.
Over ten minutes later, she finally raised her head, revealing a disdainful smile. "Are you not worried that I might truly join Akatsuki?"
Masahiko frowned. "Do not smile. If you do not show those jagged teeth, we can still have a proper conversation."
He suddenly had the urge to knock out all her teeth... they were too ugly.
Ameyuri Ringo choked for a moment, unable to figure out Masahiko's angle.
Masahiko shook his head and let out a long sigh, looking upward. "Ameyuri Ringo, I am afraid you yourself do not even know it yet, but you do not have long to live!"
She fell silent for a long moment, then the tomboy's exaggerated laughter rang out. "Hahahaha... I had long heard that although the Great Elder of the Uzumaki is strong, his personality is flawed. Seeing you today, it really is true!"
Masahiko kept a wooden face. "Who started that rumor? You, with your flawed looks, dare to mock me?"
It was no wonder Ameyuri Ringo had this attitude. In this generation of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen, she was the youngest, just over thirty, but her strength was among the top.
The Hidden Mist Village called her a genius ninja, believing she had the potential to become one of the few ninjas at the absolute peak of the ninja world. In other words, they believed she could grow to the SS- level.
"Saying I do not have long to live, does that mean you are going to kill me?"
Masahiko sighed. "Although I do not wish to become a ninja who believes only in bloodlines, the facts prove that ordinary people do indeed have limits. You should have noticed this too, right?"
Ameyuri Ringo paused, then sneered. "The older people get, the more cowardly they become. Are limits not meant to be broken?"
"It is naturally fine if you train on your own; there will always be geniuses with perseverance. But using external forces to break them will ultimately cause damage."
Seeing her frozen in place, Masahiko sighed inwardly.
Ameyuri Ringo was indeed a rare genius. At just over thirty, she had trained her Lightning attribute to a rare height. Measured by Masahiko's system levels, it was close to level eight.
But after Masahiko sensed her closely, he found that her actual limit should be level seven. Her subsequent progress must have been forcibly stimulated by the Lightning Blades in her hands. As she was now, she would live to forty at most. If she continued training like this, the day her Lightning attribute reached level eight would be the day she died.
Ameyuri Ringo was still able to think rationally. After a long while, she spoke with a ferocious smile, "So what? Are you telling me to stop training?"
Masahiko smiled. "Stop training temporarily. If you can join Akatsuki, I will give you medicine to repair the damage you have suffered over these years."
Masahiko didn't have a way to break physical limits, but since she could break them through the Lightning Blades, Masahiko could use medicine to repair the damage to her body.
Seeing her deep in thought, Masahiko didn't rush her. This kind of thing couldn't be decided in a moment.
Masahiko took the opportunity to thoroughly tease the Fat Cat, helping it dispel its fear and unfamiliarity from the past two days.
After half an hour, Ameyuri Ringo finally spoke: "How can I trust you?"
Masahiko paused; this line was inexplicably awkward.
She also realized it. "I will trust you this once for now."
Masahiko: Even more awkward.
"If you want me to be a spy, you have to at least let me know some intelligence about Akatsuki, right?"
Masahiko smiled. "Knowing their intelligence will actually make you easier to expose. You only need to know that their intelligence network is very strong, and their leader's strength is also very great. If you are exposed, you will likely die."
"I have no way to send you directly into the Akatsuki organization. You can only disguise yourself as having escaped and choosing to become a rogue ninja... Hmm, a bounty hunter ninja would be best. With your strength, Akatsuki should take the initiative to invite you... probably." At this point, Masahiko was also a bit unsure.
But thinking about Juzo Biwa from before, Ameyuri Ringo was stronger; there was no reason she wouldn't be invited.
"Heh, what a difficult mission." Ameyuri Ringo started laughing again.
Masahiko frowned, waved his hand, and the two appeared in the outside world.
"This is a barren mountain southwest of Konoha Village. You will handle the rest on your own. Just contact me when you join the Akatsuki organization. If you cannot join, do not come looking for me. As long as you do not oppose Konoha and the Land of Whirlpools, consider yourself free. You will not live past forty anyway."
"Forty?" Ameyuri Ringo lowered her head slightly. "Heh, then I truly thank you for sparing my life."
"Hmm?" She looked up, only to find that Masahiko had already disappeared from in front of her.
Two kilometers away, Masahiko breathed a sigh of relief. "I almost couldn't stop myself from knocking out all her teeth... I hope this idle chess piece can give me a pleasant surprise."
Suddenly, characters flashed before his eyes: "Mostly witnessed and completely changed the Naruto World side story: Fourth Mizukage. Obtained 10(/2)(x10) Witness Points."
Masahiko looked slightly pleased. "It is finally here. Did Mangetsu Hozuki take office? 1210 Witness Points, I am not far off now. And for the Third War, that Optimus Prime, I should also be considered to have participated in changing it, right? The Witness Points will not be little. If only I had not taken the blame for it..."
Masahiko shook his head, feeling slightly invigorated. "Then back to Konoha, let's continue! To cure infertility, you should call... wait, what was it again? The local plumber?"
"Looking for me is the right choice!"
