The chariot was fast, moving at a speed Elion doubted he could match with his wings. The landscape blurred beneath them as they followed Kali, who was still faster, occasionally glancing back to make sure they hadn't fallen behind.
They crossed the smaller rift separating this landmass from the last, though this one lacked the curtain of mana, and then followed the broad trail farther southeast. Before long, a distant rumbling reached their ears. It grew louder as they approached, accompanied by the cries of beasts and the faint clamor of countless voices.
Kali raised a hand, bringing them to a stop.
"Any closer in the air, and they might notice us."
They descended several thousand meters from the procession, leaving the chariot behind a rocky rise. With their presences suppressed, they continued on foot until they reached a ridge overlooking the plains.
Elion stopped.
Even after Kali's explanation, the sight left him stumped.
