Military Rank Hierarchy

Military Rank Hierarchy

Basic Philosophy of the Rank System:

This system is designed around the principle of "Responding to Threats, Not Just Power." A soldier is evaluated based on their leadership capabilities, tactics, and contributions to winning battles, regardless of whether they are a Warrior (non-magic) or a Magus (magic user). A powerful Magus might start at a high rank, but only genuine leadership can take them to the top.

[Military Rank Hierarchy; From Lowest to Highest]

1. Enlisted Ranks (The Foundation)

• "Private Second Class": New recruits, the most basic position.

• "Private First Class": Experienced soldiers who have completed their basic service duties.

• "Corporal": Leads a small squad (5-10 people).

2. Non-Commissioned Officers (Field Leaders)

• "Sergeant": Leads a platoon (30-50 people). They are the field leaders and the backbone of the army.

• "Master Sergeant": A senior sergeant with vast experience, often an advisor to officers.

• "Warrant Officer": A technical or magical specialist. A Magus of Crest-level is often placed here as an advisor or special support asset.

3. Commissioned Officers (Strategy and Command)

• "Second Lieutenant": The first officer rank, commands a company (80-150 people). The starting point for military academy graduates.

• "First Lieutenant": The deputy company commander.

• "Captain": Company commander. A brilliant Magus of Aegis-level or a gifted Warrior often achieves this rank.

• "Major": Commands a battalion (400-1,000 people). Begins involvement in complex tactical planning.

• "Lieutenant Colonel": Deputy commander of a regiment.

• "Colonel": Regiment commander (1,500-3,000 people). A respected leader, often in charge of a garrison or fortress.

4. General Ranks (War Leaders)

• "Brigadier General": Commands a brigade, often a combination of several regiments.

• "Major General": Commands a division (10,000-15,000 soldiers).

• "Lieutenant General": Commands a corps or serves as a regional commander.

• "General": The supreme commander, reporting directly to the Grand Marshal.

• "Grand Marshal": The leader of the entire kingdom's armed forces. Usually held by the King/Queen or their most trusted person. A Magus of Dominion-level or a legendary war hero often occupies this position.

Additional Notes:

1. Dual Career Paths (Officer & Magus):

• "Warrior" (Non-magic / Dormant): They must rely on tactical expertise, leadership, and physical combat prowess to advance.

• "Magus" (Magic User): A Spark-level Magus can be directly placed as a Corporal or Sergeant. A Crest or Aegis-level Magus can directly enter as a Lieutenant or Captain. However, true leadership is still tested on the battlefield.

2. Rank vs. Magic Level:

A Colonel (who is a Warrior) could give orders to a Major (who is an Aegis-level Magus) due to superior experience and tactical prowess.

3. Special Titles and Elite Forces:

• "Battlemage": A title for magic soldiers who fight on the front lines.

• "Arcane Advisor": A special position under a commander to provide strategic advice on magic.

• "Aether Knight": An elite order composed of chosen Magi and Warriors, who may report directly to the royal family.
