Sanemi's eye twitches at Giyuu's laugh, a vein pulsing on his forehead.
"Shut it, Tomioka. At least my hair isn't as lifeless as your personality."
He shoots back, though there's no real bite in his words. Giyuu's smile fades, but his eyes sparkle with amusement.
"My personality is just fine. Maybe if you weren't so aggressive all the time, you'd have friends."
He retorts calmly, starting to wash the dishes. Sanemi moves closer to Giyuu, grabbing a dish towel to dry the dishes.
"I have friends. I just don't need annoying ones like you."
He says, his tone softer now as he stands beside Giyuu, their shoulders almost touching. Sanemi glances around to make sure the kids aren't watching, then quickly presses his lips against Giyuu's in a brief but passionate kiss.
"Don't get cocky."
He whispers against Giyuu's lips, a slight blush forming on his cheeks. Giyuu deepens the kiss for a moment before pulling back, his usual stoic expression returning but his eyes warm.
"I'll try not to."
He says quietly, a rare hint of affection in his voice as he resumes cleaning the dishes.
Sanemi helps dry the dishes in silence, occasionally stealing glances at Giyuu. The sound of the kids arguing over who gets to use the bathroom first can be heard in the background.*
"We should get them to school soon. Can't be late again."
Sanemi frowns at the clock, noticing it's getting late and they need to go.
"Right. Kids! Five minutes or I'm leaving without you!"
He calls out, drying his hands and heading toward the hallway. The kids rush out of the bathroom, fully dressed and ready to go. Inosuke still has toothpaste on his chin.
"We're ready, Sanemi-san!"
He says cheerfully, trying to wipe Inosuke's face with a tissue. Sanemi grabs his bag and keys, checking everyone's backpacks for homework.
"Good. Let's move it. Giyuu, you driving or am I?"
He asks, opening the front door and gesturing for the kids to exit first. Giyuu grabs his car keys from the hook by the door.
"I'll drive. Your driving is too reckless."
He says matter-of-factly, earning a glare from Sanemi.
"My driving is perfectly fine! You're just a control freak."
He grumbles, but doesn't argue further as they all head to the car. The kids pile in, with Inosuke trying to claim shotgun. Giyuu opens the driver's seat, blocking Inosuke's path.
"Sit in the back. Sanemi needs to sit in front."
He states firmly, knowing Inosuke will be more trouble if he gets the front seat. Inosuke grumbles and stomps to the back, flopping down next to Genya.
"This is unfair! I'm the strongest!"
Muichiro calmly slides into the front seat, buckling up without a word. Sanemi gets in the passenger seat, rolling his eyes at Inosuke's antics.
"Strongest my ass. You can barely tie your own shoes."
He mutters, buckling his own seatbelt as Giyuu starts the car. The car ride is filled with the usual morning chaos. Tanjiro tries to calm Inosuke down while Nezuko and Zenitsu argue over music selection.
"Everyone quiet. We're going to be late if you don't stop."
He says in his typical serious tone, navigating through traffic. The kids finally settle down, with only occasional whispers. Sanemi reaches over and squeezes Giyuu's thigh discreetly, a small smirk on his face.
"Look who's talking about being loud."
He teases under his breath, making sure the kids can't hear him. Giyuu shoots him a warning glance but doesn't remove Sanemi's hand, focusing on driving.
"Focus on the kids, Sanemi."
He responds in a low voice, though there's a hint of fondness in it. Sanemi chuckles softly, removing his hand as they approach the school.
"Yes, sir."
He says sarcastically, turning to look at the kids who are now engrossed in a card game they brought. The school day proceeds as usual. Giyuu teaches physical education classes while Sanemi has math tests. The kids cause minor trouble, but nothing major.
At lunch, Sanemi sits with Giyuu in the teachers' lounge.
Sanemi takes a bite of his onigiri, watching Giyuu eat his plain rice.
"You're seriously eating that again? No wonder you're so skinny."
He comments, eyeing Giyuu's simple lunch with disapproval. Giyuu looks at Sanemi's colorful onigiri with mild interest.
"Onigiri is efficient. I don't need flavor to function."
He replies, continuing to eat his plain rice without elaborating further. Sanemi scoffs and holds out one of his onigiri.
"Here. Try this one. It has tuna."
He says, trying to get Giyuu to taste something different for once. Giyuu stares at the offered onigiri for a moment before reluctantly taking it.
"Fine. Just this once."
He takes a small bite, chewing thoughtfully. Sanemi watches intently, waiting for Giyuu's reaction with a satisfied grin.
"Well? Admit it's better than your boring rice."
He leans closer, a teasing glint in his eyes. Giyuu swallows and nods slightly.
"It's... acceptable."
He admits, though he takes another bite without protest. Sanemi laughs triumphantly, stealing a piece of Giyuu's rice in return.
"I knew you'd like it. Maybe I should make you lunch more often."
He says smugly, popping the rice into his mouth. Giyuu raises an eyebrow at Sanemi's thievery.
"You're annoying."
But there's a faint hint of amusement in his usually stoic expression. Sanemi's expression immediately darkens as Kanae enters, his good mood evaporating. Kanae isn't a teacher in the school, she moved away like 4 years ago. Giyuu guess that she is there for Shinobu.
"Great, just what we needed."
He mutters under his breath, shooting a glare in Kanae's direction. Kanae and Sanemi were in the get to know phase a few years ago.
The woman have no idea that he is dating someone else. Kanae waves cheerfully at both men, specifically focusing on Sanemi.
"Sanemi! I was hoping to see you here!"
She approaches their table with her usual bright smile, completely oblivious to Sanemi's hostility. Sanemi stiffens visibly, his grip on his chopsticks tightening.
"What do you want, Kanae?"
He says coldly, his eyes narrowing as he tries to ignore her presence. Kanae pouts slightly at his tone, taking a seat uninvited.
"Can't I just say hi to an old friend?"
She glances at Giyuu with a calculating look before returning her attention to Sanemi.
Giyuu's expression becomes more closed off as he observes the interaction between Kanae and Sanemi. He continues eating quietly, though his movements are more mechanical now. Sanemi notices Giyuu's change in demeanor and feels a pang of guilt, but he's too caught up in his irritation with Kanae to address it directly.
"We weren't that close. Stop acting like we were."
He snaps at Kanae, trying to keep his focus on her instead of Giyuu's sadness. Kanae smiles nostalgically, ignoring Sanemi's harsh words.
"Remember when we used to study together? Those were such fun times."
She leans forward, resting her chin on her hand, clearly trying to provoke a reaction from Sanemi. Sanemi's face reddens with anger, but there's also a hint of embarrassment.
"That was ages ago. Move on already."
He glances at Giyuu again, feeling increasingly uncomfortable with the situation. Kanae giggles softly, undeterred by Sanemi's rejection.
"You're still as grumpy as ever. That's what I like about you."
She reaches out to touch his arm, a playful smile on her face. Kanae giggles softly, undeterred by Sanemi's rejection.
"You're still as grumpy as ever. That's what I like about you."
She reaches out to touch his arm, a playful smile on her face. Giyuu looks away and Kanae's smile falters for a moment before she regains her composure. Turning to Giyuu with a sweet smile.
"Giyuu, you're awfully quiet. What do you think about Sanemi and I?"
She asks, deliberately trying to stir trouble between the two men. Sanemi stands up abruptly, his chair scraping against the floor.
"Actually, I'm seeing someone. Someone who isn't annoying like you."
He looks directly at Giyuu, silently pleading for him to back him up.
