BUZZ! BUZZ! BUZZ! My phone vibrated.
With drooping eyes, I searched for my phone aimlessly...BUZZ!BUZZ! I woke up and again randomly placed my hands here and there to search my phone while my head still rested on the pillow....BUZZ! BUZZ!...
"Joe! For God's sake pick up the phone or put it in silent mode?" Danny drowsily spoke from the bed next to mine. We both just came back from work and decided to rest before leaving for the reunion in the evening.
Somehow I managed to get my phone and after receiving the call, I placed the phone on my ear as my head rested on the pillow.
"Hello!"
"---"
"Hello"
"---"
"Tsk! Hello! Who the hell is this?" Irritated, I shouted.
Beep...Beep...Beep. The call ended.
This time I stood up and held the phone near my blurry eyes.
Same number again? This particular number called me few days ago but when I received it, no one answered just like today. Who it might be?? But more than being curious, I was furious for the unknown call.
(Looking outside the window) Sigh! It's still bright outside. I could have slept some more if this person hadn't called me. Dejected, I leaned on the wall near the bed and scrolled my Twitter for a while.
After an hour I woke up Danny and we both got ready for the reunion party. Our dresses were already chosen and kept aside yesterday to lessen the last minute crisis. We also decided to grab a taxi in place of walking, although the place was nearby, to look more vibrant and chill.
We reached the restaurant half an hour later from the designated time. This was purely my idea to make us look cool, just as the entry of the hero is always at last.
"Hey Joe! Danny!" Some of our friends shouted as we entered.
"Hey! Good to see you guys." We tried to stay calm.
"Hey! What's up? Come here both of you. Sit here."
I pulled Danny's hand to lead the way but was surprised how his hands were sweating. I giggled inside my mind.
After we were seated, dishes were served and we chattered digging the food. There were sushi, oysters, french fries and beer.
Both Danny and I skipped the bear making an excuse about our early morning work. But deep inside we were afraid not to speak or act anything dumb after being tipsy.
It was indeed a good decision to come to the gathering. I came to know that although some of my friends got employed, many were still seeking for a job. Soon I became comfortable and drank some beer.
"Look who's come guys? Finally...."
We all looked at the entrance. It was our friend, Mavis.
Mavis James is the most prominent figure in the news these days. He is an actor, a singer and a model as well.
"OH! He's with his boyfriend." Someone screamed.
"Hey Mavis! Is this your boyfriend?" A curious friend asked.
"This is not done. You want to make us jealous that you are in a relationship while us all here are single..." Another friend asked woefully.
Mavis, along with his boyfriend came near us and spoke, "Yes! He's my boyfriend Ron Murphy.
"Hello everyone!" Ron spoke in a husky tone.
"Hey! Sit down. It's been years we met Mavis."
As the seats near my left side was empty, they both sat near me.
Mavis' boyfriend sat next to me. He wore a navy blue tuxedo and it looked great with his white skin tone. He was moon eyed with a perfect nose bridge and glossy lips... I gulped. But...why does this face look so familiar....
"Joe! Stop staring at someone else's boyfriend." Danny whispered onto my ears. At that point I realized how foolishly I gazed at the person sitting next to me.
Brushing off my thoughts, I gulped the whole can of beer.
