Shiao Kyan's expression stayed professional, but Bai Li could see her surprise growing little by little. Very few clients asked for this kind of setup, especially not civilians.
Next, Bai Li moved on to the windows. "Replace all the glass. Every single one. The balconies, the living room, the upstairs rooms. I want bulletproof glass, shockproof glass, and anything else you can add. If someone tries to break in, I want the windows to hold no matter what.
As for the outer walls, I want them to be reinforced with another layer which would also be able to withstand grenade explosions. It should be explosion and shock proof with highest grade materials used in the process."
Little Mo typed so fast that his fingers blurred.
Then Bai Li shifted to security. "I need a full camera system. Not the cheap local ones. High resolution cameras with night vision, motion sensors, heat detection, and backup storage. Hidden ones too, inside and outside the apartment. And all the feeds must connect to my phone only."
"Understood," Shiao said, her tone already showing respect.
But Bai Li wasn't done. She moved on to electricity next. "I want the solar system completely rebuilt. Not the one already in the unit. I want industrial grade solar panels. The kind that can power a whole building if needed. They should generate a large amount of electricity even with weak sunlight."
She paused only long enough to breathe before continuing. "And I want a solar powered generator. Not a small one. A high capacity model. Something that can store a huge amount of power and last almost a month or two at full charge. I want the highest grade available. The best one on the market."
Shiao exchanged a quick look with her assistant. This time, even the calm architect looked mildly stunned.
But Bai Li kept going.
"For water," she said, "I want a rainwater collection system on the rooftop. Something wide enough to collect a large amount of water during storms. And I want a filtration unit installed so I can drink it safely."
Little Mo kept typing, swallowing nervously.
"And lastly," Bai Li said, "I want an advanced drainage system in all the bathrooms. Something that can recycle and purify used water. I want every drop of water in my apartment to be usable again."
When she finished speaking, the room fell quiet for a moment. Not because she was unreasonable, but because her list was… massive. Detailed. Expensive. The kind of project only doomsday planners or secret bunkers required.
She ended it with one final sentence. "Everything should be the highest grade possible. No cheap materials. No shortcuts. For every part of this renovation, I want the best of the best."
Shiao finally let out a soft breath, then gave a slow nod. "Miss Bai… this is not a normal renovation. It's practically building a fortress."
Bai Li gave a small polite smile. "That's the idea."
Shiao Kyan was quite dumbfounded by her demands and it took a while for her to truly come to her senses.
She turned her head and looked towards the young man waiting beside her and he also looked up from his ipad and looked towards her.
He also had quite a shocked expression on his face. Both of them looked into each other's eyes before they came to accept the fact that this time they were met with one of those strange yet novel creatures in the world of the rich who were known for their weird yet eccentric habits of spending money in places that normal people would never.
As people working in a million dollar renovation company, they had previously had many such instances where such rich young or even old people came to them with the weirdest of requests.
Shiao Kyan suddenly had a flashback of a young rich second generation heir coming to them to renovate his entire penthouse into an outrageous sex dungeon for his girlfriend! It was the first time she had encountered such an absurd renovation idea but she also used her professionalism to the extreme and completed the renovation which completely satisfied that rich heir.
She also remembered the time when a rich middle aged man with million dollars worth of stocks requested to renovate his entire home into a freaky haunted house. When she asked him out of curiosity, why he wanted to renovate his home in such a way, he replied with a grin that being in such a scary place arouses him even more! She was utterly shocked by what he said and the way he said it! It was from then on that she learned to never question her clients and to just produce the expected results without knowing what it would be used for. As often, curiosity would lead her to answers she wished she never knew in the first place.
There were also many times when quite a few rich second generation heirs asked to renovate their homes into a doomsday fortress or even build a nuclear bunker.
For these reasons and experiences, Shiao Kyan, though quite shocked, quickly calmed herself down as she knew that she must be one of those clients.
After calming down, she quickly followed up with her questions with the same professional smile as before,
"Well then, miss Bai, we can certainly get all this done but you should know that this would cost quite a lot."
Bai Li smiled slightly, she already knew that it would cost a lot but what could she do, literal doomsday was hanging right on her neck, she couldn't just sit there and not prepare anything. She finally has a chance to live a second life with a healthy and strong body, she couldn't just end up dead on the first day when the apocalypse starts.
Bai Li: "It's okay. Money is not a problem but I do have some conditions. I want this whole renovation to be done within the next 5 days. I don't care how much money it takes, I need it done within 5 days."
