Chapter 64 - Flustered

Genya notices and smirks.

"She's still your baby, Giyuu-san."

He teases, making Nezuko stick her tongue out at him playfully. Sanemi snorts at the interaction. Their ice cream orders are called, and the group settles into a booth. The triplets eagerly dig into their treats, while Genya tries to avoid getting any on his shirt.

"Careful, you're making a mess already."

He warns, though he can't help but chuckle at how messy Muichiro is being with his own cone. Muichiro has ice cream smeared across his face, and Genya reaches over to wipe it off with a napkin.

"You're such a child, Mui."

Muichiro pouts but leans into Genya's touch, making the older boy blush slightly. Sanemi watches the interaction with a knowing look, then turns to Giyuu.

"Our kids are hopelessly in love."

He says sarcastically, though he's secretly pleased that Muichiro has found someone who treats him well. Giyuu nods, watching as Tanjiro and Nezuko start feeding each other their ice cream, much to Sanemi's horror.

"At least they're happy. Unlike some of us who are perpetually grumpy."

He gives Sanemi a pointed look, earning a

glare in return.

"I'm not grumpy, I'm realistic."

He defends himself, though the corners of his mouth twitch up slightly at Giyuu's teasing.

"Sanemi-san is just a tsundere!"

The youngest Kamado chimes in, causing everyone to laugh, including Sanemi who tries to hide his smile behind his ice cream. Sanemi's face turns red with embarrassment at being called out by a teenager.

"Shut it, Tanjiro! I'm not a damn tsundere!"

He growls, but there's no real heat in his voice. Giyuu leans over and whispers something to Sanemi that makes him blush even harder. The triplets burst into giggles at Sanemi's reaction, while Genya looks at his brother with a mix of amusement and sympathy.

"You're cute when you're flustered."

Sanemi nearly chokes on his ice cream,

looking at Giyuu with wide eyes.

"I'm not cute! I'm dangerous!"

He protests weakly, crossing his arms over his chest. The group continues their ice cream outing, the teenagers chatting excitedly about Halloween plans and school drama.

"Genya, have you thought about what you're going to be for Halloween?"

He asks, while Sanemi steals a bite of his blueberry cheesecake. Genya shrugs, thinking.

"Maybe a vampire or something edgy. Inosuke wants to do a matching costume with me but I don't know what he has in mind."

Sanemi raises an eyebrow at the mention of Inosuke.

"That kid better not make you wear something ridiculous."

Tanjiro grins mischievously.

"Knowing Inosuke, it'll probably be really weird. Like last year when he wanted to dress up as a giant potato."

Nezuko giggles and nods in agreement, while Muichiro seems lost in thought about his own costume ideas. The woman approaches their table with a polite smile.

"Excuse me, could we share this booth? All the other seats are taken."

Sanemi immediately tenses up, his protective instincts kicking in. He looks at Giyuu, silently asking if it's okay to let strangers join them.

Giyuu nods subtly, sensing Sanemi's unease but wanting to be accommodating.

"Of course, there's plenty of room."

The woman thanks them and sits down with her young daughter, who looks around curiously at the group of teens and adults.

The woman's daughter, who appears to be around 8 or 9, waves shyly at Muichiro.

"Hi! Your hair is pretty!"

Muichiro blinks at her, surprised by the compliment, while Genya and Tanjiro exchange knowing looks.

Muichiro blushes slightly and mumbles a quiet "thank you." The daughter seems to take that as encouragement and leans forward excitedly.

"What's your name? I'm Ayame!"

Sanemi watches the interaction carefully, his expression softening just a bit at the innocent exchange. Muichiro glances at Giyuu for help, clearly uncomfortable with being the center of attention.

"That's Muichiro. He's a bit shy."

Ayame's mother apologizes for her daughter's enthusiasm.

"Ayame, don't bother them too much. They're trying to enjoy their ice cream."

The little girl pouts but sits back, still stealing glances at Muichiro. The kids finish their ice cream first, and start getting restless. Tanjiro checks his phone.

"We should probably head back soon, it's getting late."

Sanemi nods in agreement, relieved that the social interaction is coming to an end.

"Yeah, let's go. I need to start dinner."

He stands up, gathering their trash. Sanemi freezes mid-movement as Giyuu's lips brush against his cheek, his face turning a deep shade of red. The teens gasp and Ayame claps her hands.

"Ew! Grown-ups are kissing!"

Sanemi stammers, completely flustered, while Giyuu maintains his usual stoic expression but with a hint of satisfaction in his eyes. The mother quickly covers her daughter's mouth, embarrassed by her outburst.

"Ayame! That's not nice to say!"

Sanemi glares at Giyuu, though there's no real anger behind it, just embarrassment and a hint of affection.

"You... you did that on purpose, didn't you?"

He mutters under his breath, making sure only Giyuu can hear him. Sanemi grumbles something about "damn teasing boyfriends" and grabs Giyuu's wrist, pulling him towards the exit.

"Let's go, before you embarrass me further."

He turns to the others.

"You all coming or what?"

The group follows, with Tanjiro and Nezuko giggling behind them, and Genya shaking his head in disbelief. As they walk home, Genya falls into step beside Sanemi.

"You know, you could just admit that you liked the kiss."

Sanemi scowls at his brother, still holding

onto Giyuu's wrist possessively.

"Shut it, Genya. I don't have to admit anything."

Tanjiro whispers to Nezuko and Muichiro.

"He's totally blushing right now, even if he's trying to hide it."

Nezuko nods in agreement, while Muichiro nods off slightly, still affected by his ice cream coma.

"Sanemi-san is so obvious when he's flustered."

Sanemi overhears and shoots them a warning look.

"I heard that! Stop analyzing me, you brats."

They reach their house, and Sanemi finally lets go of Giyuu to unlock the door.

"Home sweet home."

He says quietly, watching as the kids rush inside to escape the evening chill. Sanemi follows them in, immediately heading to the kitchen to start preparing dinner.

"You all better do your homework before eating!"

Genya rolls his eyes and heads upstairs to his room, while Tanjiro and Muichiro settle at the dining table with their school bags. Nezuko curls up on the couch, already half asleep from the day's activities. Giyuu sits beside her, gently stroking her hair.

"She's exhausted."

Sanemi calls from the kitchen.

"Tell her to wake up! I'm not letting her sleep through dinner again."

Giyuu gives Sanemi a stern look, his usually calm demeanor turning slightly threatening.

"She needs rest, Sanemi. Don't wake her up."

Sanemi stops what he's doing and peeks out from the kitchen, momentarily intimidated by Giyuu's rare display of assertiveness.

"Tch... fine. But she better eat later."

Sanemi returns to cooking, muttering under his breath about spoiling the kids too much.

The house fills with the aroma of curry as he adds spices.

"Thank you for understanding."

He says softly, returning his attention to Nezuko who has already fallen into a peaceful slumber. The peaceful moment is interrupted by the sound of Genya's door opening and footsteps descending the stairs.

"Dinner smells good, but why does it feel like there's tension in here?"

He glances between Giyuu and Sanemi, sensing the aftermath of their silent exchange. Sanemi shoots Genya a look that says 'don't ask'

"Just get the table ready, Genya."

Genya shrugs and starts setting the table, while Tanjiro and Muichiro begin to work on their homework at the counter.

Giyuu carefully picks up Nezuko and carries her to her room, tucking her in before returning to help with dinner.

"I'll wake her up later with some food."

He says to Sanemi, who nods reluctantly. As the table is set, Muichiro suddenly perks up.

"Giyuu-san, can you help me with this math problem? It's from Sanemi-san's class."

Sanemi smirks, clearly pleased that Muichiro asked Giyuu instead of him.
