Chapter 10 - Chapters in: Private meeting

Guild Quest, a small paper containing a plea for help which the adventurers take to earn money. In order to make one, there are many requirements to it.

One is to go to the receptionist table and tell them the quest you are about to make. Within the guild receptionist, there are five members seated within it, each one having different roles from the others.

One is a table for applying to be an adventurer, one for buying materials you got from your quest or adventure, and another one for making quests.

Finally, the two responsible for paying the completed quests you had taken or the tables where you can take a quest if you don't know how to read and write.

Second is payment or the rewards the adventurer will have after completing the quest you made.

Each quest has a different difficulty. An example of this is a quest in getting some herbs and taking on a dragon. Obviously, the difficulty within the two is wide and high.

In making an F-rank quest, the minimum rewards for it should be around 10–20 bronze coins, while the S-rank around 5–10 gold coins.

And finally the third requirement: whether the guild will take the quest or not. Not all requests of making a quest will be taken and made, because the guild is nothing but a community-based group.

If the locals find the guild irresponsible, the kingdom or the local government has the power to make the guild disband.

Which is why the guild only takes quests that are doable and something that will not ruin their reputation. In a sense, to create a quest within the guild you have to do three things:

One is to meet a receptionist responsible in taking the request, two is to have the required reward money for adventurers to take it depending on how difficult it is, and finally whether the guild finds your quest doable.

"Does this meet your question?" The purple-haired lady asked Nine.

"Her explanation is more like a AI narrative than an actual person talking," Nine thought to himself, after listening to the whole thing.

"Yes! Thank you for explaining it." Nine replied. After the three left, Nine was asked by her to stay with her. At first Nine was confused by it since there should be nothing else to talk about.

Not wanting to be rude or anything, he decided why not stay, but after a while, around 10–15 minutes of silence, Nine couldn't take it anymore and decided to ask a question to fill out the quiet room.

"Can I know why I have to stay here? It's already quite late and I still have no inn to stay the night." Nine said to the lady, wanting to know why he had to stay here even after the rest already left.

"Hmmm. Please give me a few minutes." She replied. Hearing her, Nine did so. Finally, after ten more minutes of silencing reading the report given to her earlier by Nine, she talked.

"Anyway Mr. Nine, I didn't expect for you to do such a great job on your first quest. Not only did you take a quest no one wanted, but even go beyond what people did."

"Now let's go to why I asked you to stay. The reason why you have taken the quest is because we met this morning and you found it when helping me post them on the board." Nine nodded.

"The reason for this private meeting of ours is because of the rewards of the quest."

"Huh? Didn't I already receive the rewards?" Nine said, tapping the bag of money on the table.

"Yes, you did. But the quest you have taken has moved ranks due to the failures of the others from it. And each time the rank changed, the rewards too increased. But that's not the reason for this meeting."

"Then, what is it?" He inquired.

"Report. In the report Lance made, it said you have taken on a mutated rat within the sewage system and burned the rats that gathered by its calling. Is this true, Mr. Nine?"

"Yes. I did kill a humanoid rat there and made a corner go in flames that burned the rats called by it." Nine said, putting more credibility on the report.

"Great! Because of that, the report here said that you will receive additional rewards depending on what they get within the sewage that will be cleaned up by the temple. So, in the near future you may or may not receive something from this quest."

"..... Huh? What does that mean?" Nine said, confused.

"Hmmm. Let me put it in a much simpler way. Those rats you killed and burned have a chance of having a mana core within them. If the temple finds them, you'll receive a tiny amount of their worth. Not only that, because you didn't know what to take from the mutated rat, you have left the other valuables from it."

"Sorry, can you explain it more?" Nine said, not understanding her words completely.

Seeing how Nine still couldn't understand her, she started explaining once again:

"If the temple finds some mana cores within the rats that burned from your action, you'll receive payment from them. After butchering the mutated rat for the other valuable parts of it, you'll get more money. Understand?"

Her voice was still calm, but Nine could feel annoyance within it, making him answer:

"Yes!"

"Well then, since you already understand this. Shall we go?" She said, standing up and pointing at the door. Nine nodded and started moving towards the door.

Since it was already late, the guild was already barren, having not a single person within it. Be it the workers or the adventurers. Seeing how she would be the last one to close the entire guild, Nine decided to help her.

This cleanup went from fixing the chairs and cleaning the tables, closing down the windows and curtains, locking and closing doors around the guild.

After twenty minutes of cleaning both the 1st and 2nd floor, they closed the main doors and left the guild.

"So, in the near future I may suddenly receive money from this one..... Who doesn't want that!?" Nine thought to himself as they moved towards the inn she was staying in.

Since it was already late where most inns were already filled with people, this was the best thing she could offer since Nine's time to find a place to stay was spent with her.

"Keep taking low-rank quests and you'll be promoted to E-rank." The lady said to Nine as they moved.

"Thanks, I didn't think taking a quest that I found beautiful because of the image on it would earn me a large amount of contribution points." Nine replied, embarrassed how she was encouraging him to do better.

"The bag of money is gone," the lady thought, seeing how Nine wasn't carrying anything on him. "I guess it's in his inventory?" A while back when Nine summoned his mask and the item skill in his bracelet, she already knew he had some sort of storage item.

"Since I already have enough money to last a month, I should start learning how to read and write." Nine muttered to himself.

Hearing his words, the lady thought back to her younger brother. "Alex, seems like you'll have a hard time getting connected with this guy."
