Evelin's POV
I got to my feet, studying Jimmy's face with growing confusion. The shock written across his features was nothing like the joy I'd been anticipating.
"Yeah, I'm pregnant. A couple of months along," I said, cocking my head to one side. "You don't look happy about it."
Jimmy stayed silent.
I watched him struggle with something internal, his jaw tight. Fear flickered in his eyes—raw, unfiltered terror that made my chest tighten.
"I'm not unhappy. Just... caught off guard," he finally mumbled. "Didn't think you'd actually be pregnant."
"Neither did I," I admitted. "Had a feeling yesterday, but I didn't want to get my hopes up over nothing. Went to the hospital today and confirmed it. Wanted to surprise you, but... fell asleep instead."
Jimmy pulled me against him, but I caught the bitter twist of his mouth before he buried his face in my hair. "Are you happy?" His voice came out barely audible.
