The weeper who caused all this mess goes to get up, growling and snarling at corvo all the while and making his intentions clear.
So In response….
*WHACK*
A strong kick is sent towards his jaw, knocking the sick man straight out.
"Ugh-"
He faceplants once more to the floor, this time remaining unmoving.
The next ones come soon after in a wave, as if by some unspoken word they understand each other and sync up with such ease with there common goal of infecting corvo.
… a corvo who has lost most of his immunity to the plague with connection to the void.
The first comes lunging at him as if she were a wild dog and not a human, but is swiftly dodged with ease with such predictable moves. She too faceplants but goes to get up straight away, maybe the plague suppressing the pain to carry out its goal easier.
Another strong punt to the head renders her unconscious.
'Two down. Wow, this might become a habit.'
By the time corvo finshed his thought two more were already on him. Kicking one in the knee stuns their movement briefly allowing corvo to push his opponent head and redirect them into the other knocking the two down in a roll.
Before he is able to knock them out, the rest of the weepers finally arrive.
Seeing himself grossly out number corvo back steps to allow himself to run awa- tactically retreat around a corner of a pillar that holds the building above up, bringing the horde along with him all the while.
Corvo stays ahead of the crowd as even without supernatural agility he is naturally fast but as he turns the corner of another building they quickly gain on him. They all trudge through the waist deep water, dramatically slowing them all down further.
That is until a weird wet grinding noise starts to kick up from behind them.
*SPLASH*
A wet glob of unknown liquid hit the wall beside corvo, producing a loud fizzing sound as part of the wall is melted apart.
*SIZZLE*
'Shit!!'
Corvo speeds up as much as he can through the water, even periodically jumping of the side of a wall to speed up. But even then, it still hits him.
Another volley of acid is spat out of the weird creatures mouths, the river Krusts, all targeted at corvo and his pursuers. But even with the rain of acid falling down on them, the weepers don't let up. Seeming adamant on infecting corvo as if they were driven by some other worldly force.
The acid burned all over corvos torso due to a lack, or more accurately no sort of protection to stop it slow the acid. Giving the substance free access to his naked upper body.
The weepers meet similar fates, even while being fully clothed; the acid just melts through onto their skin then melting further.
Exposed muscle fibres become visible on all those present, though it is only corvo himself that seems to react.
"FUCK!!!"
Shouting in pain he eventually reaches his target. A metal chain. Instantly corvo starts climbing as soon as he reaches it- and though an awkward start, being in the adjustment stage of dismemberment, he scales the chain fairly quickly.
The weepers though, if they even could climb a chain with their lacking mobility, don't even get the chance. The river krusts rapidly fire bursts of acid, melting the pitiful people down and tearing wholes through what's left of their body's.
Corvo himself just looks upon the scene with some regret. If only he had come this way from the start and thought this through a little. But there is no time for regret and no time for useless pondering. He must continue on.
He scales what's left of building, using the broken remains of metal to pull himself to the roof and get in through the what was once a skylight.
The sight he is met with is equally as gruesome as the one outside. Mutilated bodies, butchered up into various pieces that vaguely forms what's left of a human, though this with more limbs than usually.
The stench is disgusting. A weird irony smell punchering his nose with every foul breath. But the smell of rot is little to none, meaning these corpses are fresh. Recently slaughtered.
Clearly though, some hungry rats have been feasting on these corpses, or perhaps they were used for some other purpose by the assassins, corvo wouldn't out it past them.
Bending down, he comes near a more intact corpse, this one with enough clothing left that he can spy which organisation it is from.
'The overseers, huh. Did they get into a war with dauds group?'
He dosent let his wondering thoughts from stopping him loot the corpse. Claiming all discarded weapons, holsters to attach to his trousers, clothing which he cuts up and uses as bandages to cover his burns as well as some pistol ammo and grenades.
Holstering the pistol corvo steps forward to open the door, his destination the abandoned factory where his gear was dumped to claim them back. Hopefully his hand as well.
…
..
.
Eventually corvo makes it towards some kind of control room. Maybe something that was once used as a substation for the factory? But nonetheless, that all is irrelevant right now.
He has already used the grenade found outside the entrance to blown up the group of river krusts, ones that were is his way for getting objective of collecting the empty whale oil canisters.
Corvo promptly slotted the oil canister inside a refill machine, watching as it snaps into place like a magnet and fill up in mere seconds.
'It's so weird seeing how things are more developed in this world than mine, but also as a whole less developed with smaller concepts. It's all so interesting. I only wish I had the time to explore it all, alas I have inherited responsibility.'
While thinking and waiting for the canister to fill up, a large swarm of rats, far larger than even he could summon at once starting zoning in on his position. Seeming to get ready for a feast.
'….'
For a minute corvo almost starts panicking. I mean, who wouldn't? I large group of blood listed big rats the size of cats start chasing after you to eat your flesh, shit is terrifying.
But in his time on this planet, one of the things he has done the most is kill these little gremlins. So it's not him who should feel fear… but the rats.
Though he still runs away of course.
Taking the oil canister with him, corvo sprints up a flight of stairs that leads into the control room. But before fully entering he places down a spring razor trap, then slamming shut the metal door.
He waits a minute, straining his ears to pick up the sound of the scurrying rats feet slapping against the stairs. Though quickly that sound is replaces by metal screeching against itself aswell of the slicing and severing of flesh.
All sound outside soon ceases to be created, so corvo creaks the door open slightly to peek through. Of course what greets him is a disgusting stench of rot laced blood and the sight of hundreds of rat corpses diced up into little tiny bite sized pieces.
'Gross, smells like shit. But I suppose you are what you eat.'
Corvo quickly continues on with his objective. Placing the oil tank into its compartment and letting it be sucked into place, he watches as it swiftly energies the whole building. The lights flickering on soon after along with the lights on the control panel, ones indicating it's specific function.
'Now… where are you. No, no no, no…. There you are! Now I only hope this dosent alert those bastards at the top.'
Finding the switch he is looking for; he flicks it on, causing the folded set of stairs that leads up the broken factory to fold and allow corvo to climb.
Something he quickly does after looting the potions and valuables from the building. It dosent take corvo long to reach the highest place the stairs will take him, which is admittedly not that far, only about half way up.
But he knew this of course. He half walks half climbs up the rest of the walkway which has been broken apart, finding a bone charm before he makes it to a chain that leads to the top.
Bone charm;Robust- Health potions take effect quicker and last long, giving a minor regenerative effect.
'Huh, just what I need.'
Now, after reaching the top with everything prepared, he is ready.

A/n; is anyone still reading this? I will keep posting regardless as it is a hobby, but I'm just curious really. Also let me know if my writing quality has dipped down with the two weeks off.
Thank you.
