Chapter 4 - Unknown Attacker

Why did I even come here? …Sigh. I really should have thought about where to go.

Since I'm at school, I should plan my moves.

First things first: get to class and lay out a plan.

Step one — Shinji.

I saw Sakura's bruises. For that alone, Shinji deserves a beating.

Step two - Emiya.

I'll protect him and teach him more about magecraft.

Step three… the Grail War itself.

No more joking around. Even if Shirou isn't a Master, the seventh must already have summoned a Servant by now.

Worse - the school is already wrapped in a bounded field.

It's dormant for now, but if it activates, every student here will be in danger.

That leaves me with two options: search it out myself, or gamble on an alliance with Tohsaka.

Searching alone means risking running straight into a Servant.

And trusting Tohsaka…

…I can only hope she has the decency not to kill anyone at school.

Only clubs are here.

I wait for that guy. It's getting dark when he finally leaves the archery club.

He's surrounded by female students - most from the archery team.

Maybe they're drawn to his vice-president status.

"Oi, Shinji!" He doesn't even look at me - just keeps walking with his harem.

"Matou Shinji!" He finally turns his head when I call his full name.

*Smack.* I deliver a punch straight into his face.

The girls scream. His nose breaks.

His stupefied face almost begs for another punch… but I won't waste more time on a loser like him.

"This is a warning!"

Behind me, he shouts, but I don't care.

Someone should've shattered that ego ages ago.

Well - another thing done.

Now, the bounded field around the school.

And I'm not the only one.

Rin Tohsaka is moving through the same halls, drawing mana from the field.

That should've been the end of it… if I don't stay.

Shit... I raise my hands.

A heavy pressure. Killing intent.

"…Would you kindly stop glaring at me like you want me dead, Servant Archer?"

I guess I'm forced into an allies. "Hello Rin would you kindly ask your Servant to drop his weapon?"

Rin smiles with her proud, smug look of hers.

And that's how I end up tied on a school rooftop while Rin tries to dismantle one of the bounded fields.

While the Servant Archer with his red coat, in his spirit form is close by.

... Sigh. It's boring being tied up.

Meanwhile, Rin works on destroying the mark.

Well this is interesting. I sense another Servant's magical energy. "Voile!" I wrap myself in a cloak.

My cloak makes me easy to forget. It hides my presence — unless I choose to turn off.

"What, you're going to erase it? what a waste." A man in blue armor standing on a water tank, watches her.

So I wait. Rin looks at my way but I guess she doesn't see me as she gets a little bit relaxed.

But another Servant is not something she should be happy about.

She jumps off the roof.

The blue Servant follows.

And this gives me a perfect moment to untie myself. Since Rin can't destroy the bounded field, I take over.

... It's perfectly made and even done with perfect understanding, but it lacks a proper structure.

So the field is designed to liquefy any normal being into pure mana. This is truly ancient era magecraft.

Sadly, I don't like mindless death.

...These students are lucky. If I had a Servant, I'd use it!

And.... Done. Good thing the real Ryouma taught me so many mage craft.

Damn... I feel like a faker calling him the real one.

No matter, let's see how Archer is doing against the Servant.

They're in an even fight… no, not really. Archer is getting pushed back.

To normal eyes, Archer looks like he has the advantage. The Archer leaves no openings. But anyone who knows magical energy can say: Archer and Rin will burn out first.

Hmmm... that spear. I think I know who it is. Suddenly both of them stop. The man in blue with a crimson lance sucks up all the mana around him.

Shit! Is it about to use noble phantasm?

I have to get down.

"Who's there?" Huh? It definitely shouldn't be me.

Is there someone here? That's impossible it's eight p.m pass curfew.

Nobody should be here. Yet why I'm curious?

I peer through the fence on the rooftop and spot a familiar figure.

There's only one person with that hair.

Shirou Emiya. Shit... Shirou. I promised myself I'd protect you!

Why are you here! Why are you not at home!

Fuck the stairs. I jumped over the fence. Falling four stories isn't smart, my legs almost snap, but I can't care about such a thing!

I ran after Rin who was already running.

"Dévoiler!" My invisibility turns off as Rin gets surprised when I get here.

Rin almost shouts at me. "Was that your Servant? Tell him to back down!"

"That wasn't my Servant, I'm a Master without one!" I run faster. I have to save Shirou, no matter what!

Rin stops full of confusion... Everything didn't make sense.

But she just shook her head and continued running.

...Shit... *Smack. Smack.* Why was I late! Why.

Shirou laying on the ground, his heart pierced.

He barely has a pulse. It not too late to save him.

But I don't know anything about resurrection...

I don't have time to ask real Ryouma...

"Rin! Save him!" I can only ask for help from Rin who was shocked...

She quickly pulled out a heart shaped red jewel.

With some German incantation... Shirou's heart beat stabilized.

"Thank you... Rin." I picked him up, Rin left with her Servant.

The streets were empty.

"I told him. If he doesn't summon quickly, he'll die." A child's voice cuts through the silence.

White hair. I know the Einzbern family when I see it.

"Einzbern magus, I assume?" I don't need to ask, but it's good to hear the name out loud.

"Yes. I'm Illyasviel von Einzbern. Nice to meet you." She bows, lifting her skirt slightly like a princess.
